Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, is about to join the ranks of the mainstream media.
Romney will guest-host on ABC morning show "Good Morning America" on Oct. 10, filling in for Robin Roberts, who is on medical leave, an ABC spokeswoman told TheWrap.
Romney will sub for Roberts in the 8 o'clock hour.
Roberts went on medical leave in late August, after announcing that she had been diagnosed with the blood and bone-marrow disease myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS. She underwent a bone-marrow transplant in September, using marrow donated by her sister Sally-Ann.
"GMA" producers have also been speaking with First Lady Michelle Obama about guest-hosting the show, but her schedule does not currently permit it.
Since Roberts' departure, a number of high-profile names have been enlisted to fill in for her, including "Colbert Report" host Stephen Colbert, the cast of the ABC sitcom "Modern Family," and Rob Lowe.
