'Eternal Law' axed by ITV after one series

'Eternal Law' axed by ITV after one series

Eternal Law has been axed by ITV, according to star Samuel West.

The fantasy drama, from Life On Mars creators Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharoah, followed two angels who work as barristers to help troubled humans.

West played Zak Gist on the show and broke the news of its cancellation on Twitter.

"Alas there will be no more Eternal Law," he confirmed. "Not enough people watched it. A thousand thanks to those of you who did, and said such kind things."

He added: "I'll miss Zak and the gang enormously, but I'm very proud of the work we did. And we'll always have York. Onward!"

Also starring Orla Brady, Ukweli Roach and Tobias Menzies, Eternal Law drew 5.43m viewers when it premiered on ITV1 in January.

However, by the sixth and final episode, audience numbers had dropped to just 2.95m.

Kyle Gallner, Madeleine Martin to guest in 'Criminal Minds'

Kyle Gallner, Madeleine Martin to guest in 'Criminal Minds'

Kyle Gallner and Madeleine Martin have signed up for guest roles in Criminal Minds.

The duo will both appear in the 19th episode of the season, TV Guide reports.

They will play James and Lara, a brother and sister who believe the strange ideas that their mother instilled in them before she died.

Gallner has previously starred in shows such as Veronica Mars, Big Love and CSI: NY, while Martin is probably best known for her role as Becca in Californication.

Their episode of Criminal Minds will be directed by Matthew Gray Gubler, who appears in the show as Dr Spencer Reid.

Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer recently denied rumours that Homeland star Mandy Patinkin was planning to return to the show.

Meanwhile, Paget Brewster - who stars as Emily Prentiss - announced last week that she will leave the series at the end of the season.

Criminal Minds airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS.

BBC weatherman Alex Deakin makes cunt gaffe

BBC weatherman Alex Deakin makes cunt gaffe

BBC weatherman Alex Deakin made an unfortunate blooper on Saturday's BBC World weather forecast, uttering the word cunt in error.

Deakin joked on Twitter afterwards that he might be collecting his P45 soon following his swear word blunder.

"I think the less said the better about that last broadcast," he wrote.

During the forecast for Sunday, Deakin said: "It is simply a lovely winter's day tomorrow, buckets loads of cunt...sunshine across central and Eastern England."

'Harry Potter' star Mark Williams to appear on 'Doctor Who'?

'Harry Potter' star Mark Williams to appear on 'Doctor Who'?

Mark Williams has reportedly won a role in the next series of Doctor Who.

The sci-fi drama is currently filming its seventh run in Wales, with Harry Potter actor Williams having been spotted on set during filming of episode two.

Recording recently took place inside a private house in Church Road, Penarth, with resident Grace Jenkins charting the shoot on Twitter.

"Living room has been cruelly disfigured so they can film Doctor Who in it," she wrote. "Rory and Amy Pond's wedding photos are now on my living room wall and will be all weekend as they're filming Monday [February 20]."

Jenkins later posted a photo of herself with Williams, referencing the actor's Harry Potter role: "I just met Mr Weasley!"

In addition to the Harry Potter films, comedian and actor Williams is known for appearing on BBC sketch series The Fast Show and currently plays a recurring role on Being Human.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in the autumn.

'Got Talent': Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon in auditions bust-up

'Got Talent': Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon in auditions bust-up

Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon have reportedly had a bust-up at the Britain's Got Talent Birmingham auditions.

Cowell apparently taunted his new co-star by asking her, "Who are you?" after they fell out over a dance group act called Lil' Diamondz.

Lil' Diamondz have appeared on Dixon's CBBC series Street Dance Stars and the reality TV judge told the act that they "hadn't let her down" following their audition.

However, Cowell mocked Dixon for her comments, complaining: "What a silly comment to make. That's a silly thing to say, Alesha... Sorry, who are you, anyway?"

According to The Mirror, the spat continued backstage and Dixon "stormed off to her dressing room".

A source close to Cowell insisted that his remarks were "harmless banter".

Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV1 in the spring.

'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' defended by Channel 4

'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' defended by Channel 4

Channel 4's commissioning editor Nick Hornby has defended Big Fat Gypsy Weddings following criticism from the gypsy community.

After London Gypsy and Traveller Unit complained about the stereotypes in the show and its "Bigger Fatter Gypsier" billboard campaign, blogger Pipopotamus wrote an open letter urging the broadcaster to "stop ruining my life" with the series.

In the letter, the 17-year-old Romany writer claimed that the popular Channel 4 series is a "work of fiction".

He also criticised the series' narrow focus on the Irish gypsy community, noted that he and his family had been subject to abuse during the broadcast of the previous series and took issue with the show's "unhealthy obsession with little girls".

"I am not after 5 minutes of fame, but what I am asking for, is for you to put humans above ratings. You can't ignore us forever," he concluded.

Hornby responded with his own open letter on the Channel 4 website where he defended the show and added that the broadcaster has confidence that "the programme is fair and accurate".

"It is not and was never the intention of any of the films to encourage negative feelings towards Gypsies or Travellers," he said.

"Despite your fear that people are watching the documentaries simply to laugh at Gypsies and Travellers, I think the films are celebratory and I hope never derogatory."

Hornby added: "You also say in your letter that the series is a 'work of fiction'. I'm afraid we don't agree.

"The programme makers have worked with people from these communities across the UK and Ireland to ensure that there is a wide range of voices sharing their lives and views on what it means to be a Gypsy or Traveller in Britain and Ireland today."

Overnight data showed that the series premiere of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings won its 9pm timeslot in last week's ratings.
