Katie Couric Talker Acquired By Canada's Rogers Media

Katie Couric Talker Acquired By Canada's Rogers Media

Disney-ABC Domestic Television racked up the foreign sale ahead of a September 2012 debut, and after clearing the syndicated talker in 93 percent of the U.S. market.

Katie Couric's upcoming talk show, Katie, is headed to Canada.

Rogers Media acquired the hour-long talker from Disney-ABC Domestic Television ahead of its September 2012 debut on the Citytv network.

Katie is the latest acquisition by Rogers Media from Disney-ABC, which in recent years has sold most of its product to rival Bell Media, via a long-standing output deal.

Rogers Media, which is beefing up its Citytv lineup as the network expands nationally, earlier picked up the daytime talker The Chew, in addition to primetime series like Revenge, Happy Endings, Body of Proof and Private Practice.

Citytv will also air the upcoming Disney-ABC series Scandal and the new daytime show The Revolution, which replaces One Life to Live.

And Rogers Media bought the Russell Brand late night talker from FX stateside for its FX Canada channel.

The Canadian deal for Katie follows the talker clearing in 93 percent of the U.S. market, including 95 of the top 100 markets.
