The Killing 2 draws more than 800,000 viewers
Launch of second series of Danish crime drama attracts more than double the audience of first season's debut
The much-anticipated second series of Danish crime drama The Killing on BBC4 began with more than 800,000 viewers on Saturday – twice the number who watched the first run's opening episode.
Saturday's return of Sarah Lund and her crime-busting jumper to UK TV attracted 815,000 viewers, a 3.1% share of the audience, between 9pm and 10pm on BBC4.
This was more than double the 393,000 viewers who saw the first series opener in January this year.
Viewing dipped slightly for The Killing's second episode, which followed immediately after the first, with 606,000 viewers (2.9%) between 10pm and 11pm.
The Killing was the third most-watched multichannel show on Saturday, after ITV2's I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here Now! (831,000/4.9% including ITV2+1) and Sky Sports 2's live coverage of Arsenal 2-1 win against Norwich (823,000/8.3%).
