Dancing On Ice, X Factor the most complained about reality TV shows of 2011
Dancing On Ice and The X Factor have topped the list of this year’s most complained about reality telly shows. Both ITV1 shows racked up hundreds of emails to Ofcom over the past 12 months, while an unusually tame Big Brother saw just 85.
Jason Gardiner’s comments to Johnson Beharry and his subsequent argument with head coach Karen Barber on Dancing On Ice back in January was the most complained about moment, with almost 800 complaints. It was also the second most complained about TV moment of the whole year, behind only Channel 5′s day time chat show The Wright Stuff.
The X Factor meanwhile managed an impressive total of just under 700 complaints from some 15 separate incidents, from judge Tulisa’s salute to some of the guest performances.
Britain’s Got Talent saw 198 complaints from four incidents, while Strictly Come Dancing had just 38 emails to TV watchdog Ofcom.
23 people complained about I’m A Celebrity, while not a single complaint was lodged about either this year’s Apprentice or Junior Apprentice series.
