'Teen Mom' star Amber Portwood wants to quit the show

According to "Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood, she could be leaving the MTV reality series that made her famous -- and subsequently caused her a lot of legal problems.

In a court hearing on Thursday following her arrest for probation violation, the 21-year-old told the judge that "I want to quit, and I will," referring to the MTV series that has documented her life since before the birth of her daughter, Leah, in 2008.

Portwood feels exploited by the cameras, Huffington Post TV reports, and her lawyer, Evan Broderick, says she wants to live her life without it being documented on television.

The Indiana judge ruled that Portwood will have to stay in jail until her next hearing on Jan. 27 because she has not been following the terms of her probation. She was required to submit to drug tests, anger management classes, finish her GED and start an education fund for her daughter. She was also charged with a Class D felony for possessing pills she couldn't provide prescriptions for at the time of her arrest on Monday.

Portwood's first arrest came after she assaulted her on-and-off fiance, Gary Shirley, on camera during filming for "Teen Mom." We can't imagine having a camera in your face at all times helps with rational decision-making, so perhaps taking a break from TV would be in Portwood and her family's best interest. (Though we'd still take her over any of the "Teen Mom 2" stars any day.)
