The series was the first ever UK TV show to make use of social networking as opposed to phone voting last summer, and will continue those innovations this series.
Testing on the Twitter voting app is currently underway, with work being carried by social media company Telescope, who have provided similar solutions for American shows such as The X Factor USA.
It’s unclear if votes will cost anything, and if they do how they will be charged, but leaked screenshots show that only one vote will be allowed per Twitter user.
Meanwhile, Facebook voting will also return although the cost for a vote will increase by more four times.
Last year’s series charged approximately 7p per vote or one Facebook credit, which increases this year to 5 credits, or around 31p.
Viewers will still be able to vote via their landlines, with calls charged at 36p.
Mobile users however will have some good news this summer, with the prices of votes being fixed at 35p thanks to Mobile Short Codes. The special six digit numbers, which have been used for the first time by The Voice UK and Britain’s Got Talent this year, reduces the cost of premium voting lines from mobile phones, regardless of network.
