Dave On Demand app hits iPad and iPhone

Dave, the entertainment channel operated by UKTV, has today (February 7) launched a new app enabling users to watch shows such as Suits and Red Dwarf X on an iPhone or iPad.

Available to download now from iTunes, the Dave on Demand iOS app offers catch-up and on-demand access to Dave shows.

The app is based on the Dave On Demand video on-demand player that was launched on PC last year, alongside similar services for UKTV channels Really and Yesterday.

The Dave player has been adapted for iPads and iPhones, and this is the first time that UKTV has made its programming specifically available to viewers via iOS devices.

Ben Hine, UKTV's director of operations, technology and innovation, said that the firm is also working on iOS apps for Really and Yesterday.

"With the 12 million tablets currently in use in the UK increasingly becoming a primary device for viewing content, the Dave app makes our great programmes conveniently accessible to even more viewers," he said.

"Dave is the first of our free-to-air channels to have an iOS app and over the coming months we will be working towards rolling out apps for Yesterday and Really."

After launching its digital services on PC, BT Vision and Sky On Demand in 2012, UKTV reported more than 3 million views of its digital content across the year.
