The Only Way Is Essex is set to introduce a new character later this week.
Danni Park-Dempsey, 23, has filmed scenes for the current fifth series of the ITV2 reality show and is expected to make her first appearance on Sunday's episode (May 20).
Park-Dempsey will be the show's first main black cast member, reports The Sun.
She is said to be a close friend of Lydia Bright and her mother Debbie, and used to work in the show's Nu Bar.
A source said: "Danni is being brought in because she is bubbly, friendly and opinionated, not because of the colour of her skin.
"She is good pals with Lydia and Debbie and will be introduced this way. She has already filmed scenes and can't wait to do more."
The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers recently hinted that she may quit the series after its fifth run.
The show continues tomorrow (May 16) at 10pm on ITV2.
