Ashleigh & Pudsey win 'Britain's Got Talent' 2012

Ashleigh & Pudsey win 'Britain's Got Talent' 2012

Ashleigh & Pudsey have won this year's Britain's Got Talent.

The dog dancing act was announced by hosts Ant & Dec as the act with the most amount of votes to win by the viewing public, ahead of second-placed singing duo Jonathan & Charlotte.

A tearful Ashleigh told Ant & Dec upon hearing the result: "A massive thank you to everyone that voted for us. I'm just proud of Pudsey. Thank you so much."

A beaming Simon Cowell said: "My life's work is now complete. I want to say a huge thank you to these three [the judges]. This has been one of my favourite years, [Ant & Dec] have always been amazing."

Amanda Holden added: "I am absolutely completely delighted, but more than that, Simon Cowell said that if the dog won he would dance with it!"

Ashleigh & Pudsey then proceeded to perform their Mission: Impossible act once more, including Cowell giving Pudsey a stroke at the judges' table.

Speaking on Britain's Got More Talent afterwards, Cowell added: "I love dogs, I love animals and I really like Ashleigh. They deserve it. That dog will become the most famous dog in the world."

Loveable Rogues, Sam Kelly, Ryan O'Shaughnessy, Molly Rainford, Aquabatique, Kai & Natalia, The Mend and Nu Sxool also performed in tonight's final.

'Britain's Got Talent': Cowell 'to give Jonathan, Charlotte £1m deal'

Simon Cowell reportedly wants to make Britain's Got Talent stars Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli bigger than Susan Boyle.

The judge will give the operatic singing duo a £1m Syco deal regardless of tonight's (May 12) final result, The Sun reports.

Meanwhile, Sony boss Rob Stringer is said to be flying in from America to watch the pair perform and plans to offer them a US deal with Columbia Records.

"Simon knows they will sell a huge number of records. They could even go on to beat Susan Boyle - and she's sold millions," a source said.

"This time last year he was faced with the not-particularly exciting prospect of having to sell Jai McDowall records. He was in a funk. But this year his excitement levels are off the scale.

"He's watched as Jonathan and Charlotte have taken the country by storm. He knows that opera is a big seller, especially if people like the person singing it."

Jonathan and Charlotte will start recording in the studio the week after next. An album is expected to be released by Christmas.

Showbiz agent Jonathan Shalit, who masterminded the careers of Tulisa Contostavlos and Myleene Klass, will manage the duo.

Cowell said: "I think they've got a big, big chance of selling records all over the world. They're amazing singers. I'm particularly impressed with how Charlotte has improved."

Britney Spears 'to announce X Factor USA deal at Fox upfronts'

Britney Spears 'to announce X Factor USA deal at Fox upfronts'

Britney Spears will personally appear at the Fox upfronts in New York City on Monday to be unveiled as a judge on The X Factor USA, reports say.

According to TMZ, the 'Toxic' singer hadn't officially signed up for the show as of Friday morning, despite numerous reports claiming otherwise.

The final details of the rumoured $15m deal were reportedly being worked out before her co-conservators - father Jamie Spears and fiancé Jason Trawick - sign the contract, which will most likely occur over the weekend.

Spears will allegedly travel to New York as she believes personally appearing at the event will create a buzz for the show's second season.

Demi Lovato is rumoured to be the other female judge, after Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were axed from the panel.

Chaka Khan is also lobbying producers to become a judge on The X Factor USA.

'Home and Away' Dan Ewing: 'Heath's storylines get heavy'

'Home and Away' Dan Ewing: 'Heath's storylines get heavy'

Home and Away star Dan Ewing has hinted that life is about to get tougher for his bad boy character Heath Braxton.

The actor, who has been portraying the role for over a year, revealed that Heath will face some of the most difficult challenges of his life.

Ewing told TV Week: "It's about putting a human being through some serious tests you would never put on yourself.

"The storylines coming up are very, very heavy."

Heath's current stories revolve around his desire to be part of his unborn child's life after getting Bianca Scott pregnant.

Although Bianca (Lisa Gormley) and husband Liam (Axle Whitehead) are facing a split, Ewing recently warned that Heath will not be settling down with the blonde any time soon.

PRIMETIME PILOT PANIC: CBS Edition

PRIMETIME PILOT PANIC: CBS Edition

This is a mini-shocker. Word is that CBS is passing on the Nick Stoller comedy pilot ENTRY LEVEL. There has always been concern whether CBS would schedule a single-camera comedy in its blocks of all-multi-camera sitcoms but the network had expressed commitment to the genre. However, while Entry Level was received well and was an early frontrunner, it looks like CBS will again stick to all-multi-camera comedies next season. I also hear that APPLEBAUM is now dead too, along with Oh Fk, It’s You. That leaves only  Elementary, Ralph Lamb, Baby Big Shot, Golden Boy, Friend Me, Partners and possibly Martin Lawrence in contention. UPDATE 9PM: I’ve confirmed that the Marin Lawrence comedy is not going forward, so here you have it: Elementary, Ralph Lamb, Baby Big Shot, Golden Boy, Friend Me and Partners appear to be CBS’ picks for next season.

Rumors are flying that most of the other CBS pilots are dead, including TROOPER, WIDOW DETECTIVE, DORF/FALCONE and SUPER FUN NIGHT. Information on OH FK, IT’S YOU has been conflicting, with some saying it’s dead and others suggesting that could still be a possibility for midseason.

And we’re down to the last network that is yet to pick up its new and returning series for next season — CBS. As usual, the Fort Knox of networks this time a year is keeping things close to the vest and dragging on the final pickup decisions until the very last minute. The Sherlock Holmes reboot ELEMENTARY continues its march to the fall schedule. The ambitious period drama RALPH LAMB is considered a major swing and departure from CBS’ comfort zone but, with its execution and the caliber of talent involved, including star Dennis Quaid, it continues to be considered a very strong contender. Among the three procedurals with a female lead, the legal drama BABY BIG SHOT looks like the frontrunner at the moment, and I hear it has begun making offers to writers. Of the other two, APPLEBAUM, which has had support from CBS’ Nina Tassler, has an outside chance, while TROOPER doesn’t seem to be going. Among the rest of the drama field, GOLDEN BOY is heating up again. On the comedy side, two buddy multi-camera comedies, PARTNERS and FRIEND ME, are getting the most buzz, both making writer offers, with the single-camera NICK STOLLER project in contention and the MARTIN LAWRENCE project a possibility, maybe for midseason.

On the renewal front, following the ratings increase for Unforgettable‘s season finale on Tuesday, the renewal chances of the freshman drama also seem to have gone up. Veteran utility player Rules of Engagement also looks good at the moment, while A Gifted Man is unlikely to continue and Rob has been very quiet. Things are still murky around the two CSI spinoffs (the mothership series has been renewed). The drumbeat early on that one of the two will definitely go away has quieted down, and with Jerry Bruckheimer’s pilot Trooper not going, there is speculation that the CSI franchise may cheat death and come back intact. Both sequels are profitable for CBS as they have off-network syndication deals and are big international sellers, along with the main CSI series. Only a week ago, the three CSIs were recognized as the three most watched drama series in the world by the Monte-Carlo TV Festival.

New NBC Series ‘Infamous’ To Recast Role

New NBC Series ‘Infamous’ To Recast Role

Another role on a newly picked up series, NBC’s drama Infamous, will be recast. Infamous (form. Notorious) is described as an opulent soap in which a female detective (Meagan Good) returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled Lawson family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress Vivian Lawson who was once her closest friend. The role that is being recast is that of bad boy womanizer Julian Lawson, the handsome brother of the murdered Vivian.

Neil Jackson played the part in the pilot. This is the third recasting on a new NBC series. The female lead in comedy Animal Kingdom, played in the pilot by Amy Huberman, is also being recast. Additionally, the network will have to recast a role in the comedy Guys With Kids played in the pilot as a guest star in second position by Sara Rue after her other pilot, ABC’s Malibu Country, was picked up.

'Two and a Half Men' Renewed for 10th Season

'Two and a Half Men' Renewed for 10th Season

CBS has renewed "Two and a Half Men" for a tenth season after reaching new deals with stars Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones and Ashton Kutcher.

The revamped "Two and a Half Men" has performed solidly for the network since Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen, who was fired last year following months of erratic behavior and public mockery of Chuck Lorre, the show's co-creator.

This season, it has averaged a 5.2 rating/13 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, a 27 percent improvement over the previous season, and 15 million total viewers.

The ninth season premiere of "Two and a Half Men" in September featuring Kutcher's initial appearance drew a jaw-dropping 27.7 million total viewers, and a 10.3/24 in the demo.

The network had earlier renewed 18 of its other series, including "How I Met Your Mother," "2 Broke Girls," "Mike & Molly" and "The Big Bang Theory."

ABC Picks Up 'Body of Proof,' 'Private Practice,' 'Don't Trust B---- In Apartment 23'

ABC Picks Up 'Body of Proof,' 'Private Practice,' 'Don't Trust B---- In Apartment 23'

ABC has renewed “Body of Proof,” “Private Practice” and “Don’t Trust the B----- in Apt. 23,” slotting in three more shows for its future slate.

The network on Friday had already picked up a slew of new shows and renewed a few others, including “Scandal” and “Wife Swap.”

“Body of Proof,” a medical procedural starring Dana Delaney and created by Chris Murphey, will return for a third season with a 13-episode order.

“Private Practice,” the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff created by Shonda Rhimes, will return for a sixth season with star Kate Walsh.

The final renewal,“Apt. 23,” is a vote of confidence in a new show. The Wednesday night comedy debuted midseason, airing after “Modern Family.”

'Scandal' Renewed by ABC

Get ready for a second season of "Scandal."

The Shonda Rhimes drama, which stars Kerry Washington, has been renewed for ABC.

The series got off to a respectable start with its April premiere, drawing a 2.1 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and has shown modest but steady growth since then, averaging a 2.4 in the demo so far this season.

Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former White House communications director turned crisis management expert.

'Gossip Girl,' 'Nikita,' 'Hart of Dixie' Renewed by CW; 'Ringer' and 'Secret Circle' Canceled

'Gossip Girl,' 'Nikita,' 'Hart of Dixie' Renewed by CW; 'Ringer' and 'Secret Circle' Canceled

"Gossip Girl" will give people something to buzz about yet again, and "Nikita" will be back to seek vengeance for another year.

The network renewed its hit, scandal-prone series for a sixth season.

In March, an individual close to the production told TheWrap that the series would likely be back for a final sixth season that would be shortened, much like the final season of the network's "One Tree Hill." However, it has not yet been determined whether the upcoming season will be "Gossip Girl"'s last, or how many episodes it will consist of.

So far this season, the series has averaged a .8 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

The CW has also renewed "Nikita" for a third season, adding to a roster that will include new entries such as "Arrow" and "The Carrie Diaries," as well as returning series such as "Supernatural" and "90210."

"Nikita," which debuted in 2010, stars Maggie Q as the title character, a woman who escaped from the secret government organization called Division, and sets out to take Division down after a three-year hiding period. "Nikita" has averaged a .6 in the demo season-to-date.

The network has also renewed the Rachel Bilson drama "Hart of Dixie," which is preparing to wrap up its maiden season, which has averaged a .7 in the demo

On the downside, the freshman series "Ringer" and "Secret Circle" will not be returning for second seasons."Ringer," which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar in dual roles, averaged a .8 in the demo, while "Secret Circle," which followed a group of teenagers with supernatural powers, averaged a .9.

NBC Cancels 'Harry's Law'

NBC Cancels 'Harry's Law'

NBC has canceled the David E. Kelley legal dramedy "Harry's Law."

The series, which starred Kathy Bates, struggled with low ratings since its debut in September 2011. It's exit was long expected. This season, it averaged a mere 1.4 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

Official word of that the show was cancelled after two seasons came as NBC makes room for new shows in its 2012-13 lineup.

"Best Friends Forever," "Bent," "Are You There, Chelsea," and "Awake" were also canceled Friday, the same day NBC announced new seasons for "Parks and Recreation," "Fashion Star," Whitney," and "Up All Night."

Big Brother voiceover artist Marcus Bentley confirms June start date

Big Brother voiceover artist Marcus Bentley confirms June start date

Marcus Bentley has said that Big Brother will return to television screens next month.

The 'voice of Big Brother' appeared to confirm speculation that the series will return to its traditional summer broadcast slot in a post on his Twitter feed last night (May 10).

Bentley wrote: "Big Brother starts next month - the exact date is to be finalised."

However when pressed as to the exact date, he declined to answer, adding: "What I mean is, I know approximate dates [and] yes I'm contractually not allowed to divulge those dates. The exact date is not decided."

Bentley, who has narrated every series of Big Brother since it first launched on Channel 4 in 2000, also said that Channel 5 intends to decide the exact start date of the show next week.

He added that he does not yet know when confirmation will come.

Big Brother debuted on Channel 5 in a September time slot last year, preceded by a three-week celebrity edition of the show.

It was reported yesterday that viewers will be able to choose a wildcard contestant to join the housemates, in an echo of the second series' "Big Brother Election" in 2001.

Whitney Houston's Family Lands Reality Series With Lifetime

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown and other members of the deceased pop singer's family will star in a Lifetime reality series, tentatively titled "The Houston Family Chronicles," the network said Friday.

Brown, the 19-year-old daughter of Houston and her ex-husband, Bobby Brown, will be joined by Houston's mother Cissy Houston, her brother Gary and her sister-in-law and former manager Pat Houston, along with Pat's daughter Rayah.

The series will follow Houston's family "as they try to pick up the pieces after her untimely death" and attempt to guide Bobbi Kristina "as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother."

No word on whether Bobbi Kristina's father will play a part on the series, or if the family just wasn't able to find a place for him.

“The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family,” Rob Sharenow, Lifetime Networks' executive vice president, programming said of "The Houston Family Chronicles.“In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love and grow.”
