Saved by the Bell reunion on the cards?
Actress Lark Voorhies has been chatting about getting the old Saved by the Bell gang back together
23 years ago, a glorious union of class joker, nerd, jock, cheerleader, brain and um, another cheerleader (we forget what Lisa’s archetype was – rich kid, was it?) assembled on children’s TV. Channelling John Hughes via The Brady Bunch, Saved by the Bell was a sunny idyll for kids on this side of the Atlantic, and made the teen years out to be a series of dates, proms, detentions, and the kind of moral dilemmas that could be satisfactorily resolved within 22 minutes.
Anyone born between the years of 1978 and 1984 learnt more or less everything they needed to know about teen life from Saved by the Bell, so news that the old Bayside High gang may reassemble should fire some nostalgia synapses. Lark Voorhies (Lisa) recently chatted to Yahoo! about the prospect of a SbtB reunion, telling them, “We tend to circumvent and come around to this topic quite often, so I think the buzz might catch.” Adding, “I really honestly believe if it did happen it wouldn’t be a bad thing. We just did a People magazine spread and that was a nice reunion.”
Only last week did Mr Belding (Dennis Haskins) pop up in Mad Men, so perhaps the planets are aligning for a class of 1993 reunion. Help us out with one thing though, in the picture to the side, who is that Eraserhead-looking kid in the back? We seem to have blocked him out...
