CBS is preparing to explore the lighter side of ethnic tensions with its latest project.
The network is developing a half-hour comedy, "Nobody Trusts Maz," as a vehicle for Maz Jobrani, an Iranian-born American comedian and member of the Axis of Evil comedy group.
Jobrani would star in the project, about a couple with a Persian-American husband and an Irish-American wife, whose in-laws must grapple to accept the non-homogenous union.
Former "Cheers" executive producer Phoef Sutton, who has served as a consulting producer on CBS's similarly culture clash-themed "Rob," will write and executive-produce. Eric and Kim Tannenbaum ("Two and a Half Men," "Rob") will also executive-produce the project, which comes via CBS Television studios.
