TV Ratings: 'Shark Tank' Boosts ABC, 'Grimm' Jumps Double Digits
"Chuck" hits season highs, but it's ABC that takes home the Friday victory.
ABC took home the ratings victory on Friday, usually reserved for CBS, which ran repeats of its dramas.
Shark Tank (6.2 million total viewers, 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 demographic) returned for season 3, up a dramatic 42 percent among adults 18-49 compared to its time period premiere in March last year (1.7 vs. 1.2). It was enough to take the 8 p.m, hour, topping closest competitor Fox's Kitchen Nightmares.
The season premiere of What Would You Do? (5.8 million, 1.6) managed a close No. 2 at 9 p.m. after NBC's Grimm, but drew its biggest audience since November 2010. Newsmagazine 20/20 (7.2 million, 1.8) broadcast a report about the Costa Concordia cruise ship tragedy, posting its second-highest ratings thus far this season -- and easily winning the 10 p.m. slot.
NBC placed second on the night on the strength of Grimm's ratings performance. Grimm (5.9 million, 1.8) notched its highest-rated and most-watched episode since Nov. 4 -- the series' second hour. Compared to the previous week, Grimm saw huge jumps of 27 percent in viewership (5.9 million vs. 4.6 million) and 29 percent among 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.4). For the night, the hourlong drama tied with 20/20 as Friday's highest-rated telecast.
Chuck hit season highs, drawing 3.8 million viewers and a 1.1. Dateline (5.5 million, 1.4) also saw an 8 percent rise in the demo.
Fox's Kitchen Nightmares (3.9 million, 1.5) rose slightly, while Fringe (3.2 million, 1.1) remained steady from last week's series low.
