Alan Sugar on 'Apprentice' firings: 'I have made mistakes'
Lord Alan Sugar has confessed that he has made mistakes with his firings on BBC One's The Apprentice.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Sugar said that he was pleased with the winners of his show, but that he had made the wrong call on a couple of occasions during the early stages of the competition.
When asked by a reader whether he had ever made mistakes on the BBC One reality series, Sugar admitted: "Yes, I think so. Yeah, I think sometimes you fire the wrong person.
"I don't think I've made too many mistakes in picking the winner. The mistake or firing the wrong person is usually in the early episodes of the show. Something like episode five, six or seven.
"But not when we get down to the end because at that point you tend to know who your characters are."
Former Apprentice champion Yasmina Siadatan became the latest winner to quit working for Sugar earlier this year. Meanwhile, 2010 champion Stella English is reportedly involved in a legal wrangle with Sugar about her exit from his company.
The Apprentice launches its eighth series later this month on BBC One.
