Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock has been given a release date by BBC Worldwide.
Originally scheduled for March, the platformer will be available worldwide to download on PlayStation 3 from Wednesday, May 23. It will also be available at retail from May 25 in the UK.
The Vita version, meanwhile, will be available to download from June 13.
A BBC spokesperson told: "We really appreciate your patience as we've been making sure the game is perfect for all you eager fans!"
Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is the first of three planned releases by BBC Worldwide, and will be a PlayStation timed exclusive in Europe before releasing on PC later in the year.
The Vita version will offer a number of unique features, including Near support and save sharing between platforms, which ties into Sony's vision of "console quality gaming" in the mobile space.
It will also feature split-screen multiplayer, and will be supported by "self-contained" downloadable content, which will arrive within a few months of its release.
Featuring Matt Smith's Doctor and Alex Kingston's River Song, the game allows players to control the pair as they travel across time and space to save the Earth.
It will feature classic enemies such as Cybermen, Daleks, Silurians and The Silence.
