Only Way Is Essex Nanny Pat secures book deal about East End childhood
The Only Way Is Essex star Nanny Pat has landed an autobiography publishing deal.
The 75-year-old, real name Patricia Brooker, will release Penny Sweets and Cobbled Streets: My East End Childhood in August, according to The Bookseller.
Pan MacMillan has acquired the rights to her story, which will follow her as a youngster growing up in the 1930s and 1940s in Bow, London. Pat ran her household following the death of her mother when she was only 11.
The book will cover her "childhood in the poor but close-knit community, working in a cork factory, and meeting her future husband Charlie".
"This wonderful memoir is filled with Pat's trademark warmth and humour, touching anecdotes of life in the East End and fabulous descriptions of colourful characters, from her deaf Nan to Auntie Alice, who would dress in all her furs and finery just to pop out to buy a pork chop," said editorial director Ingrid Connell.
"Pat takes us right back to the world of her childhood, and in doing so vividly captures a lost way of life."
Pat is the grandmother of fellow TOWIE breakout stars Mark Wright and Jessica Wright.
