Queen Latifah's 'The Star Next Door' talent show picked up by The CW
The CW Network has ordered three new reality series for this summer, including a nationwide music competition from Queen Latifah.
The actress and rapper's show is titled The Star Next Door, and is executive produced by The Biggest Loser's Dave Broom.
Mentors including Gloria Estefan and country star John Rich will travel the country to discover existing local talent. Produced by Raquel Productions, 25/7 Productions and Flavour Unit Entertainment, more mentors and a host are due to be revealed soon.
Following the success of last year year's Oscar-winning Black Swan, Breaking Pointe will provide a look inside the competitive world of ballet dancing.
Set inside the Ballet West company in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kate Shepherd (Big Brother: According to Russell Brand) and Bill Langworthy from The Hills' spin-off The City will team up to executive produce the show.
The series comes from BBC Worldwide, where Izzie Pick Ashcroft and Jane Tranter are executive producers.
Finally, The Catalina delves inside the lives of staff at a hotel of the same name, situated on vibrant Miami's South Beach. From Bischoff Hervey Entertainment, Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey from iMPACT Wrestling and Confessions of a Teen Idol are executive producers.
The new programmes join previously announced game show Oh Sit!. Described as a high-stakes, high-octane musical chairs competition, the format features 20 thrill-seeking daredevils playing musical chairs across five obstacle courses, soundtracked by a live band.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz said: "One of my first goals here at The CW was to increase the number of hours of original programming, both throughout the season and during the summer.
"With these four new reality series, we're launching our biggest summer schedule yet which will boost our circulation during the summer months and provide us with a promotional platform for our fall launch."
