BBC Eyeing May Premiere For Silk Season 2

BBC Eyeing May Premiere For Silk Season 2

BBC One plans to launch the second season of their legal drama series Silk in May, sources at the channel confirm exclusively to TVWise. I’m being told that the premiere has been penciled in for Tuesday May 8th at 9pm, though this is not set in stone and may be subject to change.

The drama series, which was created by Peter Moffat and is produced by BBC Drama Production, follows a group of barristers in London, with two of them, Martha Costello and Clive Reader, determined to become Queens Counsel (known in legal slang as taking silk).

In the season 1 finale it was revealed that Martha had become a QC while Clive hadn’t. The new season will explore the pressures on both Martha and Clive as she deals with the increased workload involved with being a QC, while he tries to deal with the rejection of not making the cut.

Rupert Penry Jones, Maxine Peake and Neil Stuke are confirmed to be returning for the second season. They will be joined by newcomers Frances Barber (Great  Expectations), Phil Davis (Brighton Rock) and Indira Varma (Luther).
