VH1 Preps Hourlong Scripted Pilot ‘Bounce’

VH1 Preps Hourlong Scripted Pilot ‘Bounce’

VH1 has greenlighted its first hourlong scripted pilot, Bounce. Newcomer Taylour Paige, Dean Cain and Kimberly Elise will star in the project, set in the world of professional basketball dancers, with Valery Ortiz and Katherine Bailess cast in supporting roles. Written by James LaRosa and be directed by Sanaa Hamri, Bounce follows the lives and loves of a team of professional basketball dancers. At its heart is Ahsha (Paige), a sheltered young woman who joins the squad against the wishes of her mother Sloane (Elise), who knows this treacherous, tempting world all too well having been a dancer herself. Cain will play the coach of the basketball team. Ortiz and Bailess will play two of the dancers, singe mother Raquel and former stripper Kyle.

Bounce is executive produced by Maggie Malina and James LaRosa as well as VH1′s Jill Holmes and Jeff Olde. Bounce follows in the footsteps of VH1′s first hourlong series, the Queen Latifah-produced Single Ladies, which didn’t go through the traditional pilot stage — it originated as a movie. On the half-hour side, VH1′s only effort so far was the Tori Spelling comedy NoTorious. Bailess is with Armada Partners and attorney Chad Christopher.

The Style Network to Premiere New Salon Docu-Series "Chicagolicious" Sunday, June 3

The Style Network to Premiere New Salon Docu-Series "Chicagolicious" Sunday, June 3

The 10-episode series comes from the producers of the network's "Jerseylicious."

The Style Network continues to explore the fascinating subculture of all things glam and beauty in the new docu-series "Chicagolicious" which premieres Sunday, June 3 at 9pm ET/PT. Produced by Endemol USA, the creator and executive producers of Style's #1 hit series "Jerseylicious," this 10-episode series takes viewers to the Windy City to follow AJ Johnson who owns AJ's of Chicago, and whose clientele includes a who's who of actors and models, including Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman. With his staff of hair stylists and makeup artists, AJ looks to expand his business nationally by servicing more elite clientele and solidifying his place in Chicago society. "Chicagolicious" will premiere after "Jerseylicious," which in its fourth season is enjoying its most-watched season to-date among Total Viewers (591,000), more than tripling the network's 1Q12 primetime average, according to Nielsen. For more information, visit www.myStyle.com.

"Jerseylicious has become appointment television for Style's passionate viewers, and with Chicagolicious, we have found an eclectic set of characters, including the beautiful city of Chicago, to deliver a new twist and expand our top performing franchise series," said Salaam Coleman Smith, President, The Style Network.

A multi-platform campaign will kick-off online and on demand in the weeks leading up to the June 3 cable premiere, providing original content and opportunities to get to know the cast. Launching later this month, the "Chicagolicious" show page on myStyle.com will introduce viewers to the unique team of stylists and feature weekly blogs from the cast, episode recaps and exclusive photos and video. In addition, the "How to be 'Chicagolicious" micro-series will offer fans makeup, hair and fashion tips, including how to create the most dramatic eye, maintain your weave and match your hair to your outfit. New episodes of "Chicagolicious" will be made available On Demand and for purchase on iTunes the day following the Sunday night premiere (June 3).

AJ's of Chicago is one of the go-to beauty salons in the Second City with an eccentric staff and exclusive clientele. Charismatic salon owner AJ oversees his team of talented yet fiery hair and makeup artists who love to create drama, from the looks they give their clients, to the manner in which they deal with each other. Throughout the season, AJ and his staff of super stylists will create amazing looks for red carpet and fashion runway events and face off against rivals while catapulting AJ's of Chicago to national success.

Meet the cast of "Chicagolicious:"

AJ JOHNSON

Salon entrepreneur AJ Johnson opened his business 14 years ago, and AJ's of Chicago has become a legendary force in the Chicago beauty scene. Boasting an impressive client list, AJ is on a mission to expand his business on a national level. From launching a new product system, to styling for star-studded celebrity events, to landing a job as a regular style contributor on a local news show, AJ will not stop until he is the "go-to" style and beauty expert in the country. The staff was handpicked by AJ himself, both for their skill and for their unique personalities, and they all share his unwavering desire for financial and artistic success. They are a dysfunctional but very talented crew, and AJ is fiercely loyal to them as he wants his team to succeed right along with him.

KATRELL

A former model, Katrell is new to AJ's and struggles to fit in at the salon. She constantly bumps heads with hair stylist Valincia who, as a former model herself, views Katrell as competition. Focused on her career, Katrell is an overachiever and is looking for new ways to expand the makeup division so that it will be a thriving success. Personally, Katrell needs to finally end ties with her ex-boyfriend, whom she still lives with, and prove to herself that she is a strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man to feel secure in life.

MACRAY

Raised in a small town in Virginia and having lived recently in a bigger small town in North Carolina, MaCray is a fish-out-of-water in the big city of Chicago. Determined to be one of the leaders at the salon, MaCray looks to prove to everyone that he is more than capable to take on the responsibility. The first step to making his dream a reality is for AJ to give MaCray the recognition due him for his work at the salon - not only for his expertise with extensions but also as a full stylist.

AUSTIN

As the youngest and least experienced girl at the salon, Austin is constantly trying to prove her skills as a makeup artist. AJ sees the potential in Austin and takes her under his wing, looking to smooth out her rough edges to bring out her star qualities. During the difficult times, she learns to lean on her professional mentor Katrell and best buddy MaCray. Above all else, Austin's number one goal is to find love, and the whole salon is ready to help. She has had a string of "bad boy" relationships that have distracted her from her goals in the past. Now she feels she's on the right track professionally, and she really wants to find the right guy to share her life with.

VALINCIA

Valincia has been at AJ's longer than any other stylist and believes that she deserves special treatment - always. Once the salon darling, she clashes with new makeup artist Katrell who seems to be taking her spotlight. While she may frustrate salon management with her outrageous opinions and diva-like behavior, Valincia is a master stylist who creates great hair, and she brings in way too much business to even think about getting rid of her.

NIKI

As AJ chases success, his best friend and roommate Niki continues to support AJ's dreams but also uses her spiritual outlook on life to keep AJ grounded. Niki recently returned to her hometown of Chicago after living in New York and is looking to re-establish herself in Chicago. With her new age rituals and beliefs, Niki sometimes clashes with the stylists at the salon, especially Q who is motivated by money. Steadfast and true, Niki encourages AJ and everyone else to be honest and real with themselves. As the salon manager, she quickly becomes a sounding board for each person at the salon and is a mentor to the younger stylists.

Q

Q is AJ's cousin, and as the salon's Director of Marketing and Sales, her primary focus as the "Money Honey" is to make money. She fully supports AJ's hunger for fame and success which causes her to clash with Niki, and she is always dreaming up bigger and better ways to make AJ's a success. On the personal front, Q is forced to make a decision about her marriage of 12 years as her husband continually feels that she puts AJ and her job above family. When both worlds collide, Q must choose between her personal and professional lives and examine what she really values in life.

HOWARD

Howard is the head barber at the salon and worries that AJ doesn't put enough time and money into promoting this full-service specialty. Frustrated, he decides to raise the profile of the barbering services on his own. Outside the salon, the fitness-conscious Howard offers to help MaCray lose weight while his focus on dating and romancing women also plays a major factor in his life. However, when his philandering gets him in trouble at the salon, his job could be on the line.

JULIE

A client of AJ's, Julie is a publicist who specializes in the lifestyle and luxury market. She is using her expertise to help AJ make the transition from a local salon owner to a national business mogul. A former television and commercial print model, Julie was able to successfully transition to promoting high-end events, business and products. One of the things that AJ loves about Julie is how she is a fixture at Chicago society events and charity galas, which has allowed AJ access to this elite social circle.

JENNIFER

While finishing her college degree in Arts Entertainment Media Management, Jennifer works with Julie as her junior associate. She is excited for the opportunity to learn more about public relations and marketing in a fast-paced environment. One of her favorite clients is AJs of Chicago, and she takes pride in her positive professionalism and ability to juggle multiple tasks, various projects and the staff's unique personalities. In addition to her day job, Jennifer fronts a top-40 pop cover band, performing at benefits, festivals, restaurants and bars around the Midwest.

BBC's 24 Olympics HD streams coming to cable, satellite

BBC's 24 Olympics HD streams coming to cable, satellite

The BBC will make 24 HD-quality live streams available to cable and satellite providers for the duration of the Olympics Games, it has been announced.

Viewers will be able to watch every Olympic sport, live from every venue, via electronic programme guide channels or the BBC Red Button on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.

This interactive coverage is the previously confirmed 24 simultaneous streams that will be available live online via the BBC Sport website and on PCs, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs.

The streaming service is also in addition to the flagship coverage on BBC One, BBC Three and Radio 5 Live. An estimated 2,500 hours of live sport will be available on BBC platforms during the games.

BBC London 2012 director Roger Mosey said: "We're delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to cable and satellite providers to extend our online service to millions of TV viewers across the UK.

"BBC One and BBC Three will remain the flagship channels for the Olympics. But, as the London 2012 Olympic Games will be the first truly 'Digital Games', we wanted to offer an unprecedented amount of live sporting action to the widest possible audience through these 24 live streams, giving vastly more choice than ever before."

Virgin Media has already announced that it will offer all the BBC's 24 live streams via its TiVo converged television service, as part of a deal agreed with the corporation in December last year.

Sky has said that it will offer the live streams via the Red Button, but also broadcast them as channels on its EPG from July 24.

The channels are free-to-air and available to any Sky home, including Freesat from Sky customers. The HD versions will be available on any Sky+HD box and not require a subscription, although the viewers will need an HD-ready TV.

Stephen van Rooyen, the managing director of Sky's sales and marketing group, said: "The London Olympics is a huge event in 2012 and one that we are all looking forward to here at Sky.

"We believe that the best way to watch the Olympics is in glorious HD as it offers viewers the best possible viewing experience and, supported by Sky+, the flexibility of watching the action at a time that suits our customers.

"We're delighted that every single Sky home will have the opportunity to enjoy unprecedented coverage of the biggest UK sporting event in a generation."

Freesat will carry all of the BBC's 24 live HD Olympic channels throughout London 2012, both as live channels and streams via the BBC Red Button.

Homes with Freesat will be able to see the 24 BBC Olympics channels in standard or high definition depending on their receiver equipment.

Freesat managing director Emma Scott said: "We're totally delighted to be able to offer Freesat viewers these great BBC HD services. It is going to be an amazing summer of sport and the London 2012 Olympics in HD will truly be a sight to behold.

"This is the latest great example of the quality and choice in TV programmes available to Freesat customers, all subscription-free."

David Tennant, Janet Montgomery cast in 'The Spies of Warsaw'

David Tennant, Janet Montgomery cast in 'The Spies of Warsaw'

David Tennant and Janet Montgomery have been cast in an adaptation of The Spies of Warsaw.

The Doctor Who and Human Target stars will appear in two 90-minute instalments of Alan Furst's novel to air on BBC Four and Poland's TVP.

Tennant is set to portray Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier, a decorated war hero who begins an affair with Montgomery's Parisian lawyer Anna in the run-up to World War Two.

The Spies of Warsaw, which takes place in London, Paris, Berlin and Poland, is penned by The Likely Lads writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

BBC Four controller Richard Klein said: "Spies of Warsaw is Alan Furst at his best - a tense, passionate and sexy love story set against the increasingly strident clang of coming war.

"I think David Tennant playing Mercier and Janet Montgomery as Anna is such an exciting way to explore Furst's hugely convincing central characters, and I am delighted that Ian and Dick have produced such an enthralling script.

"Spies of Warsaw is an entertaining, thrilling and insightful drama with a very different take on the Second World War, seen through the eyes of characters who know from the start that they and their fellow countrymen will face the brunt of the horrors to come: this is top class drama, and perfect for BBC Four."

Richard Fell, head of drama at Fresh Pictures - who are producing with Apple Film - added: "We are thrilled and delighted that David and Janet are going to be in Spies of Warsaw. They are both actors of such great range and quality they will light up the screen as the star-crossed lovers.

"As Europe is dragged into the nightmare that will be the Second World War, their illicit love affair gets ever more complicated, and the chemistry between these two extraordinary actors becomes irresistible."

Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Poland.

'Got Talent' The Mend: 'We would spend prize money on debts'

'Got Talent' The Mend: 'We would spend prize money on debts'

Britain's Got Talent boyband The Mend have admitted that they would spend the show's prize money on their mounting debts.

The four-piece - Jayme Kontzle, Craig Worsley, Dean Kelly, Kris Evans - appeared on Saturday's audition show performing 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay' and have become one of the most popular acts so far this series.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the possibility of winning the £500,000 grand prize, the group said: "The first thing we'll do with the money is pay off our debts. We're on hardly any income right now. We've borrowed and borrowed.

"You end up borrowing to borrow and borrowing to pay off what you borrowed. And the next thing you know, you owe half the world some money. It would be great to pay everyone off."

They added: "We'd love to invest in our own studio as well and invest in the community, helping other people get into music. It sounds corny, but music can save lives. It's a massive, massive part of our lives as well. We might buy a Ford Mustang as well.

"We haven't really thought about the money too much, but everyone else keeps mentioning it. If we do win, we'll have a bloody good night out."

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturdays at 8pm on ITV1.

Bravo Media Acquires TV Rights to Air Feature Documentary "The Queen of Versailles" in 2013

Bravo Media Acquires TV Rights to Air Feature Documentary "The Queen of Versailles" in 2013

"The Queen of Versailles" filmed over three years, intimately captures the innate virtues and flaws of the American dream as an abundantly wealthy family's fortunes turn.

Bravo Media acquired the TV rights for the critically lauded Sundance documentary, "The Queen of Versailles," directed by acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Lauren Greenfield - who won Best Director at Sundance 2012 for this documentary. "The Queen of Versailles" filmed over three years, intimately captures the innate virtues and flaws of the American dream as an abundantly wealthy family's fortunes turn. The documentary will premiere in 2013 on Bravo. For more information, visit www.BravoTV.com and follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/BravoPR.

"'The Queen of Versailles' struck an immediate chord for us, depicting in intense and compelling detail, the impact of the recession through the experience of one very affluent family," said Frances Berwick, President of Bravo Media and Style. "It's gripping, verit filmmaking at its finest and the perfect film to kick off Bravo's new thought and talk-provoking documentary strand for our highly educated audience."

"The Queen of Versailles" is an insightful and entertaining documentary about billionaires Jackie and David Siegel, who are constructing the largest house in America - a 90,000 square foot dream home modeled after the palace of Versailles. As a result of the financial crisis, their extravagant plans are put on hold. David's time-share business runs into difficulties, and the filmmaker captures the Siegel's turn of fortune. While delivering big laughs, "The Queen of Versailles" also manages to be a moving, clear-eyed snapshot of a unique and sobering moment in our history, as we are forced to reevaluate the sustainability of the American dream.

"I am pleased to be working with Bravo to present 'The Queen of Versailles' to a mass TV audience" said Greenfield. "It is rare that Bravo acquires a feature-length documentary, but this seems like a perfect match and there could not be a more interesting audience for this film."

Acclaimed documentary photographer/filmmaker, Greenfield is considered a preeminent chronicler of youth culture, gender and consumerism, as a result of her monographs "Girl Culture," "Fast Forward," "THIN" and other photographic works, which have been widely published, exhibited, and collected by leading museums around the world. Her latest feature-length documentary film, "The Queen of Versailles" was selected as the Opening Night film of Sundance 2012 where it garnered critical acclaim and won the Best Director Award in the U.S. Documentary Competition. In addition to "The Queen of Versailles," Lauren has previously directed three award-winning documentary films - "THIN," "kids + money," and "Beauty CULTure." Her work was recently showcased in the Getty Museum's historical exhibition, "Engaged Observers: Documentary Photography Since the Sixties" (2010).

Letterman, Ferguson Re-Up With CBS Through 2014

Letterman, Ferguson Re-Up With CBS Through 2014

CBS late-night hosts David Letterman and Craig Fergsuson have re-upped their contracts with CBS through 2014.

As part of this new deal, Ferguson's "Late Late Show" will move to a larger stage at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, and CBS will co-produce the series with Worldwide Pants, Inc., which also produces Letterman's "Late Show."

Letterman, who recently surpassed mentor Johnny Carson as the longest-running late night host, debuted "The Late Show" on CBS on Aug. 30, 1993. The former host of NBC's "Late Night" recently celebrated his 30 year on the air.

The deal continues CBS's late night stability two years after NBC's late night reshuffling, which led to Letterman rival Jay Leno reclaiming "The Tonight Show" and Conan O'Brien to TBS.

"David Letterman is a late night legend with an iconic show and Craig Ferguson continues to evolve the genre in exciting and innovative ways,” said Nina Tassler, CBS' president of entertainment. “These new agreements deliver ongoing high-quality entertainment for our audience and continued strength and stability for CBS in late night.”

"The Late Show" has won nine Emmy Awards, including six for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Program. Ferguson's show won a Peabody Award in 2009.

'Sherlock' executive Mark Gatiss: 'Pilot episode was not a disaster'

'Sherlock' executive Mark Gatiss: 'Pilot episode was not a disaster'

Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss has hit back at speculation that the show's unaired pilot was deemed a "disaster".

Gatiss explained that the hour-long episode was only scrapped because the BBC chose to go with a 90-minute runtime.

Speaking on BBC Four series Mark Lawson Talks To, Gatiss said that he and Steven Moffat chose to put the original recording on Sherlock's series one DVD to end the potentially damaging rumours.

"The pilot is very good," he said. "We would have been very happy [to air it]... We knew we couldn't just bolt on another half hour, so Steve rewrote it and we remade it with a different director.

"Because of an internal decision to make it in another format, this gossip got out. I remember thinking, 'If we don't show people that it wasn't a disaster, this will live with us forever'.

"The argument is that you preserve the final version, sacrosanct, but I thought that was an insult to the original director and the production. The second one is more stylish, but it's a different beast."

Mark Lawson Talks To Mark Gatiss airs on BBC Four tonight (April 3) at 10.50pm.

Davina McCall, Nicky Campbell for 'Long Lost Family' series two

Davina McCall has announced that she will return for a second series of Long Lost Family.

The presenter will reteam with Nicky Campbell for the ITV programme, which reunites relatives after vast amounts of time apart.

"If you thought series one was emotional, you've not seen anything yet," she pledged. ''The stories we've unearthed this time round will tug at your heart-strings like never before. Get ready to start stockpiling those tissues."

The first episode of Long Lost Family will focus on ex-professional rugby player Mark Appleson searching for his birth mother and a 71-year-old hoping to meet her daughter after half a century.

Speaking about his recruitment to the format in 2010, Campbell declared: "'I've never been so excited about a show in my career. I have a deep emotional connection with it, being an adopted person and having traced my own birth families."

Long Lost Family airs Thursday, April 12 at 9pm on ITV1.

Big Brother to stay on Channel 5 for two more years

Big Brother to stay on Channel 5 for two more years

Big Brother producers Endemol UK and Channel 5 have signed a deal to keep the show on air until at least 2014.

The broadcaster, who relaunched the show in 2011, has picked up some of its highest ever ratings with the celebrity edition of the reality TV series.

Channel 4 dropped the format in 2010, after hosting the programme for a decade and making stars out of contestants such as Jade Goody, Craig Phillips and Brian Dowling.

Since moving to Channel 5, the show has helped the broadcaster regularly beat its rivals in the ratings.

Celebrity Big Brother has averaged over three million viewers during its two runs, while the classic series last autumn picked up over 1.7 million viewers on a regular basis.

Frankie Cocozza, Denise Welch, Paddy Doherty and Jedward have been among the stars who have entered the famous compound, since its switch of broadcasters.

Channel 5 announced last month that it had already negotiated a deal with Endemol to broadcast an extra celebrity edition of the show in the autumn as part of its original two-year deal.

Brian Dowling, Emma Willis and voiceover legend Marcus Bentley are all signed up to continue hosting the main programme and spinoff series Bit On the Side.

"We're hugely excited to have secured the return of Big Brother for Channel 5 which will continue to form a key part our programming schedule," said Jeff Ford.

"The show so far has captivated the energy and vibrancy of the channel and we are looking forward to continuing this successful relationship."

Nick Samwell-Smith added: "We are delighted with the success of Big Brother on Channel 5. The show continues to thrive and I'm thrilled to be renewing our partnership with the channel for another two years."

Channel 5's head of factual entertainment Steve Gowans will oversee the new series of Big Brother, which will continue to be filmed at Elstree Film Studios.

Ratings: CBS Wins With NCAA; 'Dancing With the Stars' Down

The NCAA basketball championship ratings inched up from last year's to give CBS a win for the night in the key demographic, according to preliminary numbers. ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" dropped 13 percent to match its low for a performance show, but ABC still had the most viewers for the night overall.

CBS was far and away the best-rated network of the night with an average 5.1 rating/13 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo, but took second place in total viewers, averaging 14.6 million. Following repeats of "2 Broke Girls" and "Two and a Half Men," the network aired the special "Prelude to a Championship" at 9, which posted a 4.4/11 in the demo and 13.2 million total viewers. The game between Kentucky and Kansas at 9:30 grew a modest 4 percent in the demo from last year's championship game, taking a 7.0/17. It had 19.3 million total viewers, and was the  top-rated and most-watched program of the night.

NBC took second place in ratings and third place in total viewers with an average 3.4/9 in the demo and 9.1 million. The return of "Bones" at 8 was up slightly in the demo from its last original airing in January, drawing a 2.5/7 with 8.2 million total viewers. Ratings: 'Game of Thrones' Season Premiere Slays Series Premiere

"Game of Thrones" season two got off to a bloody good start in more ways than one.

Sunday night's second-season premiere of HBO's swords-and-dragons epic fantasy series easily trounced the impressive viewership of the show's series premiere last year, and handily bested last season's average and finale viewership.

Over three airings Sunday night, "Game of Thrones" amassed 6.3 million total viewers, with the 9 p.m. premiere airing alone drawing 3.9 million viewers.

Sunday's premiere airing boasted a 74 percent improvement over the series premiere, and a 53 percent jump over the first season average. Sunday's "Thrones" also jumped 27 percent over last season's finale, which grabbed 3 million viewers with its initial airing.

Smithsonian Channel Premieres "Space Shuttle: The Final Countdown" on April 22

Smithsonian Channel Premieres "Space Shuttle: The Final Countdown" on April 22

The two-hour special coincides with Space Shuttle Discovery's April 19 arrival at National Air & Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

For 30 years, it was America's flagship in space, flying more miles, completing more missions, and delivering more hardware than any other spacecraft in history. Now, as the Space Shuttle enters America's pantheon of air and space achievement, Smithsonian Channel marks the end of an era with the premiere of SPACE SHUTTLE: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN on Sunday, April 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Through interviews with NASA scientists, administrators, astronauts and Smithsonian Institution historians, SPACE SHUTTLE: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, tells the definitive story of the Shuttle era: its incredible achievements, its devastating tragedies - and the dream to make space travel affordable and routine.

The special is premiering just days after the Space Shuttle Discovery, the most accomplished vehicle in the fleet, is scheduled to make its much anticipated journey from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, where it will go on permanent display. The Smithsonian is planning a four-day celebration for its arrival.

When Space Shuttle Atlantis touched down at the Kennedy Space Center on July 21, 2011, it was the program's 135th and final mission. And while the Shuttle program's tragedies - Challenger in 1986 and Columbia in 2003 - left indelible scars in the national memory, its achievements are less known and deserve recognition. Without the Space Shuttle there would be no Hubble Telescope, which transformed our understanding of the universe. With its enormous cargo bay, the Shuttle became a workhorse for transporting satellites and scientific equipment to space, enabling the construction of the International Space Station. It was also a powerful symbol of international collaboration.

The Shuttle itself, a re-usable spacecraft capable of bursting through the atmosphere and returning safely to Earth, was an extraordinary technical achievement.

'DWTS's Kerri-Anne Kennerley: 'Dancing is as tough as algebra'

'DWTS's Kerri-Anne Kennerley: 'Dancing is as tough as algebra'

Dancing with the Stars' Kerri-Anne Kennerley has revealed that she is struggling with the choreography during rehearsals for the show.

The former breakfast television host, who is partnered with professional dancer Carmelo Pizzino on the Australian reality show, said that he is very patient with her when she finds certain moves difficult.

Kennerley told the Herald Sun: "He is wonderful, an excellent dancer and has the patience of Job. But, at the end of the day, I've realised that three hours a day [rehearsing] is never going to be enough; I'm going to need to do four, five, six.

"I went home and said, 'What am I doing? It's never going to happen! It's like me doing algebra, it's not possible'. And he's said, 'Don't be ridiculous, everybody must be the same', and ignored me and carried on."

Kennerley said that after her second day of training, she started "dreaming that [she] was like some old racehorse about to be shot", adding: "I was awake all night going, 'I can't possibly do it'."

However, she did admit that things have improved since then, saying: "On Friday, we put a few steps together and for the first time I had a glimpse of, 'Oh my God, I think I just danced for four seconds'. Perhaps it will all come together. I am going to have to use every little bit of focus that I have."

Dancing with the Stars is due to start later this spring on the Seven Network.

'Prisoner Cell Block H' remake 'will be provocative'

'Prisoner Cell Block H' remake 'will be provocative'

The upcoming remake of Prisoner has been described as "provocative" television.

It was announced last month that a "reimagining" of the cult Australian soap, known as Prisoner Cell Block H in the UK and US, will air on Foxtel under the name Wentworth.

The project was previously slated to be produced for Channel 10, though Foxtel director of television Brian Walsh insisted that the show would be better off on his network.

"I think it's time to take a look at Prisoner and do a 2012 reimagining of the show," he told Encore. "It's going to be provocative in a way that it could never be on Channel Ten but certainly can on subscription television."

Wentworth is scheduled to begin filming later this year in Melbourne.

The original Prisoner ran for almost 700 episodes between 1979 and 1986. Series protagonist Val Lehman has said that she is hoping for a role in the new version.

Brian McFadden: 'My fiancée will be bitchy on Dancing with the Stars'

Brian McFadden: 'My fiancée will be bitchy on Dancing with the Stars'

Brian McFadden has predicted that his fiancée Vogue Williams will be bitchy when she takes part in Dancing with the Stars.

The 25-year-old model and DJ, who is participating in the reality TV series alongside stars such as Kerri-Anne Kennerley and former Neighbours actress Erin McNaught, admitted that she wants to win the show.

When asked if she has been 'trash-talking' her rivals, Williams told National Features: "Not yet, but I'll let you know." McFadden added: "As soon as the live shows start, it'll be on... 'This one's a bitch, that one's a...'"

Williams countered: "Shut up, you're making me sound like a bitch. But seriously, I don't think there's anybody in this who's not trying to win the show. Otherwise, why would you bother?"

When she was asked if she is competitive, Australia's Got Talent judge McFadden said to Williams: "You're the most competitive person I've ever met. She's already been scanning Twitter going, 'Erin is doing five hours [training], Kerri-Anne's doing six'. Then she's ringing her partner screaming, 'We've gotta do more hours'."

He added: "I think it's great, I'm delighted for her. It's a great opportunity for people of Australia to get to know her, instead of just in magazines. She's got a great personality and this is going to be a great challenge."

Williams said: "I'm just going to be myself and hope that people like me. I don't really feel the pressure."

Dancing with the Stars premieres on Sunday, April 15 at 6.30pm on the Seven Network.

'Community' Creator Apologizes for Making Chevy Chase Tirade Public

'Community' Creator Apologizes for Making Chevy Chase Tirade Public

"Community" creator Dan Harmon has apologized for releasing a nasty voicemail from series star Chevy Chase, saying that he was a "bonehead" for sharing the message with the public.

In a Tumblr post, Harmon added that his decision to play the message for a crowd was "childish, self-obsessed, unaware, naive and unprofessional."

Not that his apology was directed at Chase, mind you.

"I have to just acknowledge my mistake and apologize for it to the fans," Harmon said in the long-winded online mea culpa. "Even the people that hate the show that are tweeting heckles at me are right, I’m a selfish baby and a rude asshole and not a person to trust with your feelings."

Also read: "Community"'s Dan Harmon: "Women Writers Give Deeper Laughs" (or: Why Women Aren't Funny Part II)

Harmon said that he had played the message during "a monthly show I do in the back of a comic book store in Los Angeles in which I say things that I intend for 150 people to hear. I tell stories about what an unlovable asshole I am and the trouble it causes for me."

However, after playing the message during the show, it was disseminated over the internet, leading to no small amount of headlines documenting the feud.

Harmon added, "I’m not going to say any more" about the incident.

According to TMZ, Harmon told the crowd that Chase's voicemail rant was the result of an argument that the actor and Harmon had about a scene during the taping of the "Community" season finale. Chase didn't want to do the scene, but Harmon held firm, causing Chase to leave the set.

Harmon also suggested that Chase might have left the message after knocking back " what I'm guessing is two bottles of Beaujolais."

In the message, Chase calls Harmon a "fat [bleep]" and tells him, "your writing is getting worse and worse, so suck my [bleep]."

"If you were here right now, I'd [bleep]ing kick your teeth out," Chase concludes. "You're not funny ... you're OK."

According to Harmon, Chase sent a text message apologizing for the outburst, but Harmon rebuffed him, saying, "You breached your contract, you're an asshole."

Can Oprah Winfrey, Katie Couric and Sarah Palin Change the Morning News Race? Nope

Can Oprah Winfrey, Katie Couric and Sarah Palin Change the Morning News Race? Nope

The morning show landscape isn't going to fundamentally change this week.

Not even with Sarah Palin co-hosting "Today" at NBC, her "lamestream media" nemesis, Katie Couric, guest-anchoring ABC's "Good Morning America," and Oprah Winfrey confiding in her best friend, on "CBS This Morning," that she never imagined how hard it would be to launch her OWN network.

This week's slurry of guests and guest hosts -- which one CBS executive calls a "shower of crazy" -- won't have a long-term impact, because that's not how morning show ratings work. Judging from Monday's ratings, the guests haven't even made much of a short-term impact so far: Ratings for the two top morning shows were down.

The week arrives at a crucial time for all three networks' morning lineups. NBC is trying to hold on to Matt Lauer after losing Couric in 2006 and Meredith Vieira last year -- and has flirted with adding Ryan Seacrest to the mix. The network has long held first place in the mornings, despite being the fourth-place network overall.

CBS, the most watched network overall, has long been a distant third in the ratings. It has slipped since relaunching its morning show this year with Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill, and is building a new show.

Only ABC is gaining in morning ratings and viewers. It is in second place in the morning race and third place overall.

A single guest almost never changes a ratings trend. A rare exception may be Hugh Grant, whose appearance on "The Tonight Show" after his prostitution arrest in 1995 helped Jay Leno start a long run of beating David Letterman.

But that kind of magic doesn't happen often. And almost no one expects it early in the day.

Why? Because morning show allegiances change as slowly and groggily as all morning routines. Ever try to take up jogging in the morning? People change their morning shows about as easily as they take up jogging.

The hosts of a morning show do more to set the tone of a show than individual guests -- and tone is especially crucial early in the day. That's why the affable Lauer is so crucial to "Today" and why, fairly or not, CBS has reshuffled its morning team twice since November 2010.

But most viewers won't change their morning routine for a week of Couric. Or a day of Palin or Winfrey. Or because of Meredith Vieira returning to "Today" on the same Monday that "Good Morning America" welcomed not only Couric, but former President Clinton.

(Yes: This is a week so packed with guest appearances that Bill Clinton doesn't merit a mention until now.)

Winfrey may have provided a boost to CBS Monday, but it's hard to say. CBS's ratings appeared -- preliminarily -- to be slightly up. No CBS national numbers were available Tuesday, because CBS, unlike its rivals, didn't hungrily order the earliest-possible Nielsen data. Internal CBS numbers and data from specific markets, however, seemed to point to an uptick.

This season overall, "Today" averages 5.4 million total viewers, down 1 percent from this time last season. "CBS" averages 2.5 million, down 10 percent. "GMA" averages 4.7 million -- up 5 percent.

"GMA" is growing faster among viewers the 25 to 54, the demo most important to news advertisers. It is up 14 percent, while CBS is flat and "Today" is down 5 percent.

ABC may have secretly hoped that adding Couric -- the former "Today" host and soon-to-be host of her own daytime talk show -- would draw people who used to watch her with Lauer on "Today." You couldn't blame the network for hoping that perhaps those viewers would even stick around after Couric left.

Monday's ratings suggested that the first part of that wish hasn't come true yet. "Today" won, as it usually does, by half a million total viewers. But ABC sounded nonplussed about it Tuesday -- perhaps because "GMA" has been steadily narrowing its ratings gap with "Today."

"In many ways it was a typical Monday," ABC spokeswoman Julie Townsend told TheWrap. "'Today' winning is kind of a dog-bites-man story."

She added that ABC has "momentum that's been building for months," adding, "we know this is a marathon."

Asked if he believed special guest appearances could juice a morning show's ratings, "CBS This Morning" executive producer Chris Licht offered this general response: "I would say, 'Do not underestimate the sophistication of the audience.'"

Every network asserts that it cares more about a quality news broadcast in the morning then it does about ratings. Licht says he has the words "competitive and relevant" pasted to his desk. If the show can be those two things, he says, ratings will follow.

In keeping with the not-about-ratings line, the networks say this week's onslaught of special appearances is largely happenstance.

Regular "GMA" anchor Robin Roberts was scheduled to take vacation this week, and in Couric, Townsend said, ABC just "happened to have someone who's exceptionally good at morning television" to take her place.

King, meanwhile, had arranged for best friend Winfrey to appear on "CBS This Morning" a month ago, Licht said.

It's hard to imagine that NBC didn't bring in Couric's replacement, Vieira, and the subject of one of her toughest interviews, Palin, as direct counters to her week on "GMA." But NBC did not respond to an interview request.

If the network loses its place at the top of the morning, it will be because of a continuing trend, not a few bookings.
