Zachary Quinto confirmed as 'American Horror Story' series regular
Zachary Quinto has been confirmed as a series regular for season two of American Horror Story.
The Star Trek actor has been promoted to a lead cast member following his guest appearance in four episodes of the show's debut run last year.
Quinto played the Harmon house's former co-owner Chad Warwick in American Horror Story's first season, but will portray a different character when the FX drama returns.
According to Deadline, his alter ego will be one of two male leads and the nemesis to returning cast member Jessica Lange's new protagonist.
Quinto expressed a desire to return to American Horror Story in January, saying: "I had an amazing time... Next season could get turned on its head completely, but I would love to continue work on that. It was a great experience."
Series producer Ryan Murphy confirmed this week that season two has been designed "completely around" Lange.
"We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her," he said. "[We] have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character."
Murphy is expected to announce the identities of three more returning American Horror Story cast members in the near future.
The show's second season will air on FX later this year.
