'Deal or No Deal' fans raise £6,000 for charity after Jimmy Carr loss
Deal or No Deal viewers have raised thousands of pounds for a hospice after Jimmy Carr won the charity just £750 on the programme's first celebrity special.
The comedian played the Channel 4 gameshow on behalf of Helen & Douglas House, which provides support for young adults with life-shortening conditions and their families.
After his episode aired on Easter Sunday, Carr took to Twitter and urged fans to make up for his loss by donating to the charity.
"Please give generously - #celebdond," he wrote. "Or as Bob Geldof would say Give us your *uckin' money..."
As followers crashed the Helen & Douglas House website in their rush to give money, he added: "Thanks to everyone who donated to Helen & Douglas House after watching me get my ass handed to me by The Banker on Deal or No Deal."
Carr returned to Twitter this afternoon (April 10) and revealed that over £6,000 had been raised so far off the back of his Celebrity Deal or No Deal stint.
The 8 out of 10 Cats host could have taken a maximum of £14,000 from his game.
