Ratings: 'Game of Thrones' Season Premiere Slays Series Premiere
"Game of Thrones" season two got off to a bloody good start in more ways than one.
Sunday night's second-season premiere of HBO's swords-and-dragons epic fantasy series easily trounced the impressive viewership of the show's series premiere last year, and handily bested last season's average and finale viewership.
Over three airings Sunday night, "Game of Thrones" amassed 6.3 million total viewers, with the 9 p.m. premiere airing alone drawing 3.9 million viewers.
Sunday's premiere airing boasted a 74 percent improvement over the series premiere, and a 53 percent jump over the first season average. Sunday's "Thrones" also jumped 27 percent over last season's finale, which grabbed 3 million viewers with its initial airing.
