It’s been leaked that a popular character is making their return in series 7 of Doctor Who. Those who want to stay spoiler-free, look away now…
A Doctor Who relationship rumour has been doing the rounds this morning involving the Doctor’s new companion and a season 6 character who’s set to make a return for season 7.
That character? Madame Vastra, the Silurian warrior-turned Victorian crime-fighter who first appeared in A Good Man Goes to War. The Evening Standard, via er, The Daily Star, has it that Vastra “will reportedly fall for the Doctor’s new sidekick Clara, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman” in the latter half of the new series.
We wonder how Vastra’s own companion Jenny will feel about that? Or, if it turns out to be true, whether her feelings for the Doctor’s new companion are reciprocated?
Coincidentally, the ever-hard-to-pin-down Steven Moffat introduced his Twitter followers last week to Vastra actress Neve McIntosh’s new account with the following words “Madame Vastra has come out to play with the mammals @McIntoshNeve”.
When asked by a fan on Twitter whether she was to be recast as Madame Vastra however, McIntosh replied “I wish…Still thinking up plot lines to pitch to Mr Moffat” which either means the rumour’s bunkum, or she's just as good as Moffat at keeping us all guessing.
