The Voice judge will.i.am has revealed that he is campaigning for Cheryl Cole to perform on his show because it "would really piss off" Simon Cowell.
It was reported last week that Cole could debut her first single since Cowell axed her from The X Factor USA on the BBC One show.
The 'Promise This' singer's mentor will.i.am - who is to judge The Voice alongside Jessie J, Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue - has said that he is excited by the possibility of Cole launching her comeback on what Cowell has already identified as his biggest competition.
"I want her on the Voice," the Black Eyed Peas star told the Sunday Mirror. "I mean why not? That would really piss the big man off wouldn't it?
"This is her year by the way - Cheryl is back! You all gonna love her new music - it's on it, on the money."
A source added: "Cheryl has been working on new material for months. She is determined to relaunch herself as a credible artist and The Voice will be the perfect platform to showcase her latest tracks.
"The fact her manager is on the judging panel means it's an absolute no-brainer for her."
will.i.am recently insisted that Cole will never return to The X Factor, declaring: "Why does she need it? Why are you going to make someone else rich? Cheryl needs her own show."
The Voice is set to launch on BBC One in the spring.
