When the New England Patriots meet the New York Giants in Sunday's Super Bowl, it will be first time the Pats will play in a domed stadium this year.
To prepare his team and simulate the sound of thousands of rabid, screaming hostile fans, New England coach Bill Belichek has had ear-splittingly loud music piped in while his team practices.
Among the artists Belichek bludgeoned his players' eardrums with: Super Bowl halftime performer Madonna.
No mentiion of Belichek's music choices was made at the Material Girl's Super Bowl news conference on Thursday, but she did say:
>> That performing at the Super Bowl haltime show was "a Midwesterner girl’s dream" and said that she wanted to dedicate her performance to her father. “I’m sure of all the things I’ve ever done in my life, this will be the thing he’s most excited about,” she laughed.
>> That there would be no Janet Jackson-style slips. “Great attention to detail has been paid to my wardrobe. There will be no wardrobe malfunctions. Promise.”
>> That she would not reveal details about the performance itself, including the set list. She did say that she would sing “three old songs and one new one” — her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin.
>> That she wouldn't be tipping off any possible halftime guest performances. “I really don’t want to blow the surprises. I want people to be knocked out of their seats from beginning to end, and so I just want to keep that surprise and keep anticipation going. Sorry.”
Asked by a little girl reporting for Scholastic about the craziest thing she’d seen in Indianapolis, Madonna got big laughs when she replied, “Me!”
