Ratings: 'Apt. 23' Has Solid Debut; Fox Wins Night With 'American Idol'
ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" got off to a solid if not stellar start Wednesday night, while "American Idol" inched up in the ratings and secured an overall win for Fox, according to preliminary numbers.
Fox came in first in ratings and total viewers for the night, with an average 4.9 rating/14 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 16.4 million. "American Idol" filled the network's primetime roster, growing 4 percent over last week.
CBS took a distant second in ratings and total viewership with an average 2.6/7 in the demo and 10.4 million. "Survivor" at 8 posted a 2.6/8 in the demo and 9.6 million total viewers, while "Criminal Minds" the following hour received a 3.0/8 and 11.8 million total viewers. "CSI" at 10 dropped 21 percent to a series low, receiving a 2.9/8 in the demo and 9.8 million total viewers.
ABC came in third in ratings and total viewers with an average 2.4/7 and 6.9 million. "The Middle" at 8 and "Suburgatory" at 8:30 both matched last week's season lows. "The Middle" had a 2.1/7 and 7 million, and "Suburgatory" a 2.1/6 and 6.1 million. "Modern Family" at 9 also hit a season low, dropping 9 percent in the demo to a 4.1/11 -- pretty great for a low --- and 10.3 million total viewers. The premiere of "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" drew a 2.9/7 in the demo and 7 million total viewers. At 10, a special "Revenge" clip show posted a 1.6/4 in the demo and 5.6 million total viewers.
Univision took fourth place in the demo and fifth in total viewers with an average 1.4/4 and 3.7 million. "Una Familia Con Suerte" at 8 drew a 1.4/4 in the demo and 3.6 million, while "Abismo de Pasion" the following hour posted a 1.5/4 and 3.9 million. "La Que No Podia Amar" at 10 received a 1.4/4 in the demo and 3.7 million total viewers.
NBC came in fifth in the demo and fourth in total viewers with an average 1.1/3 and 4.2 million. "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" at 8 dipped 16 percent in the demo from last week's premiere, posting a 1.6/5 with 6.2 million total viewers. "Best Friends Forever" at 8:30 posted a 0.9/3 in the demo -- down 25 percent from last week -- and 2.9 million total viewers. At 9, "Rock Center With Brian Williams" was down 25 percent in the demo, receiving a 0.6/2 with 2.8 million total viewers. "Law & Order: SVU" at 10 matched the series low that it received the previous two weeks, taking a 1.6/4 in the demo and 5.4 million total viewers
