Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management" will likely get picked up for its full 90-episode order, Lionsgate executives told analysts on Friday.
So far, the show appears likely to achieve the ratings threshold it needs to hit in order to trigger a deal with FX, which broadcasts the critically panned sitcom, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said.
“Anger Management” has attracted 3.4 million viewers on and 1.7 million in the key 18-to-49 year-old demographic during its first seven episodes. Lionsgate has not disclosed what numbers it must achieve in order to secure an order for more episodes.
Feltheimer said there will be "a significantly larger amount of episodes" being produced, and Lionsgate Television Group President Kevin Beggs said that writers were already at work on new episodes with shooting scheduled to start in September.
The company is anticipating producing 40 episodes annually, which FX could air at its discretion.
Feltheimer also announced that Sheen's father, "The West Wing" star Martin Sheen, will join the show in a recurring role.
