Big Brother: readers brand Conor cash win 'disgraceful'

Readers have blasted Channel 5 producers for last week's White Room twist, which allowed Conor McIntyre to walk out of the house with £50,000.

Only Conor, Luke Scrase, Scott Mason and Sara McLean were eligible for the White Room twist, under Big Brother's rules, and Conor and Luke S were the last pair standing on Friday night.

Big Brother offered the pair the chance to walk off the show with half the prize money and Conor ended up bluffing to Luke S and taking the cash at the last minute.

Fans have blasted the decision to give away half the prize money to a contestant not voted for by viewers, and also to a housemate who many believe should have been ejected from the show following aggressive behaviour towards Deana Uppal earlier in the series.

TV watchdog Ofcom picked up over 1,225 complaints from Big Brother viewers over an incident, which involved Conor claiming that he would happily "punch" Deana and a rant from the fitness trainer involving sexually aggressive content about the Miss India UK winner's epilator.

In a poll of over 11,000 readers at the time, nearly 60% thought Conor should have been booted off the show.

A poll on the forums about Conor's cash win has had a similarly overwhelming majority of fans (78%) describing the twist as "disgraceful".

Forum user Swiftish said: "I can't watch anymore and haven't since Conor won, because that is effectively what he did. His brother said emphatically on BOTS that he was going to win and he was right - and the awful thing is that ALL the housemates should have had that opportunity, or the public should have decided who went in there.

"I do still check in on this forum as some little part of me hopes that either BB change their mind and take the money back, or Deana sues him for verbal assault or Luke S sues him for half the money on the basis of the verbal contract - but then I wake up and realised that Channel 5 decided that he should be the winner, otherwise they would have had a level playing field. Can't watch anymore and never will again - shame!"

Femailian commented: "Disappointed that Channel 5 let this happen after Conor's behaviour in the house. Their twists have completely ruined the show. I won't be watching after this. They have just rewarded Connor for being a thug!"

Tortue said: "There's nothing I find more edifying that watching a nasty, aggressive-mouthed, misogynist rewarded. NOT."

Mulett added: "Things like this annoy me, because it feels like they've cheated the viewers - especially those who've spent each week voting. According to the poll, only about 9% support Big Brother giving Conor that £50k. But do you think the BB producers care?"

The current run of Big Brother has had its lowest ever ratings, clocking in under 1 million on a number of occasions.

Big Brother's current run ends on Monday, August 13. The winner will take home the remaining £50,000.

Sharon Osbourne Accuses NBC of Discriminating Against Son

Sharon Osbourne says she's leaving NBC's "America's Got Talent" because the network discriminated against her son, Jack Osbourne, by cutting him from its upcoming "Stars Earn Stripes" after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

"I just can’t be fake," the New York Post quoted her as saying. "It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled."

Representatives for the show said during the Television Critics Association summer press tour last month that Jack Osbourne, 26, had been in talks with the military-themed reality competition.

Producer David Hurwitz said the "rigors of the show were too intense for him."

Sharon Osbourne caught NBC executives off-guard when she tweeted to fellow "AGT" judge Howard Stern on July 24, the day of NBC's TCA presentation, "My darling @HowardStern, money is not the reason I'm not returning to @nbcagt, it's because..."

She left it at that.

NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday. NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt told TheWrap after Osbourne's tweet that he hoped she would stay with "AGT."

The Post said both Osbournes acknowledged that Jack Osbourne's contract was never signed. But they said he was moving forward with the network based on a good-faith, verbal commitment. Sharon Osbourne said she had a similar agreement with NBC before formally joining "AGT."

She said that under her contract, NBC can't force her to remain with the show.

"They can't make me do something I don't want to do," she said. "All they can do is stop me from being a judge on another network for five years."

Jack, who completed a 30-mile, 16-hour endurance race in January, was first approached by "Stars Earn Stripes" in April, the Post said. The show sent an email in May confirming his participation, and in June he went public about having MS.

He was dropped two days later, the Osbournes said. Jack Osbourne went on his mother's show "The Talk" at the time to contend that he was fired because of MS.

'Walking Dead' star Jeffrey DeMunn for 'Chicago Fire'

The Walking Dead's Jeffrey DeMunn has been cast in upcoming drama Chicago Fire.

The Dale Horvath actor will play a construction worker who gets caught up in a harrowing situation, and must turn to Taylor Kinney's Lieutenant Kelly Severide to get him through it, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Executive producer Dick Wolf has asserted that the new NBC show - which follows the lives of firefighters and paramedics in the Chicago Fire Department - has the potential to be iconic.

House's Jesse Spencer will star alongside Kinney in Chicago Fire as Lieutenant Matthew Casey.

DeMunn also recently rejoined forces with The Walking Dead's Frank Darabont for TNT pilot LA Noir.

Chicago Fire premieres on October 10 on NBC.

'Breaking Bad' twists teased by Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston has dropped some hints about upcoming plot developments in Breaking Bad.

The show's fifth season has seen Walt (Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) working with several new characters, and Cranston confirmed that not all of their cohorts will prove trustworthy.

"You're living in an underworld, where there's criminals and liars and murderers, and your organisation is only as strong as your weakest link," Cranston explained to IGN.

"We get exposed to our weakest link this series."

The most recent episode 'Hazard Pay' introduced former Friday Night Lights star Jesse Plemons as Todd, a pest exterminator who offers assistance to Walt and Jesse.

Another new character was introduced in the previous episode, in the form of Laura Fraser's mysterious Lydia.

'Supernatural' boss promises changes: 'Show was buried by mythology'

Supernatural's new showrunner Jeremy Carver has promised changes for the series.

Carver - who replaces Sera Gamble - told that the CW drama had become "buried under its mythology".

"It became a little hard to tell exactly what was going on at times," he claimed. "The longtime fans all deserve intricate plot, but it felt a little burdensome."

Carver explained that he wants the new episodes to appeal to "lifelong" Supernatural viewers and "new fans" alike.

"Resetting our mythology was one idea that I tried to bring into [the show]," he said.

Season eight will see Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) reunite after spending a long period of time apart.

"Part of this season is realising they didn't just spend several years together; they really matured in different ways," Carver claimed. "It's one thing to get in a car with your brother in year one, but eight years later, you've both matured and grown.

"You're both changing and trying to find out who you are. There's a lot of that type of exploration for these guys this year."

Supernatural returns to The CW for season eight on October 3. In the UK, season seven airs on Wednesdays at 10pm on Sky Living.
