Dick Clark Cremated, Memorial Plans Still Pending

Dick Clark Cremated, Memorial Plans Still Pending

Dick Clark has been cremated.

According to the publicist, plans for a memorial service are "still being discussed."

While memorial plans have not yet been finalized, the New York Post reports that Clark will be honored next New Year's Eve in Times Square, where he televised the ball-dropping ceremony for decades. Fans will be invited to share memories of Clark on one-inch-square pieces of confetti, which will be among the confetti that's tossed out on Times Square when the year turns.

The former "American Bandstand" host died Wednesday at the age of 82 after suffering a heart attack.

Clark's death, after decades as a television icon, drew numerous remembrances in Hollywood. Ryan Seacrest, who took over hosting duties for "New Year's Rockin' Eve" from Clark after the latter suffered a heart attack, tweeted, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."
