Little is known about American Horror Story's upcoming season. Set in a different time and place, Season 2 will feature a whole new cast of characters, but there will be at least one familiar face in the crowd. Season 1 favorite Jessica Lange will be returning to the Ryan Murphy drama and MTV shared the details on her new role!
Series writer Tim Minear talked to MTV about Lange's reinvention. "She's not playing this kind of ersatz Tennessee Williams character this time," Minear said. "She's playing something that's a little more East Coast, a little more patrician."
In fact, Lange will do a complete 180 from the dark and twisted lush she played last season. "She's playing a nun," Minear said. "She's playing an administrator of a facility. It's different. In this instance, she's a bride of Christ."
Lange's turn as a nun isn't the only intriguing aspect of Season 2. Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach Adam Levine will be playing one of "The Lovers." Minear described Levine's character as "kind of a nod to contemporary sensibilities, as opposed to something from the mid-century.
In addition to Lange, Levine will join other returning cast members Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe
American Horror Story returns to FX this fall.
