Tricia O'Kelley replaces 'Eureka' star in Roseanne Barr comedy pilot
Tricia O'Kelley has joined Roseanne Barr's comedy pilot Downwardly Mobile due to the recasting of a character.
Downwardly Mobile is set at a mobile home park, with Barr playing the park's owner and a surrogate mother to the residents.
O'Kelley will portray a new resident to the home park as her character Mrs Denby is the wife of of a hedge fund administrator (Greg Cromer) who recently lost everything in a Ponzi scheme. They moved into the park to start over, but Mrs Denby isn't too happy with her new surroundings.
Mrs Denby was originally set to be played by Eureka actress Salli Richardson, but Richardshon, who has never acted in a comedy series, "didn't feel quite comfortable at the table read" on Friday (April 13), reports Deadline.
Barr apparently stood up for Richardson and she was kept for the role, but the recasting for Mrs Denby was done at the end of the pilot's run-though today (April 14).
O'Kelley's past sitcoms include The New Adventures of Old Christine, Malcolm in the Middle, Two and a Half Men and Everybody Loves Raymond.
Downwardly Mobile also features Jason Antoon as a stay-at-home dad to his daughter (Kendra Jain) with wife Sheila (Romy Rosemont).
John Goodman is also cast in the pilot, making it a reunion for him and Barr, as they played husband and wife in Roseanne.
