Jenna-Louise Coleman: Ten Things about the new 'Doctor Who' star

Jenna-Louise Coleman: Ten Things about the new 'Doctor Who' star

It's been confirmed - Titanic and Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman is the new Doctor Who companion! But before she hops aboard the TARDIS with Matt Smith's Time Lord, why not check out our ten interesting facts about the 25-year-old star?

1. Coleman was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England on April 27, 1986.

2. She won the role of lesbian Jasmine Thomas on ITV soap Emmerdale in 2005, whilst auditioning for drama schools.

3. In 2006, Jenna-Louise admitted that part of her regretted missing out on the traditional university lifestyle that her friends enjoyed. "Part of me feels sorry I'm missing that," she said. "But I'm living the life I want."

4. Later that year, Coleman expressed a desire to work more in the theatre, telling a fansite: "I'd love to work across all three fields - theatre, film and TV. Definitely theatre – I miss it!"

'Walking Dead' Videogame Coming in April

'Walking Dead' Videogame Coming in April

"Walking Dead" fans who want to play out their zombie-zonking fantasies will be in luck next month, when Telltale Games releases "The Walking Dead: The Game."

Telltale, which has also produced videogame adaptations of "Back to the Future," "Jurassic Park" and "Law & Order," is offering the game for pre-order now and tells TheWrap the game will be available "late in April." It will be released for Xbox Live, Playstation Network, PC, Mac and iOS.

"Walking Dead" comics creator Robert Kirkman consulted with Telltale on the game, and even introduces the just-released trailer for the zombie apocalypse adventure.

The multi-episode game will follow the same basic timeline as the "Walking Dead" graphic novels and will feature some of the characters from the comics and TV show (Glenn, for example). It will also introduce new characters like a man named Lee (pictured) who will lead some survivors, and a little girl named Clementine.

The official game website includes "Playing Dead," an online talk show in which the videogame's writers and designers discuss creating the game and its characters and storylines.

Abby Elliott Exits Fox's 'Ned Fox Is My Manny' Pilot

Abby Elliott Exits Fox's 'Ned Fox Is My Manny' Pilot

"Saturday Night Live" actress Abby Elliott is out as the lead in the Fox pilot "Ned Fox Is My Manny."

Elliott was determined to be wrong for the role after a table read for the sitcom, 20th Century Fox Television confirms. She was to have played Kate Fox, a tightly wound, type-A woman who learns to re-enter the world with help from her free-spirited manny, played by "Descendants" co-screenwriter Nat Faxon.

The show is written by Dana Fox, who is executive producing with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. Lucy Punch, Maggie Jones and Echo Kellum also star.

Elliott's ouster means she won't have to choose between "Manny" and "Saturday Night Live." She had been expected to exit the NBC show, which also featured her father, Chris Elliott, if the pilot is ordered to series.

She also would have been following her father's career path by starring in "Manny": Chris Elliott starred in Fox's "Get a Life," in the early days of the network.

Elliott is best known on "SNL" for her portrayals of Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, and other stars.

'Terra Nova' Star Jason O'Mara Saddles Up for Ralph Lamb Pilot

'Terra Nova' Star Jason O'Mara Saddles Up for Ralph Lamb Pilot

Jason O'Mara is getting back to work after Fox's cancellation of the troubled dinosaur drama "Terra Nova."

O'Mara, who played Jim Shannon on the recently axed program, has lined up a starring role in the upcoming Untitled Ralph Lamb Project pilot on CBS, alongside Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis.

As with his last TV project, O'Mara will also be traveling back in time for this one, albeit not as far: Set in the 1960s, the projects centers around the true story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy who went on to become the longtime sheriff of Las Vegas. O'Mara will play Frank, the younger brother to Quaid's Ralph Lamb.

"Goodfellas" writer Nicholas Pileggi and "Without a Trace" and "Smallville" vet Greg Walker are writing the project, as well as producing, along with James Mangold, Cathy Konrad, Arthur Sarkissian. Chiklis and Quaid are co-executive producing.

TBS to Premiere "Men at Work" and "Sullivan & Son" This Summer

TBS to Premiere "Men at Work" and "Sullivan & Son" This Summer

Thursdays are about to get funnier than ever. TBS has announced its original buddy comedy Men at Work, starring Danny Masterson (That '70s Show, Yes Man), Michael Cassidy (The O.C), Adam Busch (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and James Lesure (Las Vegas), will air Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning May 24. TBS's new workplace comedy Sullivan & Son, starring popular comedian Steve Byrne, will take over the timeslot when it premieres Thursday, July 19, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). The announcement comes just as TBS claims an important victory as basic cable's #1 network with adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 in primetime.

Created by Breckin Meyer (TNT's Franklin & Bash, Robot Chicken), Men at Work follows the misadventures of four buddies who work together at a magazine. Masterson plays the recently dumped Milo, whose friends are determined to help him get back in the game. Lesure is Gibbs, a photographer and successful ladies man. Cassidy plays Tyler, a features writer who brings a dose of style and sophistication to the group. And Busch is Neal, a somewhat nebbish reporter and the only one in the group with a steady girlfriend. Together, the four serve as each other's wingmen as they navigate work, friendship and women.

Men at Work comes to TBS from Sony Pictures Television and Fanfare, is executive-produced by Breckin Meyer, along with Fanfare's Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings, TNT's Franklin & Bash, TBS's My Boys) and Julia Franz (Scrubs). The sitcom will launch with back-to-back episodes at 10 and 10:30 p.m. on May 24. It will then air in its regular 10 p.m. timeslot beginning May 31.

Sullivan & Son, which is executive-produced by Vince Vaughn (The Break- Up), Peter Billingsley (Iron Man) and show-runner Rob Long (Cheers), takes place in a popular bar in a working-class Pittsburgh neighborhood. Filled with locals and regulars, the establishment known as Sullivan & Son serves as the unofficial "town hall" for the neighborhood. As the series opens, Steve Sullivan (Byrne) is a successful corporate attorney from New York who brings his girlfriend, Ashley (guest star Brooke Lyons - 2 Broke Girls) for a visit just as his Irish-American father, Jack Sullivan (Dan Lauria - The Wonder Years), and Korean mother, Ok Cha (Jodi Long - Beginners), are preparing to sell the bar and retire. Upon arrival, Steve reconnects with his best friend, Owen (Owen Benjamin - The House Bunny); gets accosted by his long-suffering, under-appreciated younger sister, Susan (Vivian Bang - Yes Man); endures offensive comments from gruff barfly Hank (Brian Doyle Murray - Groundhog Day, Saturday Night Live); and gets hit on by tipsy cougar Carol (Christine Ebersole - Royal Pains, Amadeus). He even feels a rekindled romantic spark with his former sweetheart, Melanie (Valerie Azlynn - Tropic Thunder).

It doesn't take Steve long to realize that what he really wants out of life is to return to the old neighborhood and take over Sullivan & Son, even if it means giving up a lavish Manhattan lifestyle with the gorgeous Ashley. And so begins Steve's quest for a more meaningful and rewarding life behind the bar. Sullivan & Son is from Wild West Picture Show Productions, in association with Warner Horizon Television.

'Doctor Who' new series avoids two-part episodes, says Steven Moffat

'Doctor Who' new series avoids two-part episodes, says Steven Moffat

Steven Moffat has revealed that the upcoming seventh series of Doctor Who will have standalone episodes.

The showrunner explained that the latest series will prioritise several separate stories over a long-running story arc or two-part episodes.

"As ever, there's a bit of both," he told the Radio Times at Tuesday night's RTS Awards. "But this time we're moving closer to stand-alone stories. At this point, we're not planning any two-parters. So, every week is going to be like a different mad movie."

He added: "We went quite 'arc' last time and we're going stand-alone this time around. But that doesn't mean that there aren't those things creeping in.

"You've got to find a way to make the last episode special, and by God that worked ratings-wise last year. We don't want to abandon that idea."

When asked for any extra teasers for the new series, Moffat revealed: "Watch out for the title of episode two. I think that's a belter. It's one of my favourite titles ever."

Moffat has also played down the possibility of Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch appearing in Doctor Who in the near future.

JPMorgan Chase Reaches Settlement on $150M AFTRA Suit

JPMorgan Chase Reaches Settlement on $150M AFTRA Suit

JPMorgan Chase has agreed to settle a $150 million lawsuit by the AFTRA retirement fund, the investment bank revealed Tuesday in court filings and on its website.

The suit centered on losses sustained from the bank's securities lending program.

AFTRA,  the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and benefits administrators from two other unions claim that their money was improperly used to back a risky investment fund, Sigma Finance Corp.

Sigma went belly-up during the global financial crisis in 2008.

"Resolution of the case at this juncture allow the parties to avoid the risks and costs associated with trial, as well as potential years of continued litigation on appeal," attorneys for the plaintiffs wrote in a court filing.

In agreeing to settle, JP Morgan did not admit wrongdoing.

The Imperial County Employees’ Retirement System and the Investment Committee of the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating System joined AFTRA  in the suit.

The settlement is still pending approval from a judge.

'Sherlock' Steven Moffat on 'Elementary': 'We said no to CBS'

'Sherlock' Steven Moffat on 'Elementary': 'We said no to CBS'

Steven Moffat has commented on the CBS Sherlock Holmes pilot Elementary.

The project, which will transpose Conan Doyle's detective to present-day New York, has been compared to Moffat's BBC drama Sherlock.

"They approached us to remake our show, we said no and they just decided to make one anyway," Moffat told journalists at a press conference this morning (March 21).

He added: "I'll just leave you to speculate on what I think about that!"

However, Moffat reiterated that Elementary is not officially considered a remake of Sherlock.

"That's not a re-version of our show, they just decided to make one anyway," he said.

The writer - who also works on Doctor Who - also joked that a US remake of the sci-fi drama would be "blasphemy".

"It wouldn't be up to me, because the BBC owns Doctor Who and not me, but I don't think it would be a good idea," he explained.

"There's only one Doctor and Doctor Who is a hit over there already, so no, I wouldn't like that personally."

Elementary is currently under consideration for the CBS 2012-13 television season. A third series of Sherlock is expected to start filming in 2013.

IFC Unveils "Slightly Off" Originals for 2012/2013 Season

IFC Unveils "Slightly Off" Originals for 2012/2013 Season

Today, at the network's first-ever Upfront event, IFC unveiled its 2012/2013 original programming line-up which includes the return for a third season of its breakout hit series, PORTLANDIA and a second season of WHISKER WARS. IFC also announced the addition of two new scripted comedies: the animated series OUT THERE, and MARON (working title), featuring comedian and podcast phenom Marc Maron; and a new installment of R. Kelly's hip hopera, TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET. IFC also announced it will premiere its summer originals COMEDY BANG! BANG! and BUNK back-to-back on Friday, June 8, offering viewers a full hour of "slightly off" original comedies.

IFC's Executive Vice President & General Manager, Jennifer Caserta, commented: "This past year, our first as an ad-supported network, has been an amazing one for IFC. Original series including Portlandia connected with audiences and have helped to further establish the network as the premier destination for fresh, original programming that celebrates what's off-kilter in the world of comedy. We've also received a great response from advertisers who recognize the value of our hard-to-reach audience. IFC added 50 new clients, broke into the QSR, fast casual dining, snack food and beverage categories for the first time, and we continue to work with our partners to integrate their brands in unique ways that drive value and keep viewers engaged."

Following is IFC's 2012/2013 original programming line-up:

2012

COMEDY BANG! BANG! (10x30)

Premieres Friday, June 8

Based on Scott Aukerman's (co-creator/director/producer, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis; writer/performer, Mr. Show) popular podcast of the same name, COMEDY BANG! BANG! cleverly riffs on the well-known format of the late night talk show, infusing celebrity appearances and comedy sketches with a tinge of the surreal. In each episode, Aukerman engages his guests with unfiltered and improvisational lines of questioning, punctuated by banter and beats provided by bandleader, one-man musical mastermind Reggie Watts (Conan), to reinvent the traditional celebrity interview. Packed with character cameos, filmic shorts, sketches and games set amongst an off-beat world, COMEDY BANG! BANG! delivers thirty minutes of absurd laugh- loaded fun featuring some of the biggest names in comedy.

Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ed Helms (The Office), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Seth Rogen (50/50), Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), "Weird Al" Yankovic (comedian/musician), and many others, all join in on the laughs with Aukerman and bandleader, one-man musical mastermind Reggie Watts (Conan).

COMEDY BANG! BANG! is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions; Aukerman, Leo Allen and Dave Kneebone serve as executive producers. Jennifer Caserta, Debbie DeMontreux, Christine Lubrano and Evan Shapiro serve as the executive producers for IFC.

Contestants are armed with nothing but their wits as they respond to images they've never seen before, make up songs on the spot, complete drawing and sculpture challenges and interact with modern dancers, puppies, babies, gospel singers and more, all under the watchful eye of host Kurt Braunohler.

BUNK is produced for IFC by Avalon Television; Eric Bryant, Ethan T. Berlin, David Martin, Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner serve as executive producers. Kurt Braunohler and Dan Lubetkin serve as co-executive producers. Jennifer Caserta, Debbie DeMontreux, Erin Keating, Dan Pasternack and Evan Shapiro serve as the executive producers for IFC.

Part contemporary movie musical, part urban operetta and part epic music video, TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET initially debuted on IFC and ifc.com in 2007 delivering the network's most robust online audience ever. The premiere chapters were a suspenseful, mysterious, humorous and dramatic story, packed with cliffhangers and unexpected twists and turns. Now, Sylvester, Rufus, Cathy, Gwendolyn, Bridget, Big Man, Rosie the Nosy Neighbor, Twan and Pimp Lucius are back! This year, the crew reunites on IFC in the next installments of R. Kelly's continuing hip hopera about a group of characters interconnected by sexual exploits, little people and a mysterious package.

PORTLANDIA SEASON 3 (10x30; 1x60; 1x30)

Premieres January 2013; PORTLANDIA: THE BRUNCH SPECIAL Airs Summer 2012; 30-Minute Special Airs Holiday Season 2012

From the comedic duo of Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag), the critically acclaimed PORTLANDIA caught viewers by storm, infiltrating catchphrases into the cultural conversation such as "Put a Bird On It" and "We Can Pickle That." Hailed by Salon as the "smartest sketch comedy show on TV," the second season, which concluded on March 9, is IFC's most-watched series ever, delivering 13.5 million total viewers (P2+), marking a +150% increase over season one.

Throughout the first two seasons of PORTLANDIA, viewers were introduced to a variety of eccentric characters, including Peter and Nance, an overly eco-conscious couple caught up in the organic and local food movement; Bryce and Lisa, an artsy, obsessive couple who find new trends to explore; and Toni and Candace, the formerly activist, self-involved shopkeepers of the feminist bookstore, "Women and Women First." The show continues to feature an eclectic roster of guest stars including Kyle MacLachlan's recurring character as Portland's trusty but misguided mayor, Jeff Goldblum, Penny Marshall, Tim Robbins, Andy Samberg, Eddie Vedder, and Kristin Wiig, to name a few.

In addition to an all-new season, IFC is offering viewers, who just can't seem to get enough of PORTLANDIA, a one-hour special this summer, titled PORTLANDIA: THE BRUNCH SPECIAL, followed by a second half-hour special in time for the holidays later this year.

Shot entirely on location in Portland, OR the series is directed, co-created and co-written by Jonathan Krisel (SNL; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video. For IFC, season three is executive produced by Jennifer Caserta, Debbie DeMontreux, Christine Lubrano and Evan Shapiro.

OUT THERE (10x30)

Premieres January 2013

OUT THERE follows the coming-of-age adventures of Chad, his little brother Jay, and best friend Chris. Living in a small town, the boys run face first into the wall of adolescence, the horrors of puberty, first loves, mortal enemies, local legends, and social ostracism. They experience the wonderment and frustration of that terrifying limbo between childhood and adulthood. Growing up is weird to do... OUT THERE.

OUT THERE is created, written by and executive produced by Emmy(R) winning animation director and producer, Ryan Quincy, who was the longtime animation director for South Park. The series is produced for IFC by 20th Century Fox Television.

MARON (working title; 10x30)

Premieres 3Q 2013

Marc Maron has been a comedian for 25 years. He's had his problems. He was an angry, drunk, self involved, twice divorced compulsive mess for most of his adult life, but with the popularity of a podcast he does in his garage and a life of sobriety, his life and career are turning around. MARON (wt) explores a fictionalized version of Marc's life, his relationships, and his career, including his incredibly popular WTF podcast, which features conversations Marc conducts with celebrities and fellow comedians. Neurosis intact, Maron is uniquely fascinating, absolutely compelling and brutally funny.

Produced for IFC by Fox Television Studios and Denis Leary and Jim Serpico's Apostle, MARON (wt) is directed by Oscar(R) winning director Luke Matheny (God of Love) and executive produced by Marc Maron, Denis Leary, Jim Serpico, Olivia Wingate, and Duncan Birmingham, who also serves as the series' writer.

'Doctor Who': Weeping Angels return for Amy and Rory exit

'Doctor Who': Weeping Angels return for Amy and Rory exit

The big Doctor Who news today was the unveiling of Jenna-Louise Coleman as the new companion to Matt Smith's Time Lord, but a few other interesting morsels slipped out at this morning's (March 21) press conference...

Showrunner Steven Moffat revealed that current Who stars Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) will exit the sci-fi drama following a final fateful encounter with the terrifying Weeping Angels. "Not everybody gets out alive - and I mean it this time!" he teased.

But how do you think the Ponds should be written out? Will it be Amy or Rory to bite the bullet, or possibly another character altogether? And are you happy that the Weeping Angels are returning to see off Gillan and Darvill?

The Tabloids Have Named Doctor Who’s New Companion…

The Tabloids Have Named Doctor Who’s New Companion…

Jenna Louise Coleman, former Emmerdale Farmactress, co-star of Julian Fellowes’ upcoming Titanic miniseries and bit-part player in Captain America: The First Avenger.

The official announcement is coming at 10.30 this morning or thereabouts.

We will either update this story with confirmation – most likely; or, if the tabs have gotten it wrong, we’ll tell you who has got the gig.

Incidentally, last night’s rumours of Aisling Loftus have been traced to a single message board posting on a Doctor Who fan forum. Within minutes they were being treated like fact around the Who-sphere, within minutes more, I had heard about them, and then a little later, I shared them here – maintaining scepticism all the way.

The Coleman reports seem to be much better sourced.

Julian Fellowes: 'James Cameron's Titanic made victims villains'

Julian Fellowes: 'James Cameron's Titanic made victims villains'

Julian Fellowes has insisted that his Titanic mini-series will not turn victims of the disaster into villains like James Cameron's movie.

The Downton Abbey creator objected to the inaccurate and "unfair" portrayal of first officer William Murdoch, who in the 1997 Oscar-winner is seen committing suicide after shooting dead two passengers amid the sinking.

surviving relatives received an apology from producers about his treatment, having complained that the real Murdoch worked diligently until the ship's final moments and perished at sea.

"That was very unfair how Murdoch was depicted. He wasn't cowardly," Fellowes told the Radio Times. "He fired the pistol to just stop a potential riot. It was suddenly getting out of hand, and he fired it in the air. That's not being cowardly."

Claiming that Murdoch is credited with saving the lives of 75 Titanic passengers, Fellowes continued: "I don't think you can just say, 'Well, we'll make this guy a villain - he'll do'. I think with real people you have a kind of imperative to be true to who they were.

"I don't think you can take someone who was moral and decent and make them do something immoral and indecent. I would feel uncomfortable doing that. So we do have Murdoch, and we have him firing a pistol, [but] there is a little bit of setting the record straight."

Fellowes previously said that his version of Titanic will tell "a very different version" of the ship's sinking.

The four-part series will premiere Sunday (March 25) at 9pm on ITV in the UK. It will be shown on ABC in the US.

Cameron's film will be re-released in 3D on April 6 to mark its 15th anniversary and the centenary of the sinking.

'Geordie Shore' Gaz confesses love for Charlotte: 'We'll get married'

'Geordie Shore' Gaz confesses love for Charlotte: 'We'll get married'

Geordie Shore's Gaz Beadle finally confesses his love for co-star and romantic interest Charlotte Crosby in the final episode of the series tonight.

The pair have repeatedly slept together over the last two seasons, but recently rejected the idea of entering into a committed relationship.

However, Beadle comes clean that he believes the pair do genuinely care for each other deep down and predicts they will even "end up getting married" in the future.

"I love Charlotte and she loves me," he says. "I know she does, I don't care what anyone says. We do love each other.

''To be fair, me and Charlotte will probably end up getting married in 10, 15 years."

Crosby though is unsure whether they will be able to make a romance work, saying: "We're just like them two little simple otters back on that same old log, but nowhere near to building our otter home together... We really are like Romeo and Juliet."

Their Geordie Shore co-star James Tindale recently admitted that he believes Crosby is "getting messed about and hurt" by Beadle and his womanising ways.

Beadle, meanwhile, insisted that he is "not a man slag", despite his number of sexual partners being in the "treble figures".

Geordie Shore airs tonight (March 20) at 10pm on MTV.

'Doctor Who' exec Steven Moffat downplays Benedict Cumberbatch rumours

'Doctor Who' exec Steven Moffat downplays Benedict Cumberbatch rumours

Steven Moffat has discussed the possibility of Benedict Cumberbatch appearing in Doctor Who in the future.

The showrunner, who writes the long-running sci-fi as well as the Cumberbatch-starring Sherlock, downplayed rumours that the actor is in line to star as The Doctor's long-time adversary The Master, but stopped short of saying it would never happen.

Speaking at the Royal Television Society awards, Moffat told Radio Times: "People really do sit in rooms and make that stuff up.

"Look at the filming schedules for Doctor Who and Sherlock - those two shows tend to shoot at the same time. We'd have a problem and there's only so much I can arrange."

However, Moffat went on to tease: "But who knows what could happen in the future."

Current Time Lord star Matt Smith has also dismissed speculation linking Cumberbatch to Doctor Who, saying recently: "I know Ben and I've not heard anything about it. But he's a wonderful actor and a mate."

Cumberbatch is currently shooting the sequel to JJ Abrams's Star Trek, and is due to begin filming on Sherlock's third season in early 2013.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One and BBC America in the autumn.

'Strictly Come Dancing' singer auditions for 'The Voice' UK

'Strictly Come Dancing' singer auditions for 'The Voice' UK

Voice UK hopeful J Marie Cooper appeared on last year's Strictly Come Dancing, it has been revealed.

Cooper is one of the contestants aiming for fame on the new BBC One reality series, which launches this weekend.

However, it won't be the first time that the singer has appeared on BBC One primetime on Saturday nights, as she guested with the Strictly band last year.

Her performance, which included her covering Jessie J's 'Mamma Knows Best' for Holly Valance and Artem Chigvintsev's foxtrot, won huge praise on the Digital Spy forums last year.

One reader on the forums wrote: "Her voice was amazing and 100% pitch perfect for a very difficult song."

Another added: "She's far more than any old belter, just listen to the vocal gymnastics."

The Voice UK launches on Saturday, March 24 at 7pm on BBC One.

Kicking off its first upfront season with President and CEO Wonya Lucas at the helm, TV One today unveiled ambitious plans to double the amount of original content during the 2012-2013 television year. In astar-studded presentation to advertisers at Cipriani, Ms. Lucas said the entertainment network for black adults planned to add 14 new series and specials during the upfront season, including three original sitcoms, two bio doc series that build on the legacy of its award-winning series Unsung, and nine non-fiction entertainment series.

During the presentation, Toni Judkins, TV One's EVP of original programming, outlined some of the new and returning series, including:

New series

Save My Son - is a powerful unscripted series that profiles the struggles of African American families to save their sons who have fallen victim to bad influences and bad choices. With the help of strong black male role models, these families, many of them led by single parents, will attempt to save these sons from leading a life estranged from their families and/orwith heightened chances of their becoming another black male statistic in the criminal justice system. This groundbreaking series will go to communities to rescue young men from a range of dangerous activities. While many troubled youth come from the country'smost challenged urban neighborhoods, not all sons in need of help were reared in traditionally at-risk homes. The series looks to help a diverse group of individuals from different socio-economic groups and backgrounds. Each program features an intervention staged by loved ones, a therapist and the series host, Dr. Steve Perry, renowned educator, author and TV commentator. They work together to design the best possible plan of action to get the young man in crisis back on track. The series is produced for TV One by Powerhouse Productions. Save My Son is slated to premiere in 3rd quarter 2012.

Unresolved: Celebrity Cases - This investigative series delves into controversial and sensational cases involving some of the most prominent entertainment figures of our time. Unresolved: Celebrity Cases seeks to uncover the truth behind headline-making events, such as celebrity homicides like the fatal hotel shooting of Sam Cooke or the murder of once up-and-coming R&B singer LaLa Brown; or unexplained mysteries, like the disappearance of basketball star Brian Williams aka Bison Dele and many more. Each episode introduces the case of a celebrated figure then it takes the audience through the rise of the celebrity's life to an intimate exploration of their publicized tragedy or downfall. Through dramatic recreations surrounding the events, eyewitness accounts, culture experts, family, friends and/or colleagues, a clear picture emerges of the days leading up to the fateful moment and thereafter. Created and produced by K2 Pictures. Slated to premiere in 4th quarter 2012.

The Ladies of R&B -- is an hour long series that follows the current lives of R&B singers Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Keke Wyatt, Monifah Carter and Syleena Johnson. They share their pain, suffering and joy as they work hard and lean on each other to put their lives back together. The series will follow them solo, together and in different combinations as they not only fight to get their lives on track but also to pay their good fortune forward. Divorce, parenting, drugs and alcohol, physical abuse and more - these ladies have survived it all and continue to deal with life's battles each day. It is their personal mission to help other women in need. If women can learn from their mistakes, it was all worth it. They will love each other, fight with each other and celebrate with each other because there is one constant in their lives -- their friendship. This sisterhood cannot be stopped.Produced by ThinkFactory Media. Slated to premiere in 3rd quarter 2012.

Adam Levine Eyeing 'American Horror Story' Role

Adam Levine could be adding "actor on 'American Horror Story'" to his ever-expanding resume soon.

The Maroon 5 frontman and coach on NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice" is in talks to make his acting debut in the upcoming second season of FX's "American Horror Story," an individual with knowledge of the negotiations confirms to TheWrap.

The singer will play one half of a couple called "The Lovers."

Though details on the second season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's FX drama are sparse, Levine will join a cast that includes returning actors Zachary Quinto, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe and Evan Peters.

The actors will be playing different characters than they portrayed on the first season, however; Murphy revealed last year that each season of the series "will feature a different haunting."

Izzard will also produce on the series.

The pilot -- which was initially passed on by the network, then revived by NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt -- will represent a radical departure from the CBS series of yore. Billed as a "radical reinvention" of the original, "Mockingbird Lane" will be "a visually spectacular one-hour drama." Yes, drama.
