ABC has decided to live with "The Neighbors" a little bit longer.
The network has ordered three more scripts for the freshman comedy, which stars Lenny Venito and Jami Gertz as a couple that moves its family to a gated community in New Jersey, only to find out that their new neighbors are aliens from another planet.
The series has a commitment for its pilot and an additional 12 episodes.
The series got off to an encouraging start with its late-September premiere, thanks to a lead-in from the popular comedy "Modern Family," scoring a 3.3 rating/9 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic and drawing 9 million total viewers.
However, the following week in its regular Wednesday-night timeslot, the series fell significantly to a 2.0/6 and drew just 6.6 million total viewers.
The series, created by Dan Fogelman ("Tangled," "Bolt"), is produced by ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment.
