Carrie Underwood would be a good 'Idol' judge, says Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson has revealed who she would like to see on the judges' panel on American Idol.

The first season Idol winner shared that Carrie Underwood, who triumphed in the Fox reality competition's fourth season, would be a good judge on the show.

Speaking about Underwood, Clarkson told Us Weekly: "Didn't she major in journalism or something? And she can have that face... that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good."

Underwood graduated at Oklahoma's Northeastern State University in 2006 as the magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mass communication and an emphasis in journalism.

As for Clarkson, she says she would rather mentor the contestants than seat on the judging panel.

"I don't want to be a judge. Mentor is more my style," she said. "And not just mentoring, getting to be a part of the song with them, getting them amped up - from our rehearsals to stage, it's so exciting being onstage. It's fun!"

Both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez recently announced their departure as Idol's judges.
