'Glee' Producers Mulling Whitney Houston Tribute on Tuesday

'Glee' Producers Mulling Whitney Houston Tribute on Tuesday

The late singer's "I Will Always Love You" — a cover of Dolly Parton's 1974 hit — will be a pivotal part of the Fox series' Valentine's Day episode on Tuesday.

With a cover of Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" set to be included in the Tuesday, Feb. 14, episode of Glee, producers of the Fox musical dramedy on Saturday were mulling whether to add a tribute to the late singer during the episode.

The song, which Houston covered in 1992, will be a big number in Tuesday's Glee, with Amber Riley's Mercedes set to perform it as she struggles to decide between ex Sam (Chord Overstreet) and current boyfriend Shane (LaMarcus Tinker).

A spokesman for 20th Television, the studio behind Glee, told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday that the Valentine's Day-themed episode, titled "Heart," had been finished and delivered to the network on Friday, with Glee producers currently considering going back into the episode to pay tribute to Houston, who died Saturday. A title card possibly dedicating the episode to Houston or acknowledging her passing following the episode would seem an easy addition.

Written by Parton in 1973 and released as a single the following year, the song was covered by Houston for the 1992 feature film The Bodyguard, in which she starred opposite Kevin Costner. Houston's rendition spent 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a record at the time, and surpassed her previous record for 1986's "Greatest Love of All" from her debut album. Houston's version went on to win Grammys for record of the year and best female pop vocal performance.

Houston died Saturday. She was 48. May she rest in Peace.

Andrea Anders joins 'Will & Grace' exec's NBC pilot

Andrea Anders has joined the cast of an NBC comedy pilot from Will & Grace's Kari Lizer.

The untitled project will focus on two women who have remained life-long friends, despite their different lifestyles.

Nicole (Anders) has a faithful husband and loving family, while her best friend Jen has left behind a broken marriage and resentful parents, according to Deadline.

Anders's most recent project was last year's short-lived Matthew Perry sitcom Mr. Sunshine.

She previously appeared alongside Perry's Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc in spinoff series Joey and also starred in ABC's Better Off Ted and CBS sitcom The Class.

Other comedy projects currently in development at NBC include Daddy's Girl from Friends producer Dana Klein, Roseanne Barr's Downwardly Mobile and a remake of UK sitcom Friday Night Dinner.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy's The New Normal, a new series from Sarah Silverman and Anne Heche vehicle Save Me are also in the works.

Syfy to turn 2010 supernatural film 'Legion' into television series

Syfy to turn 2010 supernatural film 'Legion' into television series

Syfy is set to turn the movie Legion into a cable television series.

Legion tells the story of Archangel Michael, who helps the humans fight the impending Apocalypse brought by God's army of angels.

The film's director Scott Stewart will direct and executive produce the series, while the story will be written by Sons of Anarchy's Vaun Wilmott, reports Deadline.

Released in 2010, the movie starred Paul Bettany as Archangel Michael, as well as Tyrese Gibson, Adrianne Palicki and Kate Walsh.

Bettany once said that he enjoyed his time during the shooting of Legion.

"It was fun to give free rein to that boyish fantasy of jumping around doing flips and somersaults and pretending to be Clint Eastwood shooting the bad guys," he said.

'Take Me Out' Jodie Marsh ex 'marries secret girlfriend'

'Take Me Out' Jodie Marsh ex 'marries secret girlfriend'

Take Me Out contestant Damion Merry reportedly married his secret girlfriend shortly after winning a date on the ITV show.

The 27-year-old model, who was seen insulting his potential partners in a disastrous display on last week's episode, had been secretly dating Sarah Ann Gras when he filmed his appearance in November.

Merry eventually won a date with a reluctant contestant named Chelsea Stewart, but tied the knot with Gras in Las Vegas early last month.

"I couldn't believe it when I saw him on the show," a friend told The Mirror. "He's been dating Sarah since long before the show was filmed, and they got married in Las Vegas earlier this year.

"I'm shocked at the things he said on the show. All that stuff about being unlucky in love is just nonsense. He's had plenty of girlfriends before Sarah, and been with her a good while before the show.

"I wouldn't be surprised if all of this was a stunt just to try and boost his modelling career by getting on the telly. It's the poor girl who had to go away on a date with him that I feel sorry for - he has totally wasted her time."

Merry, a former boyfriend of Jodie Marsh, has claimed that a friend assumed his identity and got married.

A Take Me Out spokesperson responded: "All contestants are required to confirm their single status during the initial phase of the application process and Damion repeatedly claimed to be single.

"We also carry out a number of background checks and speak to family members and close friends to research a contestant's background and find out more about the information they have provided. At no stage was it suggested that Damion had a girlfriend."

Speaking to The Sun's TV Biz, Stewart said that her date with Merry had been a nightmare from start to finish.

"He kept putting his foot in it. I didn't want to go, the way he'd acted," she said. "He was so arrogant. He tried to compliment me but realised he wasn't going to get anywhere."

Paul McCartney to film 'Mad Men' cameo?

Paul McCartney to film 'Mad Men' cameo?

The legendary musician has given producers permission to use his material in the 1960s drama, including his latest album Kisses on the Bottom.

The deal has reportedly opened the door for a possible cameo appearance in the series as a nod to his huge influence on the '60s as one of The Beatles.

"It's perfect timing because his new music suits the programme perfectly," a source told The Sun. "Action in the show has now reached the Swinging '60s. So it's only right that the man who was pivotal to the era is now involved in the show.

"Macca could have a walk-on part if he wished but it's unlikely that he'll ask for a role. He's more than happy just to supply the tunes."

Sir Paul McCartney became the final Beatle to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.

Mad Men will return for a fifth season on March 25 on AMC, and in the UK on March 27 on Sky Atlantic at 9pm.

'Homeland' promotes Navid Negahban, David Marciano to series regulars

'Homeland' promotes Navid Negahban, David Marciano to series regulars

Navid Negahban and David Marciano have been promoted to series regulars on Showtime's Homeland.

The drama series stars Claire Danes as a CIA agent who believes that the American Marine (Damian Lewis) they rescued from Al-Qaeda after eight years of being held prisoner was turned by the terrorist group and is now a threat to the US.

Negahban will continue to play terrorist Abu Nazir on the second season, while Marciano is upgraded to a "full-time cast member" as the surveillance expert Virgil, reports TV Line.

Last year, Homeland was renewed for a second season after its well-received debut season.

"Clearly, the overall audience growth from week one to week four demonstrates that this show is hitting a nerve in the cultural zeitgeist," said David Nevins, Showtime's president of entertainment.

President Barack Obama even named the drama series as one of his favourite shows.

Rupert Murdoch Flying to London to Deal With Crisis at The Sun

Rupert Murdoch Flying to London to Deal With Crisis at The Sun

Five top journalists at the newspaper are among eight Saturday morning arrests related to bribery payments.

Rupert Murdoch is facing a new crisis at News International after five senior reporters at his flagship daily newspaper The Sun were arrested in the early hours of Saturday.

The News Corp. chairman and CEO is understood to be flying to London. While one source said the trip was previously planned, Murdoch is expected to spend time with the company's journalists in the U.K. and reassure staff amid concern that the arrests may force the newspaper to be shut down. Last year, the media conglomerate shuttered the News of the World amid the phone-hacking scandal. A police officer, a ministry of defense official and a member of the military were also arrested in Saturday’s swoop.

Neither Murdoch, son James Murdoch, who is chairman of the News International publishing business, nor the newspaper’s editor were informed that the arrests would take place.

The arrests come after four other senior reporters were arrested two weeks ago in a widening probe into bribery payments to the police and other public officials related to the phone hacking. News International’s London headquarters has been raided by police.

The journalists arrested Saturday were thought to be deputy editor Geoff Webster, picture editor John Edwards, chief reporter John Kay, chief foreign correspondent Nick Parker and reporter John Sturgess, according to a report in The Guardian.

The Sun editor Dominic Mohan said he was “as shocked as anyone” at the arrests but insisted he was “determined to lead The Sun through these difficult times.” He added: “I have a brilliant staff, and we have a duty to serve our readers and will continue to do that. Our focus is putting out Monday’s newspaper.”

In its pages, the paper has yet to allude to the fact it is part of a major corruption inquiry.

A statement from News Corp.’s Management Standards Committee -- the internal group supplying police with evidence for its inquiries -- said the company would remain “committed to ensuring that unacceptable newsgathering practices by individuals in the past will not be repeated.”

"The MSC has provided the option of immediate legal representation to those arrested," the statement added. "The MSC will continue to ensure that all appropriate steps are taken to protect legitimate journalistic privilege and sources, private or personal information and legal privilege."

Kevin Smith: 'Comic Book Men is for the nerds'

Kevin Smith: 'Comic Book Men is for the nerds'

Kevin Smith has revealed that his upcoming reality series will celebrate "nerd or geek" culture.

Comic Book Men will premiere on AMC on Sunday (February 12), and will focus on Smith's comic book store in Red Bank, New Jersey, named Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash.

Speaking about the type of person the show is geared towards, he said: "We're pathetic! Look, one of the great things about the dudes in our world is that we are very self-aware. We're in on the joke.

"As a kid you're encouraged to be yourself, when what most of us really wanted to be was someone else - someone else much, much cooler! But that's all changed. Back in the day, we'd bristle at being called nerd or geek. Now we wear it like a badge of honour."

Smith explained that his staff at Secret Stash were not originally excited about filming a reality series, and described them as "geniuses".

"They didn't want to do a reality show. I had to back them into it. But now that we've seen it we're all wondering why we didn't do this sooner. These guys are geniuses. They walk to the beat of their own drums and have maintained who they are in the face of adversity, and that to me is heroic.

"There is nobody on TV more complex. You turn a camera on them and comedy happens, drama happens. This show didn't start out being about the Stash. We had planned to have a search to find the best, most interesting, most acerbic comic-book staff in North America. Until it was pointed out to me that it was all right under my nose."

On the show's scheduled timeslot, he told Fox News: "AMC has nuzzled us safe as kittens in the slot right after The Walking Dead and right before their talk show Talking Dead.

"That's our audience! So you will definitely see us promoting the Walking Dead comics in our store and on our show. We know how to kiss ass."

Aimee Garcia and Jason Ritter also star in the project, which is set up at Universal Television. (Deadline.com)

DADDY'S GIRLS (NBC) - Christine Woods ("Perfect Couples") and Brenda Song ("The Suite Life on Deck") are the first to board the comedy pilot, about a young doctor who returns home from Doctors Without Borders to find her father is seriously dating the "mean girl" from her high school. Director Pamela Fryman and writer Dana Klein are behind the multi-camera project, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)

DOWNWARDLY MOBILE (NBC) - John Goodman is set to star alongside Roseanne Barr in the comedy pilot, about Rose Davis (Barr), the proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all of the unique people who live there in a challenging economy. Bigley will play eldest son Paul ("sells batteries over the internet; more immature, flashy and outgoing") with Ozeri as youngest Gary ("aspiring songwriter who writings jingles freelance for an ad agency; the more sensitive of the two"). Cash then rounds out the bunch as Lizzy, the family's cousin from Cleveland ("aiming to be a professor of criticism; little sympathy, at first, for her cousins"). Said trio joins the previously cast Allison Janney and Tony Shalhoub as parents Barbara and Gene with David Koechner as their neighbor. Universal Television is behind the half-hour, which Ken Kwapis is directing from a script by Greg Daniels. (Deadline.com)

Danner then is set as Caroline Naughton Lily, a "ruthless but wickedly funny matriarch widow." Brian Kirk is helming the ABC Studios-based hour from a script by K.J. Steinberg. (Deadline.com)

Chi McBride and Kevin Alejandro also star while Richard Shepard is directing from a script by Nick Wootton. (Deadline.com)

THE GOODWIN GAMES (FOX) - Becki Newton ("Love Bites") has been cast in the single-camera comedy pilot, about three siblings who reconnect after the death of their father. Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris co-wrote the script and are executive producing. (Deadline.com)

He'll play said fellow, Dan ("a manic, unkempt man in his 30's"), in the project, from co-creators Rob McElhenney, Rob Rosell and Dan Dunn, based on the latter's book of the same name. FX Productions is producing while Vogel's casting is in second position to the ABC drama. (Deadline.com)

POLITICAL ANIMALS (USA) - Jimmy Wolk ("Lone Star") is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, about Elaine Barrish, a divorced former First Lady and current Secretary of State, who struggles to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with the crises of the State Department. Greg Berlanti is behind the six-episode series, which is set up at Warner Horizon Television. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED BILL ENGVALL PROJECT (TNT, New!) - Bill Engvall ("The Bill Engvall Show") is set to star in a potential drama at the cable channel about "a fish-out-of-water detective from Texas who transfers to the NYPD."
