The X-Files creator Chris Carter's new series Unique will not be going ahead.
Carter's new project was to be a mystery police thriller, as first was reported in September 2011.
The script followed a woman seeking revenge for the murder of her husband, only to be drawn into a global conspiracy.
However, the project - which was set up at production company Media Rights Capital - has now stalled, reports TVWise.
Carter is also in discussions about a third X-Files movie, it was revealed earlier this month.
"I've been talking to Chris Carter about it for a long time," said X-Files producer Frank Spotnitz.
"It feels wrong not to give it an ending around the alien colonisation of Earth... I have a clear idea of how it would go."
