'Southland' to be picked up for fifth season?
Southland is likely to be picked up for a fifth season, a report suggests.
The cop drama - which stars Ben McKenzie and Michael Cudlitz - is expected to be renewed by cable network TNT, according to Variety.
Network boss Michael Wright and Turner Entertainment Networks president Steve Koonin are said to be happy with the show's ratings and critical reception.
Audience numbers for the current fourth season, which have averaged 3m, are up from the previous year.
Southland originally aired on NBC, but the network cancelled the show before the second season had aired.
TNT later aired the original episodes and subsequently picked the series up for a third run.
Last year, Southland star Regina King claimed that TNT treated the show with more respect than its original network.
"We were being told that [NBC] loved the show... but yet we weren't seeing any type of advertisement," she said. "We weren't doing any interviews. It was just odd."
The fourth season of Southland continues on Tuesdays at 10/9c on TNT. In the UK, the show airs on More4.
