Adam Levine: 'Randy Jackson's The Voice comment was irresponsible'

Adam Levine has said American Idol judge Randy Jackson was "irresponsible" in saying The Voice was a place for people seeking a second chance.

Jackson made the comments during the TCA press tour last month, suggesting that The Voice was like a "second chance theater", pointing out first season winner Javier Colon previously had a contract with Columbia Records.

However, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air today (February 3), The Voice mentor Levine said: "Shame on Randy Jackson for saying that because he, of anybody, should know that if you're in this business you need second, third, fourth and fifth chances.

"We love embracing that on the show."

Levine added: "God bless Randy. He was a working musician for a long time and had a lot of success and then Idol kind of blew him out of the water and he's a household name now [but] it was an irresponsible thing to say that."
