Kiefer Sutherland Drama 'Touch' Gets Expansive Global Launch
Kiefer Sutherland is going global with his latest project -- and in a manner befitting his former terrorist-clobbering "24" character Jack Bauer, he's doing it in a hurry.
Sutherland's new Fox drama "Touch" will launch globally next month, in a collaboration that will see the series premiere nearly simultaneously in more than 100 countries worldwide.
The global launch will be preceded by an international promotional tour by Sutherland, culminating in a "global media event" in New York on March 18 -- a date that "figures prominently in 'Touch'’s pilot episode," according to Fox.
The U.S. debut of "Touch" will occur on Wed., March 19,on Fox at 9 p.m., with the international launches taking place throughou that week. (Those who can't wait until then can check a preview of "Touch" on Fox at 9 p.m. ET this Wednesday.)
The global launch is in keeping with the premise of the series, which will "follow seemingly unrelated people all over the world whose lives affect each other in ways seen and unseen."
The series, which is written and executive-produced by former "Heroes" honcho Tim Kring, stars Sutherland as widower Martin Bohm, whose emotionally challenged 11-year-old son Jake (played by "Amish Grace" actor David Mazouz) possesses " the ability to perceive the seemingly hidden patterns that connect every life on the planet."
Consumer-goods company Unilever will serve as the series' worldwide advertising partner.
