Neighbours adding non-white family to its perfect blend

Neighbours adding non-white family to its perfect blend

Neighbours continues to address criticisms that everyone on Ramsay St is white, announcing plans to introduce a family of Indian and Sri Lankan heritage to the long-running soap.

The Kapoors consist of dad and Erinsborough councillor Ajay (Sachin Joab), who's been a regular on the soap since mid-2011, and mum Priya (Menik Gooneratne), who became Erinsborough High's "no-nonsense" principal in September.

They'll be joined by their daughter Rani (newcomer Coco-Jacinta Cherin), who'll be introduced to the rest of the Neighbours gang in February.

"I'm delighted by how the Kapoors have been introduced," said Neighbours boss Susan Bower, who will soon exit the series. "Viewers already know them because of their role in the community and link with other characters, and their cultural background is secondary.

"We have had many individual characters who have been representative of Australia's diverse cultural landscape, however to have a family of Indian and Sri Lankan heritage join the neighbourhood is very exciting."

Neighbours and fellow Aussie soap Home and Away have long been (rightly) criticised for their lack of ethnic diversity — particularly in 2008, when a British report blasted the shows for being "too white".

Aside from Jade — played by actress Gemma Pranita, who was born in Thailand to a Thai dad and an English mum and later relocated to Australia — the current Neighbours line-up is very Eurocentric. Hopefully the addition of the Kapoors will go some way to evening out the ethnic balance on the show.

Details: Lisa McCune's new TV show Reef Doctors

Details: Lisa McCune's new TV show Reef Doctors

Network Ten has announced that multiple-Gold Logie-winner Lisa McCune will lead the cast of its upcoming drama Reef Doctors, about — you guessed it — doctors who work on a coral reef.

The 13-episode hour-long drama is set on the Great Barrier Reef and revolves around Sam, a spirited GP and single mum who runs the Hope Island Clinic. The team of medics working out of the clinic look after the island's residents, holidaymakers and visiting thrill-seekers, and capture all the nasties that live in the reef to harvest their venom.

Production on Reef Doctors commences in Far North Queensland in early December.

Lisa will be very accustomed to shooting in the Queensland heat: she was based in Cairns for five years while she filmed Sea Patrol, which wrapped up earlier this year.

Her co-stars in Reef Doctors include Matt Day (Rake and Tangle) and Richard Brancatisano (Underbelly: Razor).

Make it stop: up to four more Kardashian TV shows in the pipeline

Make it stop: up to four more Kardashian TV shows in the pipeline

E! should just go and change its name to K!: the pay TV network's US boss has threatened to produce up to four more TV series about the Kardashian family.

The broadcaster's schedule is already dominated by Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its spin-offs Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Khloe & Lamar — all about the vapid adventures of various Kardashian family members — but there's apparently still plenty of material.

E! boss Bonnie Hammer told the Hollywood Reporter she hopes there are "two, three, even four new Kardashian [spinoffs]," which might revolve around the Kardashian sisters' mother Kris Jenner and her two other daughters Kendall and Kylie, who technically aren't Kardashians.

(Kardashian brother Kob — er, Rob is also an aspiring TV star. He recently appeared on the US Dancing with the Stars.)

If you think your TV can't handle any more Kardashians, Hammer said she thinks the franchise "will have its own life expectancy". Translation: E! will keeping pumping out TV shows about the family till they run them into the ground.

Hammer also added that Kim's recent marriage and quickie divorce was not a stunt.

The Voice Australia: The Latest News

The Voice Australia: The Latest News

On 29 May 2011, it was announced in the The Daily Telegraph that the Nine Network would broadcast The Voice in late 2011.

However, two months later, they reported that the show will now air in early 2012, and that the Nine Network are in talks with signing at least one international artist (especially an American) to lead its panel of coaches on the show, which were rumoured to be Christina Aguilera, George Michael, Usher, Pink and Gwen Stefani.

On 17 September 2011, Herald Sun reported that the Nine Network are planning to sign Australia's Got Talent judge Dannii Minogue as one of the coaches on the show.

But in November 2011 Keith Urban, Delta Goodrem, Seal and Joel Madden have been confirmed as the four coaches on the show.

Tina Arena returning to Young Talent Time

Tina Arena returning to Young Talent Time

There'll be an extra hit of nostalgia when Young Talent Time returns to TV in 2012: Network Ten has announced that Tina Arena is coming back to the talent quest.

Tina joined the original YTT in the late '70s when she was just seven, making a name for herself as one of the show's best pint-sized performers. She'll act as a judge and mentor to the contestants in the resurrected version.

"I am really excited to be coming back and being involved in the re-launch of Young Talent Time," said Tina in a statement. "It is the 'original' TV talent show format — it's unique and iconic but it's also typically Australian".

Ten programming boss David Mott gushed that Tina is "a born entertainer who is passionate about fostering young talent" who's "inspired and entertained generations of fans".

Like its predecessor, the new Young Talent Time will blend a talent quest with performances by a core team of singers. Tina will join host Rob Mills (formerly of Australian Idol) and another yet-to-be-announced judge

Lindsay Lohan joining Celebrity Big Brother?

Lindsay Lohan joining Celebrity Big Brother?

As reported earlier, the latest Lindsay Lohan rumour claims she's destined for Britain's Celebrity Big Brother house — because there's no better place for a washed-up trainwreck than Celebrity Big Brother, and there's no one more washed-up and trainwreck-y than LiLo.

According to the Daily Mail, the reality show's producers have already flown to Los Angeles to talk with the 25-year-old actress — though there's concerns that her never-ending legal woes might prevent her from leaving the US to star in the show.

"Lindsay would be an absolutely amazing signing for us," an unnamed source from the show reportedly told the Mail. "She's a fiery character too, so there are sure to be a some major clashes with other celebrities if we get her in the house.'

Of course, given that the source on this one is the ever-unreliable Daily Mail, the whole thing might just be a big fat load. On the other hand, fellow Hollywood trashbag Tara Reid starred in the last season of Celebrity Big Brother, so anything's possible...

Renovation show The Block to return in 2012, call for contestants

Renovation show The Block to return in 2012, call for contestants

CHANNEL 9 is set to commission another series of The Block.

Nine has called for contestants for the 2012 season of the hit renovation show.

The network's decision to screen The Block five nights a week this year has been a ratings winner.

Last count the show averaged a whopping 1.544 million viewers nationally.

Next year’s version of The Block will again be set in Melbourne.

It is believed that the producers have purchased four properties in South Melbourne.

Internet trashbag Courtney Stodden turns down reality TV show

Internet trashbag Courtney Stodden turns down reality TV show

Courtney Stodden's was made for reality TV: she shot to fame after she married a 51-year-old actor when she was just 16, and her hair, boobs and ridiculous pout make her look less like a teenager and more like a third-hand sex doll that some pervert magically brought to life.

This is why it's such a shock to learn that she and her middle-aged husband Doug Hutchison have turned down to opportunity to star in a reality TV show!

Radar reports that Courtney and Doug were offered spots in Relationship Rehab, a new show from the producer of Celebrity Rehab that will "follows [eight] couples living together in a Los Angeles home who would get counselling by world renowned therapists and participate in therapeutic activities and planned events".

A source blabbed that the Stodden-Hutchisons didn't feel Relationship Rehab was a "perfect fit" for them because they "have an incredibly strong relationship and seem very happy together", and don't need any on-camera rehab.

The real reason Courtney and Doug — Cug? Dourtney? — turned down Relationship Rehab is probably because it would have meant sharing the limelight with other couples. And, let's be honest: those two need a show all to themselves.

Frankie Cocozza signs up for CBB

Frankie Cocozza signs up for CBB

Frankie Cocozza has signed up for 'Celebrity Big Brother'.

The shamed former 'X Factor' contestant - who was booted off the show for a serious breach of rules - has reportedly agreed a £30,000 deal to appear on the next series of the fly-on-the-wall show after promising to continue with his outrageous antics and womanising ways.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He's not exactly a Hollywood star nut everyone knows who he is and he's bound to cause some mayhem in the house.

"If nothing else, he'll be good value."

While the line-up for the show - which returns to Channel 5 in early January - has not yet been confirmed, several stars have been linked with an appearance, including troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan, footballer Ryan Giggs' sister-in-law Natasha Giggs and comedian Freddie Starr.

Speaking about Freddie, who was forced to quit 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' on medical grounds last month, a source said recently: "The jungle may have been deemed too tough for Freddie but anyone can sit in a house for a couple of weeks.

"Celebrity Big Brother would be right up his street as it wouldn't put massive pressure on his health.

"And it would give him the perfect platform to entertain the nation.

"We believe he would be perfect for the show. He's not afraid to say what he thinks and during his trial he showed that he's a real game player.

Chelsee Healey hopes to win Strictly for dad

Chelsee Healey hopes to win Strictly for dad

Chelsee Healey is hoping to win 'Strictly Come Dancing' for her late father.

The 'Waterloo Road' actress - who scored the first 40 out of 40 of this year's series for her sultry paso doble on last night's (10.12.11) show - is hoping to dedicate her 'Strictly' crown to her dad, who tragically passed away when she was just five years old.

She said: "Dad's death makes me much more ¬determined to succeed. I think, 'I wonder if he'd be proud of me'.

"It drives me on. I've still got ¬pictures of him round the house and I always wonder what he'd be like if he were still alive today. It will always upset me but winning the show would be a great way to remember him."

"I ¬remember Dad, I know he was ¬really cheeky. My nan says I'm just like him. She always tells me how proud he'd be of me."

Despite hoping to win 'Strictly' alongside professional partner Pasha Kovalev, Chelsee thinks the crown will go to McFly drummer Harry Judd, as she is "terrified" her existing back injury will hold her back in the competition.

She added in an interview with the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I think Harry's brilliant and I'm sure he's going to go all the way. We all call him the champ because he's so good.

Because of Leak, Playboy Posts Lindsay Lohan's Pics Online Early

Because of Leak, Playboy Posts Lindsay Lohan's Pics Online Early

Just days after Lindsay Lohan's Playboy shoot leaked online, the publication has decided to post it on its website, at www.playboy.com/lohan.

TMZ.com reported early Friday that Playboy was concerned that the leak will hurt sales of what they expect to be the best-selling issue of the year. Late Friday, Playboy boss Hugh Hefner tweeted: "Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early." The magazine will still hit newsstands on Friday, Dec. 16.

Uncensored photos of Lohan's shoot, which evokes Marilyn Monroe's December 1953 pictorial for the magazine, appeared online Friday, including on PerezHilton.com.

The actress is slated to appear on Ellen on Thursday, Dec. 15. DeGeneres snagged the only interview Lohan has agreed to do during the on-sale period of the issue.

Gene Simmons Criticizes Madonna's Selection to Perform at the Super Bowl

Gene Simmons Criticizes Madonna's Selection to Perform at the Super Bowl

Madonna is not the right choice for the Super Bowl halftime show, says KISS' Gene Simmons.

"I love all karaoke singers," Simmons snarked to TMZ.com, when asked how he feels about her selection. "I like all the girl singers who get up and sing with tapes. Shame on you... I don't think it's appropriate." He added, "Madonna is terrific... I hate the tapes."

The 53-year-old Material Girl, who has a movie, W.E., coming out two days before the big game and is recording an album for spring release, follows in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen and The Who, all of whom has gotten the gig. (For what it's worth, KISS participated in 1999's headliner-free halftime show, which also included Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder.)

Madonna has not responded to Simmons' comments.

Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams: Oscar music consultants

Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams: Oscar music consultants

The Oscars will go in a new direction musically in 2012, with producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer choosing composer Hans Zimmer and songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams to be music consultants for the 84th Academy Awards.

Neither man has ever worked on the Oscar show before, though Zimmer won an Academy Award for "The Lion King" and has been nominated eight additional times.

The Grammy-winning Williams has written songs for a number of films, including "Bringing Down the House," 50 First Dates," "Knocked Up," "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Rush Hour 2" (from the show's former producer, Brett Ratner) and last year's "Despicable Me." He has yet to receive an Oscar nomination.

"Hans is one of the most accomplished and creative film composers of our time, and Pharrell is a phenomenal songwriter with an amazing list of credits," said Grazer and Mischer in an AMPAS statement. "This is an exciting and prestigious collaboration that promises to take the audience on a musical journey."

When he spoke to TheWrap two years ago, Zimmer criticized the Oscar music category for being a few years behind the times. "he Oscars are important to give us artistic courage," he said. "But I also think the Academy has a responsibility to keep relevant."

The 84th Academy Awards will take place on February 26, 2012 at the Kodak Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center.

A TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Under The Dome is in the works

A TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Under The Dome is in the works

Stephen King’s colossal 2009 novel, Under The Dome, is set for a TV adaptation, with the assistance of Steven Spielberg…

In 2009, Stephen King published Under The Dome, a sci-fi novel that, at more than a thousand pages long, stands as his magnum opus. Taking in a lengthy and eclectic cast of characters, the novel tells the story of a small US town (in Maine, naturally), that is one day encased under an invisible yet impassable barrier.

Dealing with themes such as human cruelty, mortality, politics and environmental destruction in its voluminous stack of pages, Under The Dome would have to be savagely abridged to fit into the format of even the lengthiest Hollywood movie.

It’s the perfect subject matter for a television series, though. And two years on from the book's US publication, it’s being reported that a TV adaptation is under way, with Stephen King and Steven Spielberg acting as developers.

At this early stage, it’s not yet clear who’ll adapt the script, or who will appear in front of the camera, but we know that, when it’s eventually finished, it’ll premier on the US channel, Showtime.

Zombieland TV series in the works

Zombieland TV series in the works

Zombieland was originally conceived as a television series. And it might just be heading to the small screen after all...

Hot on the heels of the announcement that the season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead smashed cable viewing records, it has been announced that a TV version of Zombieland is currently in development at Fox.

This news comes two years after Zombieland won over audiences and critics, and went on to be a hit at the box office. It had a mighty fine cameo in it, too.

The film was one of my favourites of that year, and I’ve been following the news of a potential movie sequel with interest. But ultimately. it doesn’t look as though that will happen. I hope we're proved wrong.

Still, Zombieland was originally pitched as a TV show and was developed into a film when it failed to get picked up. So it makes sense for it to return to its roots, and see how it fares as a half hour comedy. There are hints of the original plans for the project in the film itself, with things such as ‘Zombie Kill of The Week’, which would no doubt be a major feature should this make its way onto our screens at some point in the future.

I can’t imagine that any of the original cast would return, but introducing new characters to the world established won’t be a difficult task. Maybe we'll get some more cameos, too.

Handled in the right manner I think this could be great, particularly as original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are involved. But Fox has a record of handling shows poorly, and cancelling them before they have time to develop (although Fringe has been an obvious exception). This is concerning, as if the show does get made and turns out to be good, audiences will still live in fear of it getting axed. I guess that's the nature of the beast.

E! Shoots Down Bizarre Report of Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian Baby Swap

E! Shoots Down Bizarre Report of Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian Baby Swap

The network responds to the rumors as the sisters laugh it off.

The Kardashians have been accused of doing many things in their bid to grow their success, but the latest bizarre rumor has the sisters laughing and E! calling foul.

According to MediaTakeout.com’s sources, someone at E! network pitched that Kourtney Kardashian give her expected baby to her sister, Khloe Kardashian.

"It would be perfect,” the E! Insider tells the website. “Kourtney can help Khloe, it would add an interesting new wrinkle to their family dynamic. Not to mention, it would be ratings gold."

An E! spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter the report is “completely false, and yes, ridiculous.” The sisters also laughed off the news.

“Ha! I guess there's a rumor that [Kourtney] is giving Lamar and I her baby,” Khloe tweeted. “Gosh, Kourt that's so generous of you!”

She followed that with, “Where the hell do [peeps] come up with this s--t? Like are you serious?”

Kourtney laughed it off by responding to her sister, “Its all because of you babe! I would do anything for u!”

In late-November, Kourtney announced she and boyfriend of five years, Scott Disick, are expecting baby No. 2. Their son Mason just turned two years old. Khloe married NBA player, Lamar Odom, in September 2009. The couple have said they want to have children, but I expect they're willing to keep trying for their own.

Matt Lauer courted by '60 Minutes'

Matt Lauer courted by '60 Minutes'

As we reported earlier, Ryan Seacrest is in talks to replace Matt Lauer as the host of 'Today' if he decides to leave.  At the time of publishing this article, the poll we posted stands thusly: 25% of you think Seacrest can totally deliver the hard news. 73% of you wouldn't buy him talking about wars and famine. 2% of you think it will totally work if he starts losing his hair like Lauer.

Well, you may just be learning to live with the hardest working and most spiky-haired man in show business telling you about the latest stock market crash. According to THR, "60 Minutes" is looking at Lauer for their program. CBS News chairman Jeff Fager, who produces "60 Minutes" told the site that he'd "love to have Matt Lauer at "60 Minutes."

Lauer's contract with NBC doesn't end until the end of next year and Fauer hasn't actually spoken to him about a move. Still, it would be kind of perfect. Lauer has always managed to swing perfectly between hard news and pop culture pieces. Certainly more so than his former co-host Katie Couric, who may have been a bit bubbly for the evening news.

Lauer does have other options though. At a press conference to announce former co-host Meredith Viera's retirement from the show, he talked about the possibility of reuniting with Couric for a show, saying, "Katie and I did speak about it. As it turned out, it turned into just talk and that's how we left it."

We're just going to put out this plea. Please, Matt ... please don't make us listen to Ryan Seacrest's radio surfer dude voice talking about the stock market. Please? We're begging you. We'll happily send you video of us singing "Where In the World is Matt Lauer?" if you stay.

Sherlock series 2 episode 1: A Scandal In Belgravia spoiler-free review

Sherlock series 2 episode 1: A Scandal In Belgravia spoiler-free review

“Don’t be boring” Holmes tells a witness in A Scandal in Belgravia, the first episode of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ second three-part BBC series. That seems to have been the mantra adopted by Sherlock’s creators in this massively-anticipated follow-up to series one, because boring it is not.

Clever, funny, cheeky, dark, complex, and visually imaginative yes, but boring? Not for a minute.

A Scandal in Belgravia is what happens when an already great show gets a well-deserved confidence boost. Working on series one, Moffat and Gattiss must have had the inkling that they had something special on their hands, but no idea how warmly Sherlock would be welcomed by the viewing public, or how eagerly awaited a follow-up would be.

Last time around, Sherlock was something of a punt. This time, Moffat and Gattiss have their audience, and they don't half know it. If that sounds cocky, it’s because it is, and that’s no criticism. Cockiness is so typical a Holmesian trait the character practically wrote the monograph on it, so what better approach could the show’s creators take?

Take the dramatic cliffhanger ending of series one, which had Sherlock viewers baying for more and venting their delighted frustration online. A Scandal in Belgravia provides an audacious resolution, there’s no other word for it. Bold, and more than likely to prod some viewing trolls into online fury, the sheer confidence exhibited by the move is applause-worthy. And tonight, people did applaud it, as well you might when you see it unfurl.

The fearlessness doesn’t stop there. Just look at the story choices for the three episodes of series two: first up is Irene Adler kicking things off, then the turn of The Hound of the Baskervilles, followed by the final problem of the Reichenbach Falls. The three best-known entries in Holmes’ case book, tackled head-on. Why delay the gratification, is Moffat’s argument, and amen to that.

Gratification is something of a speciality in A Scandal in Belgravia, not just thematically, but in terms of giving the audience what they want. While suspense and action are still present and correct, Sherlock knows there are plenty of other places to go for TV car chases and alleyway fistfights, but only one combining them with high camp, humour, and the sort of verbal speed and agility that makes you wish Aaron Sorkin screenplays would get a move on.

The 90 minute duration of each episode means there’s room for several swift changes in tone, which ensures the drama doesn’t outstay its welcome, the comedy never grates, and the camp is never cringeworthy. It’s a devil of a balance they’ve achieved, but achieve it they have.

To the story then. Staying spoiler-free is something of an odd task when your subject has been in the public domain since the late nineteenth century, but here goes.

Once the small matter of the swimming pool confrontation has been tidied away, things move off at a fair whack. Holmes is beset by a parade of potential clients and cases, most of whom he dismisses, the rest he solves without breaking so much as a sweat. The reason he’s in-demand? Watson’s blog, of course, which happens to be getting more hits than Sherlock’s, not that he minds of course…

Soon a more interesting case is brought to Holmes’ attention, and one involving a matter of national security. Cue the entrance of one Irene Adler, a woman in possession of some rare incriminating evidence and something even rarer: the wits to outsmart Sherlock Holmes.

The novelty of this story and of choosing Adler as counterpart is that it gives the opportunity to show Holmes being bested. We’re presented with Holmes the buffoon, Holmes the baffled, Holmes having rings run around him, temporarily at least. It’s a chance to up the comedy, and make good use of Cumberbatch’s clowning skills. If none of that sounds very attractive to you, not to worry, it’s by no means a permanent shift, but it is a strangely enjoyable one while it lasts.

One of the great things about the BBC’s Sherlock is that it’s the first adaptation to underscore quite how annoying Sherlock Holmes would be to live with. The character’s cavalier arrogance and dismissal of lesser mortals such as foreigners, women, and the constabulary of Greater London are well documented in Conan Doyle’s stories, but until now, nobody’s made it quite so clear how punch-able Holmes is. That’s where the enjoyment at seeing him temporarily flummoxed comes in.

There’s also plenty of cheekbone-y deductive goodness for Cumberbatch fans, including one fairly special appearance from a bed sheet (I’ll say no more).

Holmes’ relationships with Watson, his brother Mycroft, and Mrs Hudson are all developed pleasingly, but the most tantalising relationship in A Scandal in Belgravia is that between Holmes and the woman: Irene Adler.

Lara Pulver turns in a game performance as Irene Adler, proving a great addition to the already wonderful cast of Cumberbatch, Freeman, Gatiss and Stubbs (oh yes, and Andrew Scott of course making an appearance which is not to be his last in the series...). It’s a fairly saucy role for Pulver, and she slots in very nicely indeed.

Adler’s inclusion makes for the raunchiest episode of Sherlock to date, in which Holmes’ attitude to sex and the heart come under scrutiny. Again, if you’re afeard of seeing the great rationalist brought mawkishly to his knees by love, don’t worry, it’s nothing so gauche or simple. Everything’s much more satisfyingly difficult than that. As Mark Gatiss specifies, the episode isn’t about Sherlock Holmes in love, but Sherlock Holmes and love. There’s quite a distinction.

Story-wise, A Scandal in Belgravia isn’t as self-contained as series one’s A Study in Pink or The Blind Banker, but more akin to The Great Game for the number of plot threads running through it. Without revealing too much, it’s fair to say that there are plenty of surprises and treats in store even for those familiar with A Scandal in Bohemia, which episode 2.1 is based upon.

Any talk of Sherlock’s treats and surprises would be remiss not to mention Paul McGuigan’s creative direction, which is, if anything better exploited in this episode than in any of the previous three. The now-characteristic text on screen is still being used to good effect, but in addition are some great visual ideas executed well.

McGuigan’s camera spins, cranes, tilts the horizon, and pulls some other nifty effects tricks which I won’t spoil save to say that they’re inventive and lots of fun. What that distinctive visual style does for Sherlock is beautifully disguise the fact that a large proportion of the show is just people sat in chairs, talking. The long monologues and quick-fire explanations are illustrated by fluid camerawork and imaginative editing, cleaving once again to that mantra: “Don’t be boring”.

If I were forced at gunpoint to have to have a quibble with A Scandal in Belgravia, then it’s this: the phrase ‘camera phone’ is used repeatedly in the episode, a phrase not to my knowledge in common use since 2002. If that’s all that’s wrong with this hugely funny, clever, entertaining series, then I expect Moffat, Gatiss and co. don’t have too many sleepless nights before them.

A welcome return then, to a tremendous show firing on every cylinder. In short, fabulous stuff.

'Lost Girl' renewed for third season

'Lost Girl' renewed for third season

Lost Girl has been picked up for a third season by Canadian network Showcase.

The paranormal drama, which stars Anna Silk as seductive succubus Bo, is currently in its second year.

Each episode follows Bo as she learns to control her supernatural abilities, helps those in need and learns more about her mysterious origins.

Life Unexpected's Ksenia Solo and The Tudors actor Kris Holden-Ried also appear on the show, which airs on Syfy in the UK.

Since launching in September 2010, Lost Girl has become Showcase's highest-rated drama series, with the second season averaging close to 400,000 viewers.

Anna Silk told earlier this year that the show is always "evolving and changing".

"I don't even know what's in store for the end of the [second] season yet," she explained. "I only know what comes to me every week in the scripts, so it's exciting for me to see how it's changing as well."

The Lost Girl midseason finale airs on Sunday, December 18 on Showcase. Production on season three will begin in spring 2012.

Big Brother: Jay and Alex, Anton and Rebeckah at war

Big Brother: Jay and Alex, Anton and Rebeckah at war

Several of the Big Brother 2011 housemates have been laying into each other on Twitter over their actions in the outside world.

Runner-up Jay Mckray alleged on the social networking site this morning (December 10) that Alex Rose had reneged on her agreement to split the £30,000 she won in the house with her fellow contestants, while Rebeckah Vaughan claimed that she had contacted police after being 'threatened' by Anton Murphy in a webcast.

"Some people are so different out off bb," Mckray wrote, claiming in a later post that Rose had only shared her money with Tom O'Connell.

"Alex is a totally different person...Am trying 2 be sivel but she's not the same person a was in that house with really nasty ! Am shocked to bits ! Not disco at al. (sic)

"[Alex is] not a nice person she's a nasty person...[she is] very nasty she's callin me worse than s**t am not putting up with it like just a bit upsetting."

However, Mckray clarified that he wasn't frustrated about missing out on a portion of Rose's winnings and was happy living his life with housemate and fiancée Louise Cliffe.

"no 1 cares about the money happiness is what counts," he added.

McKray's outburst comes after Vaughan threatened to contact authorities over comments made by Murphy in a live video message on Twitter last night (December 9).

"Me and All the #twitterfambo on my twitcam said absolutely nothing about anton yet as soon as he gets on his twitcam he starts talking about me asking what I was saying," she wrote. "Go away waste man nobody on my twitter EVER talks about you. You don't exist in my world stop tweeting and talking about me your embarrassing yourself."

When Murphy allegedly threatened to punch her the next time they meet, the club hostess asked if her followers would be prepared to give statements to the police and claimed that she would consider launching a defamation lawsuit.

Murphy, meanwhile, laughed off Vaughan's warnings and spent the night retweeting messages of support from his fans.

Series 12 of Big Brother concluded in early November, with Aaron Allard-Morgan being voted the winner.

'Sex and the City' Kim Cattrall joins 'Got Talent' judge shortlist

'Sex and the City' Kim Cattrall joins 'Got Talent' judge shortlist

Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall has become the latest star tipped for a spot on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel.

Simon Cowell will return to the ITV variety talent show next year, alongside regular show judge Amanda Holden.

However, Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff will not be back for a second stint, after the former quit and the latter was dropped from the series.

The new lineup is expected to have four judges, but no other names have been confirmed yet.

Little Britain's David Walliams, Barbara Windsor, ex-EastEnders star Samantha Womack, Dannii Minogue and Paul O'Grady are all thought to be in the running for the final two slots.

Cattrall is a new contender for a spot on the show and is likely to battle it out for the second female slot on the panel with Womack, according to The Sun.

Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV1 in Spring 2012.

Sony Steps Up Manufacturing After Pre-Orders Land F65 4K Camera in U.S. Top 200

Sony Steps Up Manufacturing After Pre-Orders Land F65 4K Camera in U.S. Top 200

The cameras are scheduled to ship out to customers in early January.

More than 200 of Sony’s F65 4K digital cinematography cameras have been pre-ordered in the U.S., according to a Sony exec.

At a Saturday open house in West Hollywood that featured the anticipated camera, Sony VP Satoshi Kanemura told The Hollywood Reporter that various directors and studios have already started testing the camera with an eye toward feature and TV productions.

Sony plans to begin shipping the camera to customers in early January and started to take pre-orders in September.

Kanemura said US-based resellers of the F65 would include AbelCine, BandPro and Rule Boston Camera.

Sony previously reported that the first batch of F65 cameras had been sold to rental business Otto Nemenz International.

The camera -- which is being developed with an 8K sensor and capable of handling 16-bit 4K and higher-resolution imagery -- was one of the most talked about announcements of the 2011 NAB Show, where the prototype was first unveiled. The base price for the F65 is $65,000.

West Hollywood-based postproduction facility Hollywood DI hosted the open house with partners and exhibitors including Sony, AbelCine, and Blackmagic Design. The focus was on the F65 camera, as well as related postproduction tools and techniques. The event also featured screenings of several shorts, including Curtis Clark’s The Arrival, which were lensed with the developing camera.

NBC Now Screening The Roots' Music Choices for 'Late Night'

NBC Now Screening The Roots' Music Choices for 'Late Night'

Fallout from 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon''s Michele Bachmann intro music controversy continues.

According to EW, The Roots, the in-house band on 'Late Night,' must now get their song choices approved by NBC. The band's frontman Questlove said he understands the need for the new process.

"It's still a comedy show, so they promise not to step on my toes or that type of thing, but they definitely want to know the title of the song, the subject matter of the song, can it be seen as an insult?" he said.

The new screening process comes after The Roots played 'Lyin' Ass B--ch' when the Republican presidential candidate walked on stage.

NBC apologized to Bachmann a day later. Doug Vaughan, the vice president for late night programming at NBC, sent the congresswoman a letter.

"It was kind of wrong for me to throw [NBC] under the bus without telling them what it was, so I understand from a business standpoint," Questlove told the Associated Press.

'All American Muslim': Lowe's Pulls Ads from TLC Show

'All American Muslim': Lowe's Pulls Ads from TLC Show

Hardware store Lowe's has pulled ads from TLC's new series 'All American Muslim' after the Florida Family Association encouraged members to email the program's advertisers.

The conservative organization posted a letter reportedly from a Lowe's representative, stating that the retail giant has agreed to pull its ads from the docu-series: "While we continue to advertise on various cable networks, including TLC, there are certain programs that do not meet Lowe's advertising guidelines, including the show you brought to our attention. Lowe's will no longer be advertising on that program."

Lowe's then acknowledged its decision on Twitter. "We did not pull our ads based solely on the complaints or emails of any one group. It is never our intent to alienate anyone. Lowe's values diversity of thought in everyone, including our employees and prospective customers."

'All American Muslim' looks at the lives of five Muslim American families from the Dearborn, Michigan area, home to one of the most active Muslim communities in the country and the largest mosque in North America.

However, according to the conservative Florida Family Association, "The show profiles only Muslims that appear to be ordinary folks while excluding many Islamic believers whose agenda poses a clear and present danger to liberties and traditional values that the majority of Americans cherish."

TLC has yet to comment on Lowe's pulling its advertising from the show, but a TLC spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly: "We stand behind the show 'All American Muslim' and we're happy the show has strong advertising support."

'All American Muslim' airs Sundays at 10PM ET on TLC.

'CNN Heroes': Go Behind the Scenes with Anderson Cooper

'CNN Heroes': Go Behind the Scenes with Anderson Cooper

Most televised award shows celebrate accomplished actors and performers, but for one very special night, CNN will honor everyday people, who are making extraordinary strides in their communities to make the world a better place, during their fifth annual 'CNN Heroes' broadcast.

"I've never gone through a whole show without tearing up backstage somewhere," host Anderson Cooper revealed in this exclusive behind the scenes clip. "When you tune in to watch 'Heroes,' you really are transported and transformed in a way."

Joining Cooper will be 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 winner, J.R. Martinez, who will co-host the pre-show of 'CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute' on Dec. 11. Before joining the cast of ABC's 'All My Children,' Martinez, an United States Army infantryman, was badly injured when his Humvee truck ran over a landmine in Iraq. He suffered a coma and intense burns on over 40 percent of his body, lost most of the hair on his head and one of his ears.

Following his accident, Martinez spent over two years in the hospital, undergoing 33 surgeries in just 34 months, including skin grafts and tissue expansions, to repair the damage to his body.

Participating in this year's tribute include comedians Jerry Seinfeld and George Lopez; actors J.R. Martinez and Chris Colfer; musicians Ice Cube and will.i.am; model Christy Turlington Burns; former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner; and actresses Laura Dern, Mary-Louise Parker and Sofia Vergara. In addition, Kid Rock will perform his song 'Care,' while Miley Cyrus will perform her multi-platinum hit ballad, 'The Climb.'

Go behind the scenes with Anderson Cooper as he explains the ups and downs of hosting a live show, in the clip below. 'CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute,' will air on Dec. 11 at 8PM ET on CNN.

The Finder First Look: Check Out the Official Poster For Fox's Bones Spinoff

The Finder First Look: Check Out the Official Poster For Fox's Bones Spinoff

Is Geoff Stults’ professional locator Walter Sherman in way over his head? Or is he looking for someone’s missing pet shark? Or are we reading way to much into the following key art for Fox’s upcoming Bones offshoot, The Finder?

On the surface at least, the poster conveys all the key message points about the procedural: the setting is tropical, it shares DNA with Bones, and it centers around “a different kind of detective” — in this case, a brain damaged Iraq war vet who possesses a unique ability: he can find almost anything for anybody.

Oh, and most importantly, it premieres Thursday, Jan. 12 at 9/8c.

Why Didn't Gossip Girl Dare to Dair? Is Revenge Hiding a Sibling Secret? And More TV Questions!

Why Didn't Gossip Girl Dare to Dair? Is Revenge Hiding a Sibling Secret? And More TV Questions!

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we are going to throw at you, from shows such as Nikita, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Revenge, Bones and Community!

01 Has frequent Nikita guest star Devon Sawa been promoted yet to series regular? And if not, why?! The guy steals each and every scene he’s in.

02 Is there a more thankless role on an otherwise superb piece of television than Homeland‘s Mike? Even when they give Diego Klattenhoff something to do (Advise Nick! Persuade Jessica! Dribble a basketball!), they don’t give him anything to do.

03 Are Boardwalk Empire‘s Gillian and Jimmy the creepiest mother-and-son duo since [suggest names in the comments section]?

04 Did Kalinda’s pre-Lockhart Gardner alter ego, Leela, spend some time in Britain? How else to explain the increasing presence of Archie Panjabi’s native accent this season on The Good Wife?

05 Is Colin Hanks the most cartoonish villain in Dexter history?

06 Does anyone else find themselves screaming at their television every time Chef Faulkner proclaims she is already The Next Iron Chef‘s next Iron Chef?

07 ABC has promised Vanessa Williams a plum role on a new or existing series as payment for imprisoning her in an increasingly superfluous role during Desperate Housewives‘ final season… right?

08 Which line of Castle fans do you think would be longer: Those volunteering to be handcuffed to Nathan Fillion, or to Stana Katic?

09 Forget who the mother is! What is going on with Robin’s clothes on How I Met Your Mother? Thank goodness for her black dress this week because the blouse/trousers at the beginning of the episode were dreadful.

10 Dear Gossip Girl: Couldn’t we have had at least a little Dan/Blair romance before the inevitable Chuck/Blair reunion?

11 Why are more people not watching (and obsessing over) HBO’s hilarious and transcendent Enlightened?
