Piers Morgan Calls Herman Cain's Lawyer 'Shockingly Naive'
It's been a week of ups and downs for Piers Morgan. First, he mistook late comedian Patrice O'Neal for a woman (for which he has now apologized.)
Then he's observed with obvious glee as his former nemesis, 'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson, has been vilified in the UK for saying on live television that striking workers should be executed.
Now Morgan has called Herman Cain's lawyer, Lin Wood, "shockingly naive." On last night's 'Piers Morgan Tonight' he quizzed Wood about whether, given the number of accusations against him recently, Cain is fit to be President of the United States.
Wood countered by saying that Cain's private life should be off-limits to the media, and that no accusations have yet been proven true. "Five lies do not make one truth. ... Don't judge someone's character based on accusations made in the media that have not been proven with facts."
Morgan challenged Wood's claim that Cain's alleged affair with Ginger White was irrelevant, pointing to the danger of a US President being blackmailed, and that Cain has been talking about it publicly. But Woods stuck by his idea that Cain's private life is his own business: "I'm not here to talk about the private matters of Mr. Cain."
