Simon Cowell donates £20,000 to Rhythmix charity after naming dispute

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has donated a reported £20,000 to the Rhythmix charity following their naming dispute with the show earlier this year. The charity lodged complaints with EU courts after Syco tried to trademark the term Rhythmix, the original name for group Little Mix.

The charity wrote an open letter to Simon Cowell asking for their legal costs to be paid, which has now been done.

In a statement, Syco said it had been “happy to make a donation to the charity”.

Rhtyhmix’s chief executive Mark Davyd told The Independent on Sunday about the news: “We are very pleased this has been brought to an amicable conclusion.

“These are difficult times for charities, and we are very pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement with SyCo to put this matter behind us.”
