'The Voice' Adds Another Hour to October Episodes

"The Voice" has a special treat for its fans in the days leading up to Halloween.

NBC's hit singing competition has added another hour to its Oct. 30 episode, making for four hours of the show that week, with the inclusion of the two-hour Monday episode that week.

The expansion will accommodate the show's new "knockout" rounds, which "The Voice" added to the format of its current third season.

In the knockout rounds, singers are paired up against members of their own team, only finding out moments beforehand who they'll be competing against. Performing a song of their own choosing while their competitor waits and watches, the artists vie to prove to their coach that they're ready for the live rounds. The loser of the knockout round is sent home.

This isn't the first time that "The Voice" has expanded this season. The show's September premiere was expanded to a third night, putting it in direct competition with Fox's singing competition "The X Factor." (The two shows tied in head-to-head competition, though Fox won the night overall.)
