Jon Stewart: Iranians Too Cocky About Oscar Win Over Israeli Film

Jon Stewart: Iranians Too Cocky About Oscar Win Over Israeli Film

Sure, "A Separation," an Iranian movie, beat out "Footnote," an Israeli film, for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar this year. But Jon Stewart warned that Iran shouldn't be feeling so cocky about the victory.

Despite Iran State TV declaring the Oscar victory an Iranian victory over Israeli, Stewart said, "Okay, Iran, this time you've stepped in it, mister. You may be enriching uranium for nuclear weapons and fighting proxy wars in a variety of Middle East hotspots, but you have just written a check your entertainment industry cannot cash."

Describing Iran State TV as a cross between a driver's ed instructional video and a "Tim and Eric" sketch from Adult Swim, he added, "I don't know how you would do in a regular conventional war, Iran, but in war of production values with the sons of Israel, we will kick your ass."

A who's who of Jewish film and TV makers followed, including Woody Allen, Seth Rogen, David O. Selznik, the Coen brothers, David Mamet, Jerry Seinfeld and … Norman Jewison? Maybe not.

Finally, Stewart warned Iran, "You be kind, just like the filmmaker who won for 'A Separation' was … because if you like winning Oscars, Iran, guess who hands them out? Me."

Comic-Con tickets sell out in less than an hour

Comic-Con tickets sell out in less than an hour

Tickets for Comic-Con International sold out yesterday less than an hour after going on sale.

The badges went on sale at 8am PST on Saturday and none were left by 9am.

The four-day passes for the event in San Diego were all gone within half an hour, with all the single passes sold within the following ten minutes, reports The Beat.

Customers were put in a queue, with warnings that attempts to refresh their browsers or open second windows would result in being put to the back of the line.

Last year's registration suffered three failed attempts in which their website crashed.

The successful sales process took seven hours, with ongoing difficulties forcing fans to spend the day repeatedly refreshing their browsers until they finally got through.

1,500 four-day passes were later returned last year after the announcement that Marvel Studios would not be making a presentation.

'X Factor' return for Kelly Rowland?

'X Factor' return for Kelly Rowland?

Kelly Rowland could return to The X Factor this year, it has been claimed.

The singer was widely rumoured to have quit the show following a turbulent stint as a judge last year, during which she allegedly clashed with Tulisa Contostavlos over bullying claims and missed a week after staying in Los Angeles with a sore throat.

Rowland was said to have become homesick during last year's X Factor and tired of the media "circus" surrounding the show, including reports that she often ditched her artists to promote her album.

However, producers are currently discussing the judging panel for this year's competition and want the Destiny's Child star to return, The Sun reports.

"It seems to be taken as read that Kelly is not coming back but that is wrong. Simon Cowell and executive producer Richard Holloway were very pleased with her on last year's show and would have her back," a source said.

"It's at an early stage and discussions have yet to start. But Kelly is still very much in the mix."

Gary Barlow is already in talks to return to the panel, while last year's winning judge Contostavlos and Louis Walsh are expected to judge the new series.

Rowland's friend added: "Kelly had a great time and is actually very keen to come back. She loved all the drama, even when it was pretty harsh against her. Kelly is a tough cookie and a few barbs from viewers or whoever is water off a duck's back to her.

"Yes, it was a draining experience and one she probably didn't realise at the outset was going to be quite so gruelling. But mentoring her acts - especially Misha B - was really rewarding for her and she loved it. Talks haven't started but they will soon."

Adele is apparently on the producers' wish list, although she is unlikely to join The X Factor following last month's Brits furore. Estelle has also been tipped to replace Rowland should she quit.

An X Factor spokesman insisted: "No decisions have been made on this year's judging panel."

Freddie Ljungberg for Celebrity Big Brother?

Freddie Ljungberg for Celebrity Big Brother?

Celebrity Big Brother producers are reportedly hoping to secure Freddie Ljungberg for the next series.

The footballer, who is said to be a fan of the show, was close to entering the house this year but had prior commitments to Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse.

Bosses are already planning Celebrity Big Brother 2013 and want to sign Ljungberg up following his exit from the football club last month.

"The man is unbelievably attractive and won't just have the girls hot under the collar," a source told the Daily Star.

"He's a massive gay icon so we know his male admirers will be desperate to spy on him in the house. And who wouldn't want to share a house with him?

"The last series was fantastic. Now we want to build on that and are looking at the best personalities out there."

A Channel 5 spokeswoman confirmed that they are currently in talks with a number of celebrities but couldn't reveal any names.

Denise Welch won Celebrity Big Brother 2012 in January after beating the likes of Frankie Cocozza and the Shannon twins in the public vote.

Charlie Sheen Spoofs All Over Himself With Fiat and DirecTV Ads

Charlie Sheen Spoofs All Over Himself With Fiat and DirecTV Ads

Charlie Sheen may be a divisive figure in the national discourse, but there's one thing everyone can agree on: The guy isn't afraid to poke fun at himself.

Sheen -- who got the ax from the hit show "Two and a Half Men" early last year, after a spree of erratic behavior and a public war of words with show creator Chuck Lorre -- appears in a pair of new ads, for DirecTV and Fiat, both of which take playful jabs at his history.

In the Fiat ad, Sheen comes tearing into an opulent home in a Fiat 500 Abarth, then emerges and embraces a fetching young woman -- all while wearing a monitoring bracelet on his ankle.

"I love being under house arrest," Sheen tells the camera, before asking his new companion, "What do I get for good behavior?"

The DirecTV ad, meanwhile, plays off of Sheen's past volatility, featuring a cable customer who, discouraged by his inability to record his favorite shows, wanders off and winds up in a Turkish bath house with the actor, and is eventually confronted by a crossbow-wielding scene, sporting a manic gleam in his eye as he reprises his role in the 1986 film "Platoon."

"Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen," the narrator of the ad cautions.

'Hawaii Five-0' Alex O'Loughlin in treatment, taking hiatus

'Hawaii Five-0' Alex O'Loughlin in treatment, taking hiatus

Alex O'Loughlin will be taking extended leave from his hit CBS show Hawaii Five-0.

The actor plays Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett on the show, opposite Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, and Grace Park.

A spokesperson for O'Loughlin told E! that he will be receiving "supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury".

CBS released a statement on O'Loughlin's temporary departure, saying: "We respect and support Alex's decision. Everyone at CBS Television Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return."

The 35-year-old actor's absence should not cause significant problems for the series, as production on the second season of the show is ahead of schedule.

Hawaii Five-0, a remake of the classic '80s television series, premiered in 2010. In an earlier interview, O'Loughlin described his new interpretation of Steve McGarrett as more "agressive" and "ruthless" than his predecessor's.

A two-night crossover special with another hit procedural drama, NCIS, recently aired on CBS.

Winfrey is also due to interview Whitney's sister-in-law and manager Patricia Houston, who was one of the speakers at the singer's funeral, as well as Whitney's brother Gary.

OWN released a statement saying: "Bobbi Kristina shares personal memories of her mum and how she would like the iconic superstar to be remembered. The family also addresses the rumours and speculation surrounding Houston's death."

Whitney Houston was found dead in her Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room on February 11, hours before she was due to appear at mentor Clive Davis's annual Grammys pre-party.

Prior to the Bobbi Kristina interview, OWN will air its Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview special, involving a 2009 interview between Winfrey and Whitney, and the 58-year-old's personal memories of the star.

The Bobbi Kristina interview on Oprah's Next Chapter will air on Sunday, March 11 at 9pm.
