'Whitechapel' latest episode delivers 5.7m on ITV1
ITV1's Whitechapel remained consistent last night, with the latest instalment grabbing almost 5.7m, according to overnight data.
The Rupert Penry-Jones drama took 5.65m (23.8%) from 9pm with a further 207k (1.2%) on timeshift.
Earlier that night, The Dales earned 4.17m (17%) from 8pm (+1: 158k/0.7%).
On BBC One, Panorama was seen by 2.63m (11%) from 8.30pm. Empire followed with 3.9m (16.5%).
The latest University Challenge appealed to 2.82m (11.5%) on BBC Two, with The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff (1.18m/4.9%) and The Tube (1.85m/7.8%) airing afterwards.
Channel 4's Superscrimpers: Waste Not, Want Not managed 1.42m (5.8%) in the 8pm hour (+1: 292k/1.2%) and Coppers took 1.58m (6.7%) from 9pm (+1: 390k/2.4%).
Meanwhile, Channel 5 aired Police Interceptors (1.07m/4.4%) and Royal Marines: Mission Afghanistan (888k/3.7%).
Overall, ITV1 surged to primetime victory with 25.8% (+1: 0.7%) ahead of BBC One's 19.7%. BBC Two came third with 6.3%. Channel 4 and Channel 5 had 5.8% (+1: 1.1%) and 3.4% respectively.
On the multichannels, E4's Skins continued to improve week-on-week as Nick's episode grabbed 455k (2.8%). However, only 47k (0.6%) caught it on +1.
