Noah Wyle has promised that the second season of Falling Skies will be stronger than the first.
The 41-year-old actor plays alien fighter Tom Mason on the sci-fi drama, which returned to UK screens on FX last night.
"I think, in a lot of ways, we have a much stronger season than last year," Wyle told SciFiNow. "First and foremost because we don't have to dedicate so much time to the exposition of what the world is and what's happened and who these characters are.
"We are able to start off right where we left off, and that's made it a lot more efficient storytelling - we've got into deeper character issues and more interesting conflict."
It was recently reported that TNT was close to picking up Falling Skies for a third season.
Wyle recently spoke to Digital Spy about Lost star Terry O'Quinn's upcoming role on the show.
"Terry comes in [to the show] towards the end of the season," he explained. "It comes to pass that he and Tom have quite a significant backstory together, so it's a meeting up of two old friends."
Falling Skies airs on FX in the UK and on TNT in the US.
