'The Voice' Australia premiere cleans up in ratings
The Voice Australia has won its first ratings battle with Dancing with the Stars, drawing in over two million viewers with its premiere episode last night.
Early viewing figures from OzTAM indicate that 2.18 million viewers watched the show's debut on the Nine Network - a 37.2% channel share and 42% network share.
The Voice Australia features Seal, Delta Goodrem, Good Charlotte's Joel Madden and country musician Keith Urban as its coaches.
The annual Logie Awards also provided a strong lead-in for Nine, with 1.8 million viewers tuning in for pre-show coverage on the red carpet and 1.3 million viewers watching the telecast of the awards from Melbourne.
The premiere of the latest season of Dancing with the Stars Australia on the Seven Network attracted just 1.07 million viewers in comparison.
Following former co-host Sonia Kruger's defection to the Nine Network to host a revived Big Brother, Spice Girls singer Mel B has joined Wild Boys actor Daniel MacPherson to host the programme.
