Munsters remake officially dead

Mockingbird Lane, Bryan Fuller's remake of sixties sitcom The Munsters, has been officially dropped by NBC...

“I tweet with a heavy heart. NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.” And with those 140 characters from producer Bryan Fuller, NBC's two-years-in-gestation, $10 million reboot of The Munsters was laid to rest.

Our US chums may have caught the feature-length pilot of Mockingbird Lane screened at Halloween, but that's the last we can expect to see from the remake, which starred Jerry O'Connell, Portia de Rossi, and Eddie Izzard as Herman, Lily and Grandpa Munster.

After a change in NBC chairperson, reported creative disagreements between producer Fuller and pilot director Bryan Singer, and extensive reshoots, Mockingbird Lane didn't have a smooth journey from page to screen, and the plug being pulled at this point comes as little surprise.
