Starz's 'Magic City' Headed to Canada's Super Channel

Canadian pay TV operator Super Channel is doubling down on programming from Starz Media.
A multi-year licensing and programming deal with Starz Media Worldwide Distribution will see Super Channel debut the Starz period mob drama Magic City on April 6, day and date with its U.S. release.
Set in Miami’s Miramar Playa Hotel in 1959, Magic City stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko and Danny Huston.
The ensemble cast includes Steven Strait, Christian Cooke, Jessica Marais, Yul Vazquez, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Kelly Lynch and Elena Satine (Just Go With It).
Magic City was created by writer Mitch Glazer, who will executive produce the series with Geyer Kosinski, Ed Bianchi and Dwayne Shattuck.
Super Channel earlier acquired the Starz series Boss from Lionsgate Television, which will air back-to-back with Magic City.
The Canadian premium TV service is also taking around a dozen movie titles from Starz, to include Beautiful Boy, Kill the Irishman, Meet Monica Velour and Sinners and Saints.
Super Channel acquired earlier Starz Media product like Onion News Network, Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-Up, and documentary and TV specials.
The pay TV operator faces stiff competition from rivals The Movie Network and Movie Central, which have long-standing output deals with Showtime and HBO.
