'Downton Abbey', 'Game of Thrones' stars for BBC One's 'The Syndicate'

Mark Addy (Game of Thrones) and Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey) are among those confirmed to star in a second series of BBC drama The Syndicate.

Series two of Kay Mellor's acclaimed show will focus on five low-paid hospital workers in Bradford who win £72 million in the EuroMillions lottery draw.

Addy will play recovering alcoholic Alan, who finds himself tempted by the booze following the big win, while Finneran is cast as nurse Mandy.

Natalie Gavin (Prisoners' Wives) will star as Mandy's daughter Becky, a single mother whose numbers win the jackpot, while Jimi Mistry (Strike Back) is male nurse Tom, who decides to have a baby with his girlfriend following the win.

Gavin & Stacey's Alison Steadman is the final member of the syndicate, former dancer Rose, who hopes to pick up where she left off with the help of an expensive double knee replacement.

"The Syndicate is a drama series of our time," said writer Mellor. "As the world recession bites harder and deeper, more and more people are doing the lottery. It gives them the weekly hope of winning their way out of debt and poverty. They are five little balls away from living their dream or so they think!"

BBC One's Polly Hill added: "We are delighted to be making a second series of the acclaimed drama The Syndicate. Kay's brilliant scripts have once again attracted an incredible cast that will make this drama a real treat for the BBC One audience next year."

The first series of The Syndicate starred Timothy Spall, Lorraine Bruce, Matthew Lewis, Matthew McNulty and Joanna Page as supermarket workers who won a big cash prize.

Steve Carell to Executive-Produce Fox Comedy Starring 'Daily Show' Correspondent Jason Jones

Steve Carell is getting back into the television game -- as a producer this time.

The former star of "The Office," Carell will executive-produce a new comedy at Fox which will star his "Daily Show" colleague Jason Jones.

The as-yet-untitled comedy centers around a single man who has shunned the family life until he has to care for his sister's children when she's called back into active duty in the military.

Chris Weitz, of "Twilight: New Moon" and "American Pie" renown, is also executive-producing the comedy, which is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Carell is executive-producing via his Carousel Productions, along with Carousel's Thom Hinkle. Andrew Mian, from Weitz's production company Depth of Field, is also executive-producing.

Jones will serve as the project's sole writer.

Carell's upcoming big-screen projects include "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" and the "Anchorman" sequel "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."

Justin Bieber Is Gonna Take Oprah Winfrey Around the World

Justin Bieber and Oprah Winfrey are going global together.

Getty ImagesSinging teen heartthrob Bieber will be the subject of a very special edition of "Oprah's Next Chapter," which will air in more than 100 countries worldwide thanks to an agreement with Discovery Networks International.

The first-ever global episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" will first air Nov. 25 at 9 p.m. on Winfrey's OWN, before airing on Discovery Networks International's female flagship stations TLC, Home & Health and Real Time, also beginning on Nov. 25.

For the episode, Winfrey attended Bieber's concert at All-State Arena in Rosemont, Ill., before breaking bread with him at the RL Restaurant in Chicago for an interview.

Winfrey grilled Bieber on such topics as "his growth as an artist, the pitfalls of fame and living in the spotlight," OWN said in a release.

The pair then went holiday shopping together at the Ralph Lauren store in Chicago.

Young Apprentice 2012: Lord Sugar to take show to rival channel?

Lord Sugar has said he’s considering taking the Young Apprentice to another channel, after the BBC cancelled the series.

The Apprentice spin-off will be back next month on BBC One, but will be the last series after the BBC confirmed it would not be commissioning a fourth run.

“The BBC, in their usual manner, like to palm it off that it’s not their fault,” Lord Sugar said today. “Let me make it perfectly clear — if it doesn’t come back, it will be because the BBC hasn’t got the funding or they don’t wish to commission it again.

“I would do it all day and all night. The fact is that the BBC have financial constraints and have to juggle their scheduling.

“This is one of many programmes which maybe they won’t be able to commission again, so there it is.”

Speaking to The Sun this morning about the upcoming series, Lord Sugar said he hoped the line up of teenage youngsters would prove to be a hit in the ratings.

He said: “The kids are excellent. There are some great candidates, some great youngsters — the future entrepreneurs of Britain.

“Regretfully, if the BBC can’t do the show I may have to take the format somewhere else. I’m passionate about business programmes with youngsters.”

The brand new series of Young Apprentice 2012 starts on Thursday, November 1st at 8PM on BBC One.

'ER' Alum Ming-Na Joins Joss Whedon's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Pilot for ABC

"ER" veteran Ming-Na has signed on for another acronym-driven project.

Ming-Na, who starred on the medical drama "ER" for nine years, has signed on for "Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot, which will be written by "Avengers" writer-director Joss Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen ("Dollhouse").

The pilot revolves around the titular peace-keeping force featured in Marvel comics and the movies that they spawned, including "The Avengers."

Ming-Na will play agent Melinda May.

Whedon will also executive-produce the project along with Jed, Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb of Marvel Television if it goes into production, and is attached to direct, schedule permitting.

"The Avengers" actor Clark Gregg, who played Agent Coulson in the big-screen superhero epic, has also signed on for the pilot, which comes via ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Ming-Na's other recent television work includes runs on "Two and a Half Men," as well as the sci-fi offerings "SGU Stargate Universe" and "Eureka."

'Scrubs' Star Zach Braff Lands Comedy With ABC

Zach Braff is coming back to network TV -- behind the camera this time.

Former "Scrubs" star Braff will write, executive-produce and direct a new half-hour comedy that's been purchased by ABC.

"Garage Bar" will revolve around a gang of pals who discover the good and bad sides of fame when one of them hits it big as a music star.

The project is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Deadline first reported the news of "Garage Bar"'s purchase.

X Factor 2012 judges: Tulia gets dress ban for wearing 'fakes'

X Factor judge Tulisa has been hit with a ban on designer dresses, after being pictured wearing fakes!

An official spokesperson for top designer Herve Leger confirmed it was refusing to loan Tulisa any of its bandage dresses, after she wore ‘knock off’ copycat styles.

The spokesperson told heat magazine this week: “Herve Leger has a policy that we do not support anyone who wears fake goods.”

A source explained how Tulisa had previously been lent dresses worth thousands of pounds for the live shows last year.

“Tulisa has been known for wearing Herve Leger before and was lent two dresses for The X Factor last year – one dress was worth £12,000,” the insider said.

However the source revealed that Tulisa’s decision to wear cheaper versions of the dress, such as the one above, have seen her banned by the fashion label.

“But earlier this summer she was spotted wearing fake versions of the brand, so they’ve made the decision to stop lending to her,” the source added.

Speaking about her style to the magazine, Tulisa added: “There are two sides to my style: Young, fresh and glam, and urban, edgy and cool. In the past year, since going solo, I’ve started finding myself when it comes to fashion.”

Unfortunately for Tulisa, Louis Walsh has said this week that she needs to “up her game” in the style war with Nicole Scherzinger.

“I’d have to say Nicole is winning. I think Nicole gets it right nearly all the time. Tulisa has had to up her game! She looks fabulous too,” Louis said.

The XFactor continues this Saturday night with a spooky Halloween themed episode as the remaining ten contestants perform live once again.

The latest results show follows on Sunday, which will feature performances from Fun. and Robbie Williams, as well as one more act being given the boot.

I'm A Celebrity 2012 line up: The rumours so far!

I’m A Celebrity 2012 kicks off next month on ITV1, and there’s been plenty of rumours about this year’s line up.

Most recently, Helen Flanagan has been addressing reports that she’s set to appear in the jungle this year.

Discussing the rumours that she has signed up for I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, Helen told The Sun this week that the series would be a “daunting project” for her and her fears.

She told the newspaper yesterday: “I get asked to do shows like this all the time, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

“It would be a daunting prospect as I’m very scared of heights and it would be a real challenge.

“I think it’s something you would have to really think about before agreeing to do.”

It’s certainly not a no!

Rumoured celebs that could be joining Helen on this year’s I’m A Celebrity line up include singer Grace Jones, darts champ Eric Bristow and Birds of a Feather star Linda Robson.

It was reported earlier this year that bosses were keen to get Olympic stars on this year’s line up.

According to The Sun, names on the show’s wish list include cycling champs Bradley Wiggins and Elizabeth Armitstead, as well as gymnast Beth Tweddle and swimmer Rebecca Adlington.

Producers have also apparently found themselves involved in a bidding war with Celebrity Big Brother bosses over one star.

Kate Middleton’s stripper cousin Katrina Darling is reportedly wanted for both shows, with Channel 5 bosses also keen to get the burlesque performer onto Celebrity Big Brother 2013

According to the Daily Star recently, producers from both camps are prepared to “break the bank” in the hopes that Katrina will provide reality telly “dynamite”

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Georgia Salpa is also set to enter the I’m A Celebrity jungle later this year.

The Sun reports that I’m A Celeb bosses want the Irish model to sex up the camp this November.

But the brunette beauty could be too scared to take part, with a fear with heights and snakes.

“If she went on the show, it could have the same effect on her career as it did for Myleene Klass,” a pal of the model’s said.

However Georgia hit back at the claims this week. “I don’t know where people got that from but I’m definitely not going to be on the show this year,” she said. “To be honest I think I’m a little too girly to set up camp in the jungle anyway.”

Former Eastenders star Ricky Groves has also been linked to I’m A Celebrity 2012.

The Sun reported this week that the actor, who played Garry Hobbs in the BBC One series, has been approached to take part in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!

The newspaper also claims that Ricky is “keen” to head out to the Aussie jungle next month for the new series

More recently, Former What Not To Wear presenters Trinny and Susannah are rumoured to be heading Down Under to take part in the new series.

The Sun claims that the fashionistas hope to revive their UK telly careers with an appearance on the ITV show, which returns next month.

A source told the newspaper: “It will be great watching Trinny and Susannah trying to slum it in the jungle. They are both strong and opinionated women and they’re bound to ruffle a lot of feathers.”

TOWIE beauty Maria Fowler has also been linked to the series, having quit the ITV2 series earlier this year.

A source told the Daily Star: “Producers are digging deep to try to get her. There is talk of offers on the table of up to £250,000.”

And Maria could be joined by Pussycat Doll babe Ashley Roberts, with an insider telling The Sun today: “Ashley is feisty and fun, but above all sexy. The jungle nonsense won’t faze her.”

Misfits’ 10 most rubbish powers

In celebration of Misfits’ unique approach to super-powers, we count down the ten most useless abilities to feature on the show so far…

It’s the ultimate in pub conversations. More revealing than “Who remembers The Flumps?”, more engrossing than dissecting the England line-up, and much less nasty than Shag Marry Kill. If you could have a super-power, which would you choose?

The creators of Misfits must have spent a fair amount of time reflecting on just that. Set in the aftermath of an ability-endowing storm that left its victims not just damp but with the powers of invisibility, telepathy and the like, Misfits is filthy, violent, very, very funny, and back for its fourth series at the end of this month.

Initially at least, the Misfits allocation of abilities related to the personality of the receiver. One was shy and ignored, so gained the power of invisibility, another regretted past mistakes, so became able to rewind time, and so on. The introduction of a powers dealer in the series two Christmas special provided a whoosh of new life for the series by mixing up the initial combinations of character and power. And if you were lumbered with one of the ten powers below, selling’s probably your best option…

Lacto-manipulation

If Misfits proves anything about the whole super-abilities business, it’s that it’s not what you have, but how you use it that’s important. Kelly (Lauren Socha) swapped her telepathy for genius-level electro-engineering skills, which on paper, sounded like a practical acquisition. As it turned out, aside from fixing the odd car engine or burglar alarm, Kelly’s newly acquired skills proved of little use other than to coin her new character catchphrase: “I’m a fucking rocket scientist” (totally worth it, in my book).

The power to manipulate lactose-based produce on the other hand (as demonstrated by Brian in series two) sounds about as useful as a chocolate kettle, but in the right, psychopathic hands, turned out to be a sinister murderous weapon, so long as your victim was a recent ingester of dairy products. By controlling the lactose molecules inside people’s digestive systems, young Brian was able to cause strokes, heart attacks and choke his victims to cheesy death.

Only useful if: the Venn diagram of people you want to kill and people who consume cheese toasties has a significant overlap.

Thinking you’re a Jack Russell Terrier

There’s never been a comic book hero whose superpower was being convinced they were their childhood Jack Russell, has there? Probably for the best, that.

Nathan’s mum’s boyfriend’s storm-related power was the nocturnal ability to think he was a dog, with all the concomitant bin-bag scavenging, cat-chasing, and public defecation you’d expect. It wasn’t a Dr Doolittle deal either - Jeremy couldn’t just talk to dogs, he became one in every way but physically (where he remained very much a man as the gang were keen to point out). More curse than superpower, this one.

Only useful if: It’s probably the only circumstance in which you’d be able to get away with licking your step-son’s face whilst in the nude without Esther Rantzen getting involved.

Alopecia power!

Just by its title, you know this isn’t going to top many superhero wish-lists, though it is an effective ‘walk a mile in my Nikes’-style punishment. Tailored to suit Jodi, an alopecia-sufferer and the girl Kelly lamped in Argos to end up as one of the ASBO five, this is the power to make your enemy’s hair fall out. It’s not the most violent blow to strike against a foe, and one of the few super-powered attacks that can be rectified using a perky bandana.

Only useful if: You were pitted against biblical Samson.

Tony’s rage

Tony was the probation officer who started it all, the first Spinal Tap drummer if you will. Since Tony, three more – Sally, Shaun and Laura – have all corked it, a track record that means series four newcomer Greg (the brilliant Shaun Dooley) probably shouldn’t start any long books in the near future.

After the storm struck, Tony was gifted with super-strength twinned with a murderous rage that sent him berserk towards his ASBO charges. Fair enough, the strength might come in handy, but Hulking out isn’t the most practical of abilities, meriting his milky-eyed rage a place on this list.

Only useful if: You’re pursuing a career in underground cage fights? Need to defeat the Red Hulk? Anything that requires ice-pick murder?

Sexy pheromone frenzy

Ethically, this power is a mess, and - to quote an offensive but apt line from The Inbetweeners - a bit rapey. Misfits isn’t one to shy away from sexual assault as episode fodder, having featured a sex attack Jesus in its Christmas special, devoted Curtis’ gender-swap episode to the subject, and disturbingly, showed Simon fondle a barely conscious Kelly early on in the show’s run.

Alisha’s ability (developed thanks to her use of sex to manipulate her way out of tricky situations and reputation as, to quote another indelicate phrase, a “cock monster”) means she can uncontrollably turn on anyone who touches her. It’s soon revealed to be more Midas-like curse than a gift, scuppering her sex life with Curtis, and gaining her a huge amount of unwanted attention. As soon as she’s able in fact, she gets rid of it, opting for the much more sensible power of clairvoyance.

Only useful if: You’re a sex offender.

Video game vision

Viewing real-life through the warped prism of your favourite video game (as suffered by one-off character Tim in series two), isn’t so much a power as a hindrance. If you were a fan of the indie or retro market at least, then the notion of bouncing along like an 8-bit Mario or floating down the high street like that amoeba from Flow has its attractions, but if like Tim, you’ve confused Thamesmead South for Liberty City, it’s never going to end well.

Imagine living your life as if it’s a Grand Theft Auto mission. Shell suits, shitbag caricatured gangsters and women in eighties boob tubes with post-dental injection open mouths are what awaits. And that’s not even considering the fact that chasing down dodgy contacts and nicking motors is a fast route to the big house, which is exactly where poor deluded Tim ends up.

Only useful if: like that heavily tattooed chap in Prison Break, you’re itching to get yourself arrested.

Emotional twindom

Rudy’s ability to split into two versions of himself (one a cocky raconteur, the other a shivering pile of neuroses), may have its uses when it comes to needing to be in two places at once, but on the whole it’s another bum-deal. Essentially just an excuse to have twice as much Joseph Gilgun on screen (who’s complaining?), Rudy’s emotional twindom was the basis for some great scenes in series three, even if it’s not a power most of us would covet.

Only useful if: you needed to make a quick getaway and only had a railway pump trolley at your disposal?

Genitalia zap attack

I know what you’re thinking, surely the ability to cause a victim’s wedding tackle to change colour, shrivel up and eventually fall off has myriad real-life uses. You can probably think of at least five people right now who deserve the treatment, and that’s before you’ve even had a proper look through today’s papers. Even so, it’s no power of flight now is it, this willy-shrivelling business?

Like a reverse-Dr Christian then, Leah uses her mystical STD ability to dish out a disgusting form of justice to men who lie to get into women’s pants. It’s essentially the genitalia version of that vengeful alopecia treatment, but much, much worse.

Only useful if: You’re the booker on Embarrassing Bodies and short on awful genitals that week.

Zombie resurrection

The power of resurrection is certainly one worth having, but only being able to bring something or someone back as a bloodthirsty zombie? Limited in its applications.

Resurrection was the ability powers dealer Seth was waiting to come along so he could assuage his guilt over his OD’d girlfriend by returning her to the land of the living. When she came back wrong and with a taste for iguana blood though, he realised it was all a mistake. From Shannon to Mr Miggles the cat to that unfortunate cheerleader troupe, the existence of a Misfit zombie is not one to envy.

Only useful if: you were a few walkers short for your The Walking Dead ARG.

Gender swap

Curtis’ power to switch genders ended up causing much more trouble than it was worth, not least when he managed to impregnate himself after engaging in a bout of gender-bending self-abuse. A reluctant recipient of the power to begin with, Curtis did gain some personal insight in a What Women Want kind of way thanks to his newly acquired X chromosome, but his time-turning was the real belter that he should never have let go.

Only useful if: female to male: you needed the loo and there was a queue for the Ladies; male to female: getting a job as your ex-wife's Scottish housekeeper to spend more time with your kids.

Palin Accuses Obama of 'Shuck and Jive'

Sarah Palin used the racially loaded term "shuck and jive" to describe President Obama's handling of the Benghazi, Libya attack that killed four Americans.

Claiming that Obama knew a terrorist group had claimed responsibility for the attacks long before he said so publicly, Palin wrote Wednesday on Facebook: "President Obama's shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end."

The phrase refers to acting or behaving in a distracting and facetious way to stay out of trouble. It carries racial connotations because it has often been used to refer to some African-Americans' efforts to ingratiate themselves to whites, particularly during the slavery and Jim Crow eras.

Conservatives called out White House spokesman Jay Carney last year for using the phrase during a briefing. He said he would have to "shuck and jive" for reporters because he had brought the wrong notes.

The former vice presidential candidate and reality TV star has some history of using highly sensitive phrases. In January 2011, she accused her critics of "blood libel." She was perhaps unaware at the time that the phrase refers to the false accusation that Jews use the blood of children in religious ceremonies.

Palin also drew attention last month when she questioned the president's penis size in another criticism of his foreign policy.

Palin's latest remark also comes just after another prominent Republican commentator, Ann Coulter, referred to the president as "the retard" on Twitter.

Palin, the mother of a special-needs child, has criticized President Obama in the past for a tasteless joke he made about the Special Olympics.

10. "Don't make me do that again - I'm not sure my heart can take it."

'Any Dream Will Do' star axed from panto due to porn career

Former reality TV star Craig Chalmers has been axed from a Christmas panto, after he was discovered to have appeared in a porn film.

The actor finished in fifth place in 2007's Any Dream Will Do, the BBC show which searched for a new star to play Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

He has since embarked on a career on stage, and was set to play Prince Charming at the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline, Scotland.

However, he has now been replaced by CBBC's James Mackenzie after a member of the public spotted his porn background.

He has starred under the alias Ryan Ryder, with his own profile on the adult talent agency website JEM, reports The Sun.

A spokeswoman from the Alhambra Theatre said: "In light of information given by the public, of which we were completely unaware, we can confirm Craig Chalmers is no longer taking part in the pantomime."

Chalmers has stated that he is not "ashamed" of his new porn role, and explained that there had been a "crossover" period between his careers.

He said: "I'm not ashamed of it. I'm being well paid and I'm comfortable with doing it.

"The plan was to wrap my panto career up after this Christmas and concentrate on my new career.

"However there has been an unintended crossover and I'm well aware that there is a clear conflict of interest.

"I understand that a lot of people are going to judge me badly for it but at the end of the day both my friends and family are fully aware of my career and they support my decision."

Craig Chalmers has also previously performed with all-male strip group G-Force, while also being a member of boyband No Reason.

John Simm downplays 'Doctor Who' return possibility

John Simm has downplayed the likelihood of returning to Doctor Who.

The Life on Mars actor was quoted earlier this week as saying that he is open to appearing in Doctor Who again to take The Master to a "very, very dark place".

"I'd love to have another take on him, to be a bit quieter," Simm told fans at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.

He also said: "I started annoying myself after a while [in my previous appearances]. [Then-showrunner] Russell T Davies had a specific idea of what he wanted him to be like. So I just had to do exactly what he wanted me to, and he wanted a giggling lunatic."

Simm has now taken to Twitter to clarify that he was speaking off the cuff and that another Doctor Who guest appearance is not actually in the works.

"The Master thing is honestly a non story. I was answering a specific question at a Q+A. [It's] been taken out of context," he wrote.

Simm first appeared in Doctor Who as The Master in the third series's three-part finale.

He returned for David Tennant's final episodes The End of Time, where The Master saved The Doctor's life by deflecting Time Lord President Rassilon's attack.

The character of The Master was originally played by Roger Delgado in 1971. Peter Pratt, Geoffrey Beevers, Anthony Ainley, Eric Roberts and Sir Derek Jacobi have also played the villainous Time Lord.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One this Christmas for a festive special, with eight more episodes to follow in 2013.

'X Factor': Simon Cowell 'wants Chris Maloney out'

Simon Cowell has allegedly stated that he wants Christopher Maloney to be voted off The X Factor.

The former judge and executive producer is said to have labelled the singer as "dated and cheesy", and has launched a secret plot to try and remove him from the competition.

Cowell has reportedly asked judges Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger to heavily criticise the 34-year-old in the hopes of convincing the public not to vote for him.

"Chris winning or even getting further into the competition is a disaster for Cowell," a source told The Mirror.

"He wants Chris out and the fact that his mentor is Gary Barlow makes him even more desperate to get him kicked off."

Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow have recently been rumoured to have a rivalry behind the scenes, with Cowell said to have been angry at Barlow's OBE.

Chris Maloney has been reported to have topped the votes in the first two weeks of The X Factor, ahead of bookmakers' favourite Ella Henderson.

'Britain's Got Talent' Amanda Holden: 'Bring on the naked unicyclists'

Amanda Holden has said that Britain's Got Talent contestants should "think outside the box".

The talent show judge told Metro that she welcomes the stranger examples of Britishness on the show.

"Think outside the box," Holden urged contestants seeking her vote.

"I don't want anything too contrived but we're renowned for our eccentricities."

She added: "We've been celebrating our Britishness with events such as the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee, and long may that continue.

"I'm sure there are lots of naked unicyclists who eat fire while juggling dogs and I hope to see them at the auditions."

Of whether the newer judges should respect her authority as the longest-standing member of the panel, Holden said: "No. We all do our own thing and value each other's opinion, no matter how long we've been there.

"I gave David [Walliams] and Alesha [Dixon] the same advice Simon [Cowell] gave me - just say what you think."

Holden recently claimed that Cowell's other talent show The X Factor is "boring", adding that she never usually watches it through to the end.

Donald Trump's October Surprise: I Don't Have One

Donald Trump doesn't have any secret documents about the president, but he'd be willing to pay for some.

Trump's announcement that he would reveal a big surprise today that would shake up the presidential race led to all sorts of speculation about what he knew. There was even ill-informed talk that he might unveil records showing the president and first lady once considered divorcing.

But the "Apprentice" host revealed at noon that he has discovered... dumdumdum... nothing.

Rather, his big surprise was that he's willing to make a $5 million donation to the charity of President Obama's choice if he will release his college records and "passport records," whatever those are.

Jon Stewart: Romney Was Against Obama's Foreign Policy Before He Was For It

"The Daily Show" used clever editing to drive home just how much Mitt Romney and Barack Obama agreed on in Monday's foreign policy debate -- and raise questions about why Romney has been so critical of U.S. foreign policy in the past if he's embracing it today.

Jon Stewart's debate commentary played up the distinctions betwen Romney then and now.

"The president has communicated weakness," Romney said in a Feb. 3 presented by the "Daily Show" staff.

But in Monday's debate, Romney and the president sounded so alike that the show was able to splice their comments on Syria into a duet. All that was missing -- not that we mind -- was the autotune.

"I think Romney's leaning Obama," Stewart said.
